iOS 11.4 battery on iPhone 8 plus. I downloaded iOS today and was surprised with how good battery was as compared to what users have been saying. This was the first day of usage so I expect it to get better the next few days. I used it pretty heavy today with YouTube, texting and even a hotspot.

Battery life is really good. Like amazingly good. Let me explain.

My iPhone 6s honestly after iOS 11 felt like it was dying. Literally. I barely got 4 hours on screen time, and my phone always died really fast. Even when I wasn't using it. I figured it was due to age and my battery needing to be replaced, but according to battery heath it didn't. My budget isn't great right now so buying a brand new phone wasn't in my cards and with iOS 12 I don't have too! My phone has no only started performing great but it's started lasting a very long time compared to iOS 11.

I know these kinds of posts get annoying sometimes, but I just wanted fellow iPhone 6s users know that if your device is having the same problems mine was you may not have to get a new device, you may just have to wait until September.

[WIP] Block YouTube Ads without Jailbreaking or sideloading

So guys I stumbled across an app called Fogu VPN which blocked all adverts in Youtube unfotunately because their VPN servers are so slow it was more of a pain to wait for pages to load than the adverts themselves.

After a lot of investigating I stumbled across this app called ShadowBlock which allows full control over the all the blocking within the VPN

Quick intro

Install this paid app https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shadowblock/id1275979443?mt=8

Upload this file to your iCloud Drive https://drive.google.com/open?id=19s3H1kf7OYJGqvUwllWy5bQfRDRG9KeL

Go to Configuration

Tap on Rule File - Default

Tap Import from Other Apps

Browse to the file and wait for it to be imported

Tap on Default and the number of rules should change to 25147

Start the VPN

Some adverts may still sneak through but let me know how you guys get on.

Worth replacing home button bracket?

My 6s Plus's home button isn't feeling so clicky anymore. It's worsened to the point that the button misses presses sometimes. I would just replace the button, but I don't want to lose Touch ID. Could replacing the home bucket bracket do the trick?

Canary Mail not working

i can send encryped email with canary mail, no problem

but when i recieve some, i always get a decryption error, it just wont open them

anyone else got this problem? im using GPG and yes i do have my private key..

Issues with iCloud Messages

I've had a few issues with iMessages in iCloud, both on my iPhone X and iPad Air 2 (running 11.4). For some reason no matter what percentage of battery my iPad is at, it always tells me to plug in my iPad to be able to get my messages from iCloud. Also, a message I sent from my phone has mysteriously disappeared from all my devices (I know I sent the message because I can see the response to the question).

Anyway, just wondering if anybody else is experiencing similar issues.
