    Weekly Support Thread

Hello! Welcome to this weeks Weekly Support Thread

This thread is to help answer all of your simple questions, and keep /r/AppleWatch's front page clean! Got a simple question? Get a simple answer. It's as simple as that. The thread's been set to sort posts randomly to push all sorts of questions to the top.

Before you ask, please make sure you've checked out our wiki's troubleshooting guide, searched it on Google, or used our subreddit search feature (wow, who knew that was a thing)! If you can't find an answer, you want some further insight, or you're just lazy, feel free to post your question here.

    What can I ask?

If you've been asked to post your question here, then go ahead! Otherwise, if your question is one or two sentences long, and is pretty simple (such as asking for recommendations, apps, troubleshooting, app issues, etc), go ahead. If you need a lot more investigation, or you're asking for many opinions, go ahead and post it elsewhere (it may be removed if it's too simple, or it's deemed to be more suitable for here).

    For your viewing enjoyment!

Thank you guys, I'm going to go the Apple Watch Way !

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 07:11 PM PST

Hey guys. I stopped drinking and smoking weed two weeks ago, and since then, I really fell the need the use the extra energy I'm given, so I started to go swimming twice a week, and I get really frustrated not being able to really track my progress.

Seeing all of you being so proud to complete the three rings nearly everyday made me want to do the same.

Thanks to you guys to have showed me how motivational it is to complete those daily objectives I can't wait to join the Apple Watch family, and use it as a reminder of why I stopped all these crap.

This subreddit has been really inspirational to me.

I'm not really sure if I can/should post this on this sub, but I wanted to thank you all, for showing me how what some people might consider as a gadget is really a tool that push you forward !

Can't wait to share with y'all my first week filling those three rings ! :D

    Backpacking trip

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 06:02 AM PST

I have a Series 3 LTE that I'm about to take on a 4 day backpacking trip. I thought it would be interesting to see how many calories I burn each day. In the interest of try to make my battery last as long as possible, I was going to turn on airplane mode and turn off raise to wake.

1- Are there any other settings that I missed that would help save battery life. 2-Are there any downsides to having it on Airplane Mode this long?

What apps can you not live without?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2018 07:34 AM PST

Looking for some apps that aren't as popular. No need to mention things like fantastical which is popular. Got any less-known apps that are really good? For example the workflow app is really good that not many people know about.

Siri and talk to text not working?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 06:04 PM PST

I got a series 3 watch on Monday, and today Siri and talk to text isn't working. Hey Siri no longer does anything, and when I hit the talk to text button, it doesn't record what I'm saying. Same thing when I pull Siri up manually. Anyone else experience this?

I haven't gotten it wet or dropped it or anything since I got it.

[Discussion] Hey Redditors, just how waterproof are series 3 watches? (Stainless steel mainly but also aluminum.) What’s your story?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 11:41 PM PST

I know it's water resistant up to 50 meters in a pool or ocean. It also says not for scuba diving but I've seen a post on here that showed it just fine while diving. How have you tested the limits on the waterproofing and how do comfortably get it wet and know you aren't pushing it to it's limits?

Currently unavailable on Apple.com and Amazon. They couldn't tell me when they would restock.

    Was this item discontinued?

Apple Watch and Music - battery life

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 03:24 PM PST

I recently got an Apple Watch Series 3 and I'm just wondering about how music playback affects battery life.

There's two different ways to listen to music when you're paired with your iPhone:

    1. Start playing a song on your iPhone. Now Playing appears on the Watch, you can control playback in a limited way (play, pause, go next and back through whatever album you selected on the phone.)

    2. Start playing a song with your Apple Watch itself. You can fully control playback and change to different albums etc.

The second method seems by far the better option to me, but I wonder is it worse for battery life?

It seems to me that for Option 1 the Watch is simply a remote control for what's playing on the iPhone. So it's only really using up battery when I'm playing, pausing etc.

However, with Option 2, the music is actually being played from the Watch.

    Do I have this right?

    Fitness Accuracy

I'm honestly not too sure that the fitness trackers are accurate. I reached my Stand Goal while eating KFC sitting down. I can appreciate the irony though.

[Question] After cleaning my watch with water today as specified on Apple’s website, my speaker sounds buzzy.

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 04:16 PM PST

I used the water ejection tool at least 10 times. Plus, There doesnt seem to be water on the speaker grills?

    Am I screwed?

Does the alarm wake me up without my family waking them up?

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 01:13 PM PST

If I wear the Watch to Sleep is the vibration heavy/strong enough to wake me up? What about in bedside mode, will it be loud enough for me to wake up? I'm a heavy sleeper by the way.

Brand New Apple Watch Problem! Any Help Appreciated!

    Posted: 25 Feb 2018 09:28 AM PST

So a while back I purchased my mom an Apple Watch for Christmas but she never got around to using it. Last night she finally decided to open it and we encountered a large problem. The watch screen remained black when holding down the power button so I assumed it was just dead. I proceeded to charge the watch and was given a green snake charging screen. I assumed everything was good and the watch would be fully charged within a few hours. I checked back a few hours later and it was still on the same screen. When I unplugged it and held down the power button it still showed no signs of life. My mom recommended to leave it charging over night so I decided to do that. Upon waking up the watch was still stuck on the same charging screen even though it was plugged in for over 12 hours. This is very odd because the watch was brand new. Can anyone recommend any solutions before I bring it into Apple? Thanks a lot!
