Is scaling only crisp on MacOS when using 100% or 200%? Posted: 07 Mar 2018 01:32 AM PST I have a question about scaling in MacOS. I have successfully added custom scaling with switchresx so I can use my 1440p monitor with slightly larger graphical elements. But every other resolution than 100% or 200% scaling (have tried 125% and 115%) gives me a slight slight blur on text. Is this to be expected for macos scaling? In windows 10 I can choose for example 125 % scaling with very crisp text. Or is it some kind of calculation I have to make to align it with the pixels better? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Help with creating a simple script Posted: 06 Mar 2018 05:17 PM PST Hello! I also posted this on r/applehelp but I thought this might be a better sub. I'm looking to create a simple script that will SSH into my NAS and run a series of commands. I'm not a script person but I know that I can create a simple shell script to log into my NAS, run a command, wait, run another command, then wait then log out. But I don't know the commands or he syntax. It's for updating my Plex plugin on my FreeNAS box. Can anyone help me? [link] [comments]
TouchBar Macbook Pro 2016 stucks on booting, Touch ID as power button not working. Posted: 06 Mar 2018 07:39 AM PST And here I am, wondering if there is way how to force shutdown of my Mac? I tried to install macOS Sierra from USB (having some problem with cmd+r and restore). So I connect my USB, boot with option, selected USB, pres Enter...and it gets stuck on boot logo... Tried to force turn off with Touch ID, but no success. Is there any other way or will I have to wait to battery runs out? :X [link] [comments]
Macbook Pro becomes very hot after a minute or two of high CPU use Posted: 06 Mar 2018 09:55 AM PST My Macbook Pro seems to become very hot after just a minute or two of high CPU usage by iCloud related processes. Is there any way to improve cooling. This happens while using my Macbook on a woden desk, I've tried the standard SMC Resets and other suggestions but to no avail :( [link] [comments]
Annoying problem pls help me before I throw my laptop out the window Posted: 06 Mar 2018 09:45 PM PST Specs: Retina, Mid 2014, 2.6 GHz Intel Core, High Sierra Version 10.13.3 Every so often, maybe every month or two the laptop will turn on, and the backlight on the screen will come on, but nothing else will happen. If I close the lid, the apple light stays on. No amount of the regular key presses do anything to help, but I've realised I can boot in safe mode, and connect it to another monitor with HDMI and it seems to work okay. If I don't boot in safe mode, but connect to another monitor, the apple logo appears and it loads to about 3/4 of the way and stops. This problem corrects itself after about a week or so. Doesn't really matter if I try things, or just leave it off for a week. It seems to just start working like before when it feels like it. Has anyone experienced this before? Please help because it's driving me nuts. Cheers in advance. [link] [comments]
deleted error filling up /var/log/install.log Posted: 06 Mar 2018 05:14 PM PST I just noticed today that every 30 seconds for the past 6 months, the "deleted" (delete-d) daemon has been throwing errors into /var/log/install.log. My install.log is over 500 megs in size. Sure, I could purge it, but I'd rather fix the issue first. This is what my log is full of: 2018-03-05 16:55:19-06 MyMacbook deleted[414]: diskmanagement: [DMManager(PrivateMethods) clientConforms:error:]: currentThread=86875=0x1535b expectedThread=11523=0x2d03 2018-03-05 16:55:19-06 MyMacbook deleted[414]: diskmanagement: [DMManager(PrivateMethods) clientConforms:error:]: currentThread=86875=0x1535b expectedThread=11523=0x2d03 2018-03-05 16:55:19-06 MyMacbook deleted[414]: diskmanagement: [DMManager(PrivateMethods) clientConforms:error:]: currentThread=86875=0x1535b expectedThread=11523=0x2d03 2018-03-05 16:55:19-06 MyMacbook deleted[414]: diskmanagement: [DMManager(PrivateMethods) clientConforms:error:]: currentThread=86875=0x1535b expectedThread=11523=0x2d03 2018-03-05 16:55:19-06 MyMacbook deleted[414]: diskmanagement: [DMManager(PrivateMethods) clientConforms:error:]: currentThread=86875=0x1535b expectedThread=11523=0x2d03 2018-03-05 16:55:19-06 MyMacbook deleted[414]: diskmanagement: [DMManager(PrivateMethods) clientConforms:error:]: currentThread=86875=0x1535b expectedThread=11523=0x2d03 2018-03-05 16:55:19-06 MyMacbook deleted[414]: diskmanagement: [DMManager(PrivateMethods) clientConforms:error:]: currentThread=86875=0x1535b expectedThread=11523=0x2d03 It seems to log the error 7 times each 30 seconds. I checked a couple of other computers and they have similar errors in their install.log, but to a lesser extent. Any ideas what I could do to solve this? MacOS High Sierra 10.13.3 (although I've upgraded a few times since the problem began, and I even reinstalled system on top of the current install to no avail) [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Mar 2018 04:35 AM PST Hi, about two years ago I was customizing my Macbooks mediakeys with Karabiner and FastScripts. I enabled the f keys in Systemsettings, mapped every f key to the mediakey equivalent except for f7-f9 which I was using to control VLC with a custom Applescript. I already removed them from FastScripts, removed the settings from Karabiner and removed both apps, but whenever I'm using the F-keys, F7-F9 always launches VLC. Is there a way to remove all custom key bindings on mac os? Thanks for your help! [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Mar 2018 10:11 AM PST I was trying to install high sierra, but it kept rebooting and told me there was a problem. I checked the disk status and it said that there was a problem with the EFI partition, I tried reinstalling the OS (el capitan) but still, you could see details in the screenshot (comments) to when I tried to verify the disk and then repair it.
