How to get photos off of a bricked iPhone Posted: 09 Aug 2018 09:48 PM PDT My iPhone 6s+ is bricked and it has a charger with an arrow to iTunes on the screen with "support.apple.com/iPhone/restore" at the top. All that I want is to get my pictures off of it if that's possible. I've tried everything I can think of. [link] [comments] |

iPhone 8+ not connecting with car stereo Posted: 09 Aug 2018 08:08 PM PDT Ok guys, I have an iPhone 8+ running the most recent version of iOs 11 that will not connect with my car stereo via USB. The head unit in question is an older Alpine CDE-121 that I installed in the car in 2012. It does not have Bluetooth, and I cannot find any firmware updates. I have a 6+ that never had any issues with this head unit, even when running the same version of iOS. Has Apple changed something with how the device appears to a car stereo head unit, and if they have, do I need to buy a new one? [link] [comments] |
Having trouble changing my Apple ID Posted: 09 Aug 2018 04:13 PM PDT I recently created a new email address and was hoping to use this address for my Apple ID. First, I logged into my Apple account and added my new email address to the list of emails under the "reachable at" section (not sure why I did this first, I guess I was under the impression that you first had to add the email here before you could use it as your Apple ID). I noticed that the new email had a little 'x' next to it, presumably so I could remove the account if I wanted to, while the other two addresses on file had a '?' next to them that said "this is your Apple ID" and "this is an alias of your Apple ID email address" respectively when the question mark is clicked on. So three addresses total now. Next, I went and changed the email associated with my Apple ID to the new address. Had no issues here. When I moved on to the next section called "primary email", I tried to change the address to the same address I just used for my new Apple ID, but I got an error message that said "this email address is not available for use as a new Apple ID". I did some searching online and saw some people who said this usually happens when the email in question is being used as an additional email you can be reached at, and that removing the extra email will allow you to enter it as your primary email address. Trouble is, the three emails listed under "reachable at" all have question marks next to them now and seemingly can't be removed - the new email, which says "this is your Apple ID", my old email, which says "this is the primary email address for your account", and a third email address ending in icloud.com which says "this is an alias of your Apple ID email address". Frankly, I don't even remember when or how the third address got created as I never use @icloud.com addresses. I must have created this @icloud.com account a few years ago, probably as a placeholder, and likely forgot about it as I don't use iCloud for anything. If I go into my settings under Apple ID > iCloud > Mail, I see that under "iCloud account information" the same @icloud.com address is used as the email for my iCloud account. Again, this is all confusing to me as I never use iCloud. So just to recap - my new email address is being used as my Apple ID, my old email address is being used as my primary email for receiving notifications, and a third @icloud.com account seems to be used for both iCloud and as an alias for the old email account. I want to get rid of that @icloud.com address if possible (or at least change it since the address in question is a junk address made up of random characters) and I want to remove the old email completely and use the new email as both my Apple ID and as my primary email address. How do I do this though? I've hit a wall. Thanks for any help! [link] [comments] |
How does my phone decided which apps to offload? Posted: 09 Aug 2018 04:08 PM PDT Space is pretty tight on my phone. It has gotten to the point where it will offload apps when it resets. This is only a minor inconvenience most of the time, but it is frustrating to discover that I have to reinstall my banking app when I'm out and just want to check my account balance. What's really annoying is that my phone deletes apps I use all the time while keeping games I downloaded and played for an afternoon weeks ago. So, I'm curious, how does my phone decide which apps to offload? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Aug 2018 12:05 PM PDT So I tried FaceTiming my friend but every time I try to call them it says FaceTime unavailable and it doesn't work unless they call me, and now it won't let me send message to them. iMessage or text. We texted other people to test out our phones and it works when texting other people, but when we try to text each other it doesn't work? [link] [comments] |
Curious question: What does apple do with broken iPhones given back from applecare/applecare+? Posted: 09 Aug 2018 04:16 AM PDT Wondering if anyone in this sub knows or works at an apple repair center. I know that broken iPhones are brought back to a repair center where parts get scrapped or if the phone is salvageable becomes "remanufactured". My question is if they would even bother with liquid damaged phones? I understand if a phone was returned via bendgate or the LCD stopped working but the phone responds fine via Itunes. But if a phone is sent back on the premise that liquid has gotten inside do you think they would bother reviving the unit? I found out there is a big micro-soldering community and it takes them weeks at a time to get a liquid damaged logic board back to working order. [link] [comments] |
