| iOS 11.4; iMessage still out of order Posted: 18 Jun 2018 04:25 PM PDT I had this problem a few months ago when on 11.2.5; despite all websites saying it's "fixed" with literally every update (11.4 said it was as well) but the weird bug where you send a message then get a message back, but the message u received displays before the message u sent, is still happening for users on iOS 11.4 right? Cause it is for me, and I'm wondering if there's any perma- fixes aside from the "reset everything" method which sets u back a lot. [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 18 Jun 2018 10:12 PM PDT Video - https://streamable.com/fqbko The issue seems to be either because of the cracked screen or possible water, however, I am unsure and am asking for help here first because 1) it's late at night and everywhere else is closed and 2) I want to avoid getting ripped off for a repair or just simply overpaying at the apple store if there are either better options to go to or it's possible to DIY. Just today while I was at work, my phone started doing what is shown in the video above. I am unable to use the touch screen at all, the only way to use the phone is through siri. As seen in the video, the longer the phone is unlocked, the brighter the screen gets until it is nothing but white or other colored light. the black spot also only appeared after all this started. The crack happened a few months ago and I have not experienced any issues with the screen until now. Water damage is possible as I can occasionally get water on me/my pants while at work but I have never had this happen to my phone. Thank you ahead of time for any helpful replies! | Is it worth an upgrade to HighSierra Posted: 18 Jun 2018 09:17 PM PDT Hi, y'all. 2014 Macbook Pro user here. I guess I never upgraded my OS and am still on Yosemite. I've never faced any issues, so what benefit would upgrading to HighSierra give me, at this point? I don't really use any of the native OSX apps like iphoto or safari, so is it worth taking up more space on my hard drive? I only have a 128 gb SSD and need a lot of space to support using Logic (a Digital Audio Workshop), so I don't know if I want to sacrifice space unless it would drastically improve some aspect of my OSX experience. | Can’t seem to download macOS High Sierra? Posted: 18 Jun 2018 04:12 PM PDT I just bought a used MacBook Pro today. I'm admittedly not very good with technology, but I'm learning about video editing so I wanted to download iMovie. Whenever I try to download iMovie, it says it cannot be installed because I need OS X version 10.13.2 or later. However, when I try updating, I get a message that reads "This disk is not formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Use disk utility to enable journaling or reformat the disk." Anyways im getting stuck on the startup screen- its just showing the apple logo. -I cannot start it in safe mode. -replaced the hard drive with a solid state about a year ago. -I have reset the SMC and PRAM. -in disc utility none of the drives seem to have any issues, and I have tried repairing them. -when I try to select my hard drive as the startup drive I get a "building boot caches on boot helper partition failed" message. | iPhone SE glitching, stuck on Apple logo screen Posted: 18 Jun 2018 07:41 PM PDT It looks like this. The screen has been cracked that badly (I know it's kinda hard to tell 'cause it's dark) for months so I don't think that's the reason it's doing this, is it? I have no home button (screen cracked too badly to function, I ordered my own screen and repair kit online and attempted to fix it, broke the home button and the new screen in the process but it was functioning so I didn't care). Seeing as I have no home button, I can't force restart it via home + power button. I've reset it before when it's glitched out (never this badly) using assistive touch, but it was too glitchy for the screen to respond this time. I've held the power button down for 30+ seconds, no luck. I've tried the power and volume up button, nothing. I was on the phone with my boyfriend when it did this. I heard a little *zip* kinda noise, then the screen started glitching out super bad. I actually was able to hold the power button down to get it to the screen it's on, but I can't get it any further than that. It's still stuck like that. It's been stuck for about 40 minutes now. What can I do? Am I screwed? It was on 20%, I think, not being charged when it did that. Should I let it die and then plug it in and see if that helps, or plug it in while it's doing this? P.S. | iPhone Storage index read time is extremely slow Posted: 18 Jun 2018 07:17 PM PDT I have approximately 14GB used on my 32GB iPhone 7... It recently started bugging me saying that storage was running low and that I should use iCloud photos instead, so I dumped my photos to my Mac. My phone still says I have 5GB of photo content when I've deleted everything using Image Capture and rebooted. iTunes also says 5GB of photos, 6.5GB of apps and 20GB of documents & data, so that's rather inaccurate because there's no photos left and it should only show 14gigs... The read time for the storage index has increased well beyond the 15 seconds it normally takes, so much so that if I exit out of settings and try to use other apps, they will hang, crash, and fail to launch until the indexing process is killed or completes. The Storage page is very unresponsive, tapping to review data on various apps causes it to lag tremendously while calculating and re-calculating categories. | random "broken" Alias created for Keynote Posted: 18 Jun 2018 12:57 PM PDT So for over a few months now ive been having issue with the Keynote application creating these 'broken alias' files on my MacBook Air randomly from time to time(10.13.5 High Sierra; APFS Volume). Ive been working with a iApps Senior Advisor from Apple about this case, but we cant seem to figure out what's causing it as it appears out of the blue. The Keynote application is version 8.1 and the presentation(s) themselves are in the 'single file' type by default. At this point ive deleted the original presentation and started completely from scratch; but i still get this broken alias file, more commonly if i restart my computer. The iApps Advisor gave me a quick fix when this first started happening for preforming a ts4040[https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht203538] which reset permissions on my computer; but that seems to temporarily work. The only solutions ive been able to do is the ts4040 fix or restart my computer into recovery mode and boot back out into normal. Currently i changed the presentation to 'package' than the defaulted 'single file' as of now and i havent experienced any broken aliases when restarting my computer; but i still dont know why this is happening. | When iPhone is on Do Not Disturb, can my Macbook Pro notify me that someone is calling? Posted: 18 Jun 2018 05:38 PM PDT I already have my Messages app on my Macbook Pro synced with my iPhone, so I can receive iMessages and text messages. When I'm in class, I keep my phone on Do Not Disturb and it's great cause I can still text. Only problem is, I don't see on my computer when someone is calling me. Is it possible to also sync regular phone calls (not just Facetime) to my computer, when my phone is on Do Not Disturb? Or at the very least, have my computer alert me when someone is calling me? | Razer Atheris Bluetooth connectivity problems with 2012 15" MacBook Pro Posted: 18 Jun 2018 04:02 PM PDT I recently picked up a used 2012 15" MacBook Pro that is in amazing condition. I did a clean install on it and everything has been running in tip top shape apart from one thing. I first tried connecting my Razer Orochi to the MBP and it just failed to connect successfully. The pairing would just stutter like in the included video. I happen to also have Windows 10 on my mac via Boot Camp and when i tested pairing the Orochi there it worked just fine. I contacted Razer and got them to send over an Atheris and I just tested it out and I am having the same problem. So it wasn't a problem with the mouse in the end as I first thought. Check out the video at the link below to see the pairing "stuttering". Do you have any idea as to what it might me? The Orochi mouse pairs fine in windows but not in macOS 10.13 High Sierra. I haven't test the Atheris with windows yet but its giving me the same issue under macOS. Everything is completely up to date in my system so I'm not sure what it could be. Thanks for any help. | Posted: 18 Jun 2018 03:15 PM PDT Hey Guys, I have a 2011 macbook pro with filevault 2 enabled. Recently when we log in to filevault the circle with the slash comes up. I went to recovery mode and was able to see the drive and unlock the file fault but can't mount the volume. I can't mount on single user mode as well. I connected it to a external dock, held option and it will boot from it but won't get past the filevault 2 screen. I tried decrypting it but it says going backwards for decryption but doesn't go past 0% after a few hours. I am thinking of reinstall mac os high sierra over the recent installation. Disk utility will not repair the volume but the drive itself it will. If i highlight the volume and hit mount it never seems to mount. This is a 250 gb mechanical drive. [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 18 Jun 2018 02:54 PM PDT tl;dr how can i access my ipad's DCIM folder with all my ipad's photos on my PC (not Mac) without iTunes sticking their nose in my business? I'm an ipad pro 9.7" (2016) owner, and I want to download my pictures from my iPad to my PC, but when I plug in my ipad to my PC, iTunes automatically pops up. Normally, I'm ok with this, so I can back up my ipad settings and apps, but I don't want to back my photos to iCloud either. My wireless connection at work isn't great and I'm wanting to get my new Macbook Pro connected via a wired connection. I'm already using one of my two ports for my HDMI out to my second monitor that has two USB A ports, but no passthrough to keep the laptop charged through my workday. In my initial searches, it looks like there aren't any Thunderbolt 3 > Ethernet dongles that also have a USB C passthrough. Does anyone here know of one that exists that I can get ordered? Alternatively, could I use one of my USB A ports on my existing adaptor with a USB A > Ethernet adapter to keep my second Thunderbolt 3 port free for charging? Thanks! [link] [comments]  |

I am trying to back it up but I can't because I have a passcode, which I can't enter because my touch screen doesn't work. I have already tried force restarting it, performed a system recovery, and tried to update to the latest version (I say tried because it needs me to enter my passcode to complete the update). I'm almost 100% sure its a hardware issue at this point. Is there a way to enter my passcode on my computer to back up my phone or to remove it all together? I will take it to get my screen fixed but would like to back it up myself first if possible. I have the latest version of iTunes, please let me know if more information would be helpful. | Posted: 18 Jun 2018 11:37 AM PDT Hi I have a early 2015 13 inch MacBook pro. I've had no issues with it besides the trackpad cable gave out and had that replaced a number of months ago. All of a sudden when I was on my computer watching a video the screen went black, trackpad stoped clicking (solid state) and the volume cut out. All of a sudden it came back on volume kept playing and it worked fine, blackout lasted about 5 seconds or so. But then about 30 seconds later the same thing happened. Battery was around 80% not plugged in and I didn't see any major drops in battery before or after the screen. Anyone encounter this before or think I should have it looked at? Sometimes it says its downloading 200 and other times it says its downloading 15,000. Is there a way to stop this? Is this bad?
