Unlock with Apple Watch causes lag? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 02:20 PM PDT I have a mbp 2016 w/ touchbar. Whenever I enable unlock with Apple Watch on my Mac, it causes the screen to take 10+ seconds to wake when opening the laptop from sleep. When this setting is off my mbp wakes almost instantly. Is this normal? Why does this happen? Does this happen to anyone else? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Is $700 too much for a Used Mid 2012 15" Macbook Pro? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 09:35 PM PDT won a bid on eBay for a mid 2012 Macbook Pro and was wondering if I overpaid for it? it's the MD104LL/A 15" model, with an i7-3720QM, 16GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, a GT 650M 1GB, and an Anti-glare Display. Seller told me battery cycle was 524. I won the bid at $630 but with Shipping and Taxes($20+$48.75) it came at $698.75, just shy of $700. Do you think it's worth it for that price? MBP mid-2017 15"? Overkill for my situation? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 02:47 PM PDT Hi all, I was initially looking to purchase a windows computer for Adobe usage on a touchscreen, but have since backed off that idea, because my Macbook Air with base specs has lasted 4 years, after multiple drops, cat pushing it off the bed, and traveling around, etc. So now I'm looking at a mid-2017 MacBook Pro 15", 16GB RAM, touchbar, 256GB storage. I am looking for this laptop to be my only computer, so basically a desktop and a laptop that is taken to and from work daily. I assume this configuration will last me quite a while? My 4GB Air has done a fair job even late into its life. I am a biology graduate student, who uses Illustrator and Photoshop for photo editing (photography hobby), and graphics for presentation and teaching. Does the MBP play nice with Adobe CC? Is the massive trackpad useful for these programs? I also am a heavy Chrome user (fantastic with my Pixel 2), and Microsoft Office products. Spotify and iTunes for music. Is the model I'm looking at overkill? I can probably get it on sale for ~$2,100. Will this last me 4 years at least? Is the color accuracy and Adobe RGB improved over older models? And finally, the touchbar doesn't look like something I would get a ton of use out of, but can I customize it so I can hit one button to open my Google drive, one button to open Google Calendar, etc.? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Mar 2018 02:19 PM PDT I'm New to Hazel and I'm trying to setup rules to OCR and rename invoices from various vendors including Amazon. I'd like to pull the order date, invoice total and rename in this format: 2018-03-25Amazon$127.13. I was able to use the date match feature but it wasn't pulling the order date. It would use the shipping date or the date I OCR'd the pdf. I also wasn't cleaver enough to get it to parse the invoice total. Can anyone share similar rules to get me started ? Questions from a mac beginner. Posted: 25 Mar 2018 03:42 AM PDT Recently bought the 2017 macbook pro with touchbar and i'm curious about a few things. 1) It says the battery is design to retain 80% of it's original capacity after 1000 charge cycles. In here does one charge cycle mean 0-100%? If i charged from 60% to 100% does count as one "charge cycle"? or 40% of one charge cycle (lol). 2) Is using while plugged in (even when full battery) bad for it? Should keep it plugged in only when the battery is not full, then unplug it once it's 100%, or can i keep it plugged in while using it? Is the latter more detrimental to the battery? 3) In the future if the battery dies (or some other battery related reason, such as battery is noticeably becoming worse - see first question), am i able to get it changed without having to replace the whole macbook? Replacing the logic board on macbook 2015 Posted: 25 Mar 2018 08:53 AM PDT I was looking to replace a broken logic board in my 2015 MacBook. I found a 2017 logic board for a good price, can I put a 2017 logic board in a 2015? I assume this would not work, but just wanted to check. [link] [comments]
Does the caldigit dock charge the same as the power adapter (won't overcharge)? Posted: 25 Mar 2018 05:15 AM PDT I have a 2017 MBP that I use as a second computer at home for the time being. I plan to eventually use it on deployments. I have it plugged into the caldigit TS3+ only when it's in use, which provides 85w of charging power. I recently read that the macbook power adapter stops charging when the battery hits 100%. Is that something that's specific to the adapter or the MB? Since I basically always have it charging when it is in use I don't want the dock to end up affecting the battery's life. [link] [comments] |
