| iOS 10/11 now playing screen ... Posted: 08 May 2018 08:40 PM PDT Is ugly beyond comprehension. What were they thinking? Whatever happened to Apple's obsession with big colorful cover art being front and center? Instead, we now have tiny album art and unnecessarily large playback controls. Things are even more awful under control center - their philosophy of adding superfluous 3D touch gestures and long presses to get to reach critical UI elements is baffling. On a related note, Android has really upped their game on the UI side of things, primarily because they adhere so strongly to their Material Design guidelines. The music controls on the lock screen and notifications shade on Android are beautifully designed, adapt to your album art and are far more aesthetically pleasing. Sadly, I don't think iOS 12 is going to be a huge release from a UI revamp standpoint. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this. [link] [comments]  | ||

| In Photos app, how do I get iPad to remember last viewed Posted: 09 May 2018 02:48 AM PDT I'm taking photos of some old diaries with my iPad, then transcribing the handwriting onto a desktop computer. I expected my own iPad to be much smoother for this kind of work than using the digital camera that my boss handed me, and I was right. Zooming in etc is smooth, and 12 MP is good enough. However, every time my iPad sleeps and I re-open it, it defaults to the last photo taken, not to the last photo viewed, so that I have to scroll back to find the photo of the half page I was working on. Since I take 4 photos per page, it annoys me and feels inefficient. I've changed the sleep lock timer from 2 to 5 minutes, and that helps, but it's not enough, yet I refuse to increase the sleep timer further. Is there a way to get the Photos app to always open with "last viewed" instead of "last in the pic roll"? Thanks in advance! Note: This is a work-related question. [link] [comments]  | ||

Like I want to be able to see the first message I sent to somebody but since then we've exchanged at least 50-100k messages so scrolling will not work, or spotlight search for that matter. I've been told that it is possible to get notifications when someone adds an event to the calendar but I'm not having any luck with it. | Posted: 08 May 2018 01:48 PM PDT I'll try my best to explain the situation, I think this happened after the iOS 11 update. The local library in my Music app is grouping artists by Album, rather than Artists like it was. A new "Album" is created for every song if they don't share the same Album name. I would prefer to group each artist by artist, to make browsing through songs easier. If your reading this, do you know of a way to group songs by the artist rather than album? I also have Apple Music, this may be a factor. I've had issues before where if iCloud music is turned on then new local music will not sync to my iPhone. [link] [comments]  | ||
