Very disappointed. Third iPhone X in one week with problems, going to take it back tomorrow to exchange for 8plus, details in post

    Posted: 25 Mar 2018 12:47 PM PDT

First one had a bubble under the glass that could only be seen when the phone was on, only noticed when I got in, plus rear glass was cracked. Second one - dust inside the lens. Third one a charm? Nope, dust in the lens again AND the bezel under the home bar has a burr along the entire length that can be felt every time I swipe up (also sharp enough to remove finger nail material like a file if I run my nail across it.

I was ready to emotionally bond with my X and love it for years. But I don't think I can get another one now, it's ruined. Had a 6s plus before and loved it, was on the fence about The X or the 8plus when upgrading last week ... tomorrow I'm going to ask for a refund on the X and get the 8plus.

Also I don't appreciate the Apple store employees treating me like an ungrateful whiner, giving me bs about "the production process isn't perfect, it's fresh out of the box so you can expect edges to be sharp".

Go listen to Jony Ive for 5 seconds and you'll realise this is totally not what Apple is about.

You pay that much for the highest spec flagship phone, something that's arguably a professional piece of camera equipment (which is what I intended its main use to be) and it's better be flawless out of the box.

I just had to tell someone about this and also wanted to know if anyone else had similar issues.

Anyone thought of switching their X for the S9 Plus?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2018 01:25 PM PDT

Anyone in r/iPhoneX thought of trading in their X for an S9 Plus? I'm getting that case of "is the grass greener on the other side". While I love my X, the S9 Plus just looks so good.

So far the only Pro/Cons list I can come up with is:

    iPhone X:

    Pros:

    • Great form factor
    • Fantastic Screen
    • TrueDepth Camera
    • Stability
    • Guaranteed support and updates.
    • Snappy and responsive
    • Gestures have become my new favorite way of navigating, tried using an 8 Plus and finding myself swiping.
    • Despite what I've heard, I've had great battery life on this phone.

    Cons:

    • The model my carrier sells (T-Mobile) uses an inferior modem so I get a somewhat gimped cell connection.
    • Listed at 5.8" but screen real estate is supposedly less than the 8 Plus.
    • iOS while stable as hell, gets boring (although gestures do help and sometimes I find myself zipping through things out of sheer boredom)
    • Not all apps support the X screen ratio giving them a letter box feel.

    Galaxy S9 Plus

    Pros:

    • Better screen than the X which is already amazing.
    • 6.2" of usable screen real estate.
    • Dual Aperture camera.
    • Band 71 (600Mhz) support.
    • Better cell reception.
    • Android is customizable as all hell.
    • Fast charging without needing to buy an extra adapter.
    • Samsung loves to throw everything including the kitchen sink when it comes to features.

    Cons:

    • Battery life I hear is bad, and sacrifices are made to make it through a day.
    • As noted above, while they add all these features a lot aren't as fleshed out, and some come off as looking like an afterthought.
    • Samsung has had some of the worst support when it comes to updates and customer support.
    • Lots of bloat/duplicate apps.
    • Carriers still control when you get updates.
    • This new problem with dead zones on their S9 Plus screen has me concerned.

The reason I'm posting this is because I got my iPhone X on the Jump on Demand program through T-Mobile about two weeks ago so, I'm two weeks I can, if I want jump to an S9 Plus. I just wanted to really know if anyone has thought about doing the same?

    Face ID and Glasses

    Posted: 25 Mar 2018 07:16 AM PDT

How come when I wake up in the morning or in the dark, Face ID never works without my glasses on? I have tried setting it up with and without glasses and still nothing. Is there any tips you have to help me?

    Screen protector tips.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2018 02:42 PM PDT

I had a 2 pack of the iCarez screen protector. The first one I just tossed out because there was a bunch of dust on it when I had it installed. The second one is on and I still have some specs of dust. Which drives me up the wall!

What do you do to install a protector? Any special tips that you do so you get it dust free? Are there better protectos than the iCarez ones?

Also, side question. What's up with the black ring that goes around the edge of the screen protector?

Is my battery defective or just worn out already?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2018 05:47 PM PDT

I've owned the iPhone X for a month, and my battery seems to drain way faster than what Apple claims. My iPhone drained 50% in about 3 hours and 40 minutes by just using Reddit and Discord. Should I get a replacement?

Edit: It seems like my battery is acting normal, maybe it is just a little below average or maybe those particular apps take a lot of battery.

What is the best way to get Krazy Glue off the screen?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2018 09:06 PM PDT

I noticed the dried glue when I got home today. I have no idea how it got there. It's dried in a tiny place between the phone case, screen, and screen cover. Any idea on how to remove the glue without damaging the phone?
