Posted: 25 Mar 2018 06:02 PM PDT All of their songs are grey and will not play. I've tried removing and re-adding them with no luck. It started with one song and when I removed and added it again, all songs from that artist are doing it. I have an iPhone 6 that the problem is occurring on. All of the songs have been downloaded for offline listening and I currently have a good connection. Any ideas? Here is what I'm getting. you can see the song at the bottom is a different artist and works fine. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Mar 2018 07:27 PM PDT I have a Thunderbolt audio interface. I want to connect it to my MacBook, and run a long cable between them. Unfortunately, long Thunderbolt cables are incredibly expensive. If I use two Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapters and one long Ethernet cable to connect my MacBook to the Thunderbolt audio interface, will it work? If not, why? [link] [comments] |

We're 2013 MBP 13" plagued with any known issues? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 06:06 PM PDT I can no longer find it but I recall finding a post here mentioned to avoid a specific range of years for MacBooks because there seemed to be a common issue with overheating? Or soldering issues? Listing states it's a "late 2013 model that was manufactured in the first half of 2014." Want to make sure this model wasn't affected by some known plagued issue before I purchase it. PS-Im an idiot. I made this post earlier but I mixed up the years thinking the listing was for a '15 model. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Mar 2018 09:28 PM PDT Earlier today I was trying to mock my girlfriend and my phone decided to intermittently send partial messages or stop sending messages entirely. Not sending messages at all is the main issue but here is an example of the partial message issue: https://imgur.com/a/UsUXo It did this a few weeks ago and I reset my phone and network settings. That seemed to resolve it but it's back now and it's bad. I'll send her a few messages and at least one of those won't go through. I just switched from an S8 back to Apple and she has an S8 and has never had an iPhone so it's not an iMessage issue. Does anyone know what this could be? [link] [comments] |
iPod’s headphone audio not working after removing broken off pieces Posted: 25 Mar 2018 08:47 PM PDT My headphones broke off last night and I had to get a piece of them out of my iPod. When I try another pair of headphones the sound doesn't work unless I twist them around and even then it's just staticky audio. Is there any way to fix this or is it permanently damaged? Overheating when running Chrome on certain websites Posted: 25 Mar 2018 08:13 PM PDT Hello, this one has stumped me for a few months. It seems to be intermittent (though more times an issue than not). Some sites (Youtube, Soundcloud, and some others. Even some subreddits, though most are fine) make my computer overheat and the fans go wild. Computer temps get up to 200F. I'm assuming this is due to some kind of script or extension that Chrome is running. This didn't always happen but it has for maybe half a year now. I would prefer to not switch from Chrome, as I've tried Safari and I am just not a fan of it. I've tried updating Chrome and using CleanMyMac but to no permanent fix. Mid 2014, 15" Retina MacBook Pro 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT750M 2 GB Intel Iris Pro 1537 MB I haven't found other people with this issue... Only that Chrome is a huge resource hog. But this is beyond hogging resources/draining battery. Let me know what other info may help. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Can someone help me with this? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 07:51 PM PDT So... I'm trying to back up my iphone and it's telling me this. Pretty confused. https://imgur.com/a/IKkXw [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Mar 2018 07:34 PM PDT Here is a screen shot showing it. https://i.imgur.com/JzOmBgx.png Right screen is macbook (MBP 13inch 2017), left screen is my 24 inch 1080p monitor. The white bar/box only appears on the external monitor (see top right corner). This has been happening since I bought my macbook. Randomly appears, randomly disappears. Sometimes it lasts 10 minutes, sometimes an entire day (or until i unplug and plug back in). I cannot replicate the "box" all the time but I can unplug the laptop and plug it back in 10 times and it'll happen 70% of the time. Apple support told me it was probably the dongle. Of course, I wouldn't need a dongle if there was just an hdmi port in this thing. But whatever. I took it to an apple store to try it on one of the LG monitors (no way i'm buying another dongle, and that's the only other way of testing I could think of). Got permission from one of the employees, and of course on the third try the box was back. So it's not the dongle, must be a software issue? Apple employees didn't have a solution, just a "oh wow haven't seen that before on your model" (according to an employee dedicated GPU models have tons of hardware issues). But since mine is the igpu model no one knew for sure that it was hardware or software. tldr random white box. no real fix. It's not a huge issue just a minor inconvenience not being able to see the time on my computer until it decides to randomly disappear. I paid $2k for the thing which is what's most annoying - plus this is apple! I thought apple stood for higher quality than this. So maybe someone on here has suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Mar 2018 03:08 PM PDT Hi /r/AppleHelp, I'm trying to update my MacBook Pro (Retina 2013) which is currently running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. When I open the app store, everything seems fine at first glance. The Featured, Top Charts, Categories, and Purchased tabs all work as expected, but when I open the Update tab, all I get is a white screen. It acknowledges that there is 1 update on the icon, but other than that... it's totally blank. I have tried restarting my mac and signing out of the app store and signing back in. Neither has worked. Is there any other way to update a mac? [link] [comments] |
Should I use a fan control app? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 06:52 PM PDT As any Mac user knows it gets burning hot. But is using a fan control app safe? Two reasons I ask. First it is very noisy. Second the fans activation is pretty sinusoidal which thermodynamically speaking does not sounds too good for the chips right? [link] [comments] |
iMac boots halfway and then shuts down Posted: 25 Mar 2018 06:49 PM PDT I have a Late-2015 Retina 5k iMac. I bought it new and use it for photo editing (Lightroom, Photoshop). Yesterday, it was working perfectly fine while I was scanning some prints. I shut it down when I was done. This morning, when I attempted to turn it on, it boots halfway and then shuts down. I opened utility mode or whatever (command + R), but I'm really hesitant to try things without a solid solution. I wouldn't be thrilled if I lost my files, obviously, but there's nothing on there that can't be replaced. It's out of warranty, and apparently Apple Support won't tell me how to fix it, OR I was trying to use the wrong chat feature. What do I do? [link] [comments] |
Hardware error code: 4SNS/1/C0000008:TAOP--124 Possible to fix? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 02:38 PM PDT I have a MacBook Pro (15", mid-2012) 2.6GHz i7, 8GB RAM and did a system test and got the above error code. From my research it seems it's a faulty ambient temperature sensor. Is this replaceable/fixable or is my whole logic board toast? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Mar 2018 12:24 PM PDT Hi, new to the sub and hoping someone might be able to help. I have a 17" MacBook Pro from 2011/12. About a year or so ago it stopped booting up properly, itnwouldnfreezenhalf way through the grey bootup screen and when I try and so safe boots and the disk utility on startup the screen has lots of different lines on it. I remember contacting apple last year about it and they said it was now too old to repair. The laptop has sat in storage for the last 12 months while I've been between houses and living with in-laws. Now I'm all moved again I've just dug it out and was hoping there might be a way to resurrect it as as much as I've looked about at other newer laptops I either don't like them or find them too small. Thanks for any help. [link] [comments] |
Replacing MacBook Air rubber display gasket Posted: 25 Mar 2018 05:41 PM PDT I recently bought a 2011 11" MacBook Air that is missing the rubber part around the display. I bought a replacement part, and I am able to get it on on the top and sides, but not on the bottom over the clutch cover. Is there a special technique to getting the rubber in down there, or do I have to remove the display and clutch cover to do so? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Not all apps appearing in purchases. Posted: 25 Mar 2018 05:23 PM PDT I recently remembered a game that I really enjoyed in the past. I knew it was removed from the AppStore so I tried to find it in the purchases. but unfortunately it was not there. I tried looking in the 'hidden purchases' but no luck, and although it was there I was unable to install it. I also tried looking in the internet for a download link or ipa, but no luck. Posted: 25 Mar 2018 04:46 PM PDT Today I bought my mom an iPhone. I was helping set it up and I had to create an email to set up her apple account. I went through all the normal process and went to start downloading some apps for her and the first one I tried, I entered my password and then it said the account is locked for security purposes. It made me reset and create a new password and I went to download again and it wouldn't let me again. I've tried 4 times and 2 of them were different emails. It just keeps saying the account is locked due to a security risk. It's a brand new phone from Verizon and she's never owned an iPhone. I called apple and they said it's due to visiting insecure websites. The only site I ever visited was google to create an email. So I reset all the safari history and all that and it still didn't change a thing. Any help or tips is greatly appreciated, thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Mar 2018 04:32 PM PDT I am unable to update my apps or download free ones. Every time I try I get a message that pops up telling me that I need "verification" and to update my billing info. Then I get a message telling me my billing info was "declined." I've never altered my debit card info ever in anyway and now all of a sudden it's being "declined." Please help! [link] [comments] |
Using the location of another device for Find Friends? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 03:35 PM PDT I was wondering if it's possible to use the location of another device, specifically my MacBook Air, for the Find Friends feature. I want to be able to send location from my Mac, but after an hour of searching I've come up with nothing. I even tried to emulate iOS on my PC, but there aren't any good apps to do that with. Is there any other options? Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I would really appreciate being redirected to a subreddit that can help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Mar 2018 03:25 PM PDT I have a IPad mini 1 that appears to be bending in the bottom right corner. I have rarely if ever dropped it and have never had anything replaced on it. It never overheats and I am starting to worry that the battery is swelling. Solution? [link] [comments] |
Cannow install High Sierra on Late 2010 MB Air Posted: 25 Mar 2018 03:22 PM PDT I've recently acquired a Late 2010, 11 inch MacBook Air from a friend and it came with macOS El Capitan. I've tried upgrading it to the latest High Sierra. The installation seemed to go just fine in the beginning, but after the laptop rebooted, the screen flickered for a while and then I got an "unknown error" and was stuck in a reboot loop until I booted with Command+R and reinstalled El Capitan. Any ideas how to fix this? [link] [comments] |
Any way to recover deleted iMessages on a macbook? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 03:17 PM PDT I have a late 2013 macbook pro running High Sierra. I use the imessage app a ton, and I thought the only way to delete a message thread was to click the X and then move the mouse all the way over and click "yes" when it asks if you're sure. Turns out, you can also swipe on the thread, and hit the delete option that appears... which i did on accident. And everything just deletes. So, I'm hoping there's a way to get these messages back. I googled a bunch and didn't see much in the way of recent threads, so I figured it can't hurt to ask if any new developments have been made in the last few years. I tried re-texting this person, which didn't bring the messages back (I apparently had my settings on "keep forever" but not "save history"). I have a copy of these messages on my phone, is there any way to like sign out of icloud and sign back in and have the messages synch from my phone? What about any trusted third-party apps that can restore lost messages? Or maybe going in to my computer somewhere and finding the message files, and reimporting them back into iMessage? Any advice/solutions/etc would be really appreciated, thank you! [link] [comments] |
Is it Possible to Enter Safe Mode While Booting from an External Drive? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 02:53 PM PDT I've got a 2011 iMac (27") that's been acting strangely — I replaced the power supply, and ever since it reboots randomly, while the fans are always (after a step or two into the boot process) spin up to max. I've tried resetting the SMC and the PRAM, hardware diagnostics won't start (holding down D at boot), and it even restarts unpredictably while in target disk mode. I've been using an external thunderbolt SSD as a boot drive, but entering safe mode while booting from that drive can't work (unless I'm missing something). The machine will boot from the internal HD with the old (Sierra) installation that's on it, but in safe mode it won't see the thunderbolt drive, so I can't change boot drives from the Startup Disk preference. Thank you for any and all help. [link] [comments] |
Why isn't my e-mail fully populating on my Mac? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 08:35 AM PDT I sync my g-mail across my MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone. For some reason, my complete inbox does not populate on my mac. Older messages, in the neighborhood of a month old, do not show on the mac, but are still visible when I scroll through my inbox on my iPad and iPhone. I've looked at the settings on my Mac, and nothing is jumping out at me as being the issue. Please help! Thanks! [link] [comments] |
