5 Quick tl;dr iOS Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 15) Posted: 26 Apr 2019 07:31 AM PDT Welcome back, my mobile gaming friends, to this weekly tl;dr roundup of the 5 most interesting games I played last week. This week, including a horror-themed arcade game, a superhot-inspired endless shooter where time only moves when we move, a classic tower defense game with a few unique twists, a fun stickman action fighting game that mixes in RPG-like character progression, and a new castle defense strategy game! Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 15 weeks ago here. The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is. Let's get to the 5 games:Rest in Pieces [Game Size: 280 MB] (free)Genre: Arcade / Indie / Horror-themed – Offline Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Rest in Pieces is a unique arcade game where we tap and hold either side of the screen to swing a porcelain figurine from side to side, avoiding the many obstacles in the horror-themed levels controlled by each figurine's worst nightmare! Our goal is to reach the end of the nightmare to save the soul trapped inside each figurine, which is no easy feat due to the game's high difficulty. This, combined with the dark and gritty atmosphere, makes for a unique gameplay experience where destroying our figurine truly feels horrific! The game does employ a life system, but a $1 removes this system completely, with $3 iAP also removing the seldom occurring ads, and additional iAPs allowing us to immediately acquire more of the soft-currency used to unlock new figurines. App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Time Locker [Game Size: 66 MB] (free)Genre: Shooter / Endless / Superhot-like - Offline Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Time Locker is a fun time-altering endless forward-running shooter where time only moves when we move, which we do by swiping up, down, left or right on the screen. As we move forward, we pickup points and weapon upgrades by shooting the hordes of wacky enemies running towards us, such as birds, dogs, mammuts, or even dinosaurs. The art style is simplistic and distinct, and the concept fun and unique, taking clear inspiration from PC game Superhot's core gameplay mechanic, but implementing it in a casual mobile experience. Instantly skippable ads sometimes appear between deaths, and a few iAPS going up to $4 allow us to unlock a coin-doubler and special characters. App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Cursed Treasure 2 [Total Game Size: 117 MB] ($1)Genre: Tower Defense / Strategy – Offline Playable Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Some tl;dr review: Cursed Treasure 2 is a solid Tower Defense game from 2017 that while not reinventing the wheel stands out in comparison to most other TD games in the following ways: ´1) Each map contains special buildings that we upgrade to get more gold, more mana, or even to stop them from healing our enemies, 2) we only have 3 towers, but as we upgrade them, they gain interesting debuff abilities, such as "Fear", 3) gaining 3 stars from a level requires no enemies ever even touching the gems we're protecting, and 4) we can upgrade passive skills between levels, such as one that makes our gems slowly crawl back to the cave if they're dropped by an opponent. These components add an extra strategic layer to Cursed Treasure 2, which makes for a slightly different gameplay experience than most TDs. The game monetizes through occasional 5-second-skippable ads and by selling $5 packs of skulls, which are also earned in-game at a slow pace, used to perform powerful special abilities. App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Keep the Castle [Total Game Size: 161 MB] (free)Genre: Castle Defense / Strategy / RPG - Requires Online Access Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Defend your castle against waves of enemies running towards it - it's a concept that has been attempted before, with games like Dungeon Defense and Grow Castle. What sets Keep the Castle apart is its very short stages that are perfect for mobile, the 5-lane system that has us deploy one or more mercenaries in each lane to help us defeat the hordes of enemies, and the main character that we control and level up. My main frustration is the many upgrades we can buy for the premium currency. Although veteran players have reassured me that we get plenty of premium currency for free as we continue playing, the game remains pay-to-progress-faster despite everything being grindable. App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Wall Breaker 2 [Game Size: 149 MB] (free)Genre: Stickman / Fighting / Action / RPG - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Some tl;dr review: Wall Breaker 2 is a stickman action fighting game mixed with RPG-like character progression and abilities, which we use to fight our way through near-endless levels. Oh, and did I mention that our "enemies" are simply squares and circles? Yes... seriously. Despite a UI that could definitely use some optimizations, Wall Breaker 2 has both multiple game modes, a guild system, plenty of player progression, and a wacky and weird style that had me literally laughing out loud because of the over-the-top abilities and equipment. we unlock. While the game's multiple $100 iAPs seem daunting, I never felt a need to buy any of them - and I can't imagine anyone will. Instead, the game's main downside is that it can't be played offline. Should Apple bring back a revamped GameCenter app along with the launch of Apple Arcade? Posted: 25 Apr 2019 08:38 PM PDT Basically the title. Right now there is no app that acts as a official hub for iOS gaming related stuff and I'd love to see a new GameCenter app for that. Nearly every other gaming plattform relies on social features like friends list or game communties, they offer an overview of your achievements/highscores/trophies, etc. . and on iOS those features are all over the place since they removed the original GameCenter app from iOS. Apple Arcade is clearly designed to be a premium experience and imo a new GameCenter app would be a nice companion app to be a more "serious" gaming plattform. What do you think? Do you want a new, better GameCenter app with iOS 13 or are you glad it's gone? [link] [comments]

Finding this 3D stardew valley kinda game. Posted: 26 Apr 2019 06:47 AM PDT So I used to play this 3D farm game that kinda had the style of animal crossing. I'm pretty sure it wasnt a nintendo game. You could do these quests and stuff, and you had your own island where you can sell fish and stuff. You had to earn money to repair ruins or unlock them. It was a really nice looking game, but I can't seem to remember it's title. [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Apr 2019 07:09 AM PDT Has anyone had any luck running Titan Quest on a XS? I have the original DotEmu version and anytime I get to the character select screen it looks like it's in glitched window of some kind and it's not playable. On that same note, has anyone had luck getting the newer version without having to buy it again from the new publisher? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Apr 2019 04:51 AM PDT As the title hints, I am looking for similiar games to Civilization 6. The requirements are: Its not Hexonia. Its not Polygonia. And it should be playable on an iPhone 6. Do you guys have any recommendations? [link] [comments]

Hero Siege Disappearing Relic Fix Posted: 26 Apr 2019 08:51 AM PDT Sup yo, I recently posted about Hero Siege. I was rough on it. There are bugs. And seriously lazy design choices in this mobile port. However. The worst offender. Was the broken relic system. Or so I thought.... apparently there is a work around. And dare I say, it does, in a bit of a silly way, return this game to being in a semi-functional state,I've even managed to get a fair amount of enjoyment out of it. Currently sitting with a LVL112 Viking that shreds enemies like lettuce. TO FIX THE BROKEN RELICS AFTER SAVE AND QUIT: Simply pull up the talent screen, enter the rune screen, then go back to the talent screen..... simple as that. I do this a few times just to be sure That's it. Your offensive relics should start proc'ing again, and your orbitals will appear after you warp to a new map (if they dont, just try Talent, Rune, Talent again and they should show up). This makes the game SO much better as this allows some truly insane builds, where your character is a spell spewing hell beast that literally becomes nigh untouchable. In a way, this does scratch that Diablo itch, Gear of varying qualities, with better gear dropping in the higher difficulties, 7 acts, with 5 realms each, plus a boss stage, wormhole runs for when you've hit lvl150. The relic systems not working was my biggest gripe, and if you can tolerate the little work around, I recommend you swoop this up as LONG AS IT IS ON SALE. The devs do not intend to support this version, tho they are developing the 3.0 update with a more solid mobile experience in mind, tho there is no current speculated release date..... SALLY FORTH A SHRED FOES AND HOES. [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Apr 2019 10:12 AM PDT Etrian Odyssey was for 3DS. I played some steam dungeon crawler but I didnt like it. I look for more combat focus than map puzzles. I dont like similar to Legend of Grimrock . I dont like similar to Zanki Zero: Last Beginning, which is too focused in story and tons of tex that doesnt say anything (in my opinion). This is more similar: Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk, but I didnt like some combat aspects and other superfluous aspects of the game. Etrian Oddysey mix very well story + combat + exploration + map design puzzles + city development, shops... why I sold my 3DS without playing all EO? T_T Can be quite hard helping me...thx [link] [comments]
