    Im coming from a chrome cast experience, and i love the ability to search and control all my content from my phone. After hearing about the recent disaster with youtube's app on ATV, im worried that ill be forced to deal with that shitty interface, since half of what i watch is on youtube.

    Star Wars: The Last Jedi 4K

    Someone in this subreddit claimed that The Last Jedi is showing up as 4K on the store on Apple TV 4K. I asked them to clarify, they never responded. I've checked iTunes on my Mac and iOS devices, only showing HD. Can anyone check on their ATV4K? Want to buy one through Directv's deal, but I'm not committing to this platform until Disney does.

    Apple TV goes black, comes back after few seconds

    So this happened a few months back but stopped doing it (not sure what it was)

    but it will randomly go black like its cycling input than come back. No reason, doesn't depend on the app etc... Ive changed the hdmi cord. Made sure the any connect is off on my Samsung tv. changed hdmi input.

    Any idea what could be causing it?

    might not happen for 5-10 minutes or will happen 5-10 times in a minute

    Soundbar for ATV4

    Hi All,

    Just wanting to know if anybody can recommend a brand/model of sound bar that would have the following:

    • HDMI Passthrough
    • Working CEC control for power and volume via ATV
    • CEC passthrough to the TV for power on/off
    • Airplay volume control (Not sure if this is possible)
    • Wireless Subwoofer

    Plex not transcoding

    I just bought an apple tv 4k, preciously using a shield and Roku. For some reason the apple TV is the only device I have that is throwing up errors in Plex when playing local content from my unRAID server.

    For example I have a movie that plays fine in Plex on the following devices

    iPhone

    Mac via Plex app

    Plex web interface in safari

    Roku

    Shield

    Xbox one

    The only device I get an error on is

    Apple tv

    Does anyone know what's going on? I'm about to return the apple tv

    Why do iOS games stutter on Apple TV?

    SFTP into remote server via AppleTV?

    I have a remote server (Raspberry Pi + NAS) that I use as my media repository. I can SFTP into it from my phone or laptop to stream movies when I am away from home.

    My girlfriend has an AppleTV 4th gen, and an AppleTV 2nd gen. I am wondering if there is an app or any method to connect to my remote server on either of these units? I would like her to have access to my media when I am not around.

    YouTube ads vs Chromecast on Apple TV

    I use YouTube to watch shows from Europe that I can't watch here and I just bought the Apple TV box. Compared to Chromecast Apple TV has a ton more ads and commercials that cut off my show vs Chromecast. I'm talking about like every 2-3 minutes on a 1 hour show. Does anyone know if I can eliminate these ads? It's definitely Apple TV and not a YouTube issue because when I use Chromecast to watch the same show I don't have this issue at all.

    Question about connecting to wifi network that requires a log in after connecting?

    I want to use my apple TV on a network that is for the whole building i live in. But the wifi requires you to login once connected with your apt # and password. How do I log in with my apt # and password on apple TV?

    Tried one at the Apple Store, I have a few questions

    I've been thinking of getting an Apple TV 4K to replace my Amazon Fire TV 4K (which I bought before the 4K Apple TV came out). I have everything else Apple so I figured why not.

    I was having a lengthy try-out session at the Apple Store and I noticed a few things that felt a bit off to me. So I wanted to ask actual owners about it in case the store demos are a little off.

    • Can you see thumbnails when seeking in Netflix? My Amazon Fire does this, but on the ATV it seems to use Apple's own player view so it didn't appear to show any thumbnails, or if it did they only appeared right at the end of my seek which is totally useless.

    • Is it easy to get used to the fast-forward/rewind gestures? I struggled in the store, it was really clunky.

    • What would you say are the benefits of an ATV over the Amazon Fire TV 4K?

    • Is the Amazon Prime Video app okay, or does it lag like crap? In the UK, we have a national broadcaster app called My5 and the interface was sub-20fps it was awful, probably because of poor 4K upscaling?

    • 64GB version recommended or unnecessary? I'm not exactly planning to use it as a games console (the games selection seems pretty crap anyway)

    • How does AirPlay work from a Mac? Could I AirPlay a specific video file or just mirror the screen?

    • Anything else you think I should know before I make a decision?

    Hbo GO App buffers

    Hi guys, do some of you have any problems after the latest update of the HBO GO APP(the icon is now white) . I've started watching Entorage and on some episodes it just stops and buffers for a second. I have an AppleTV 4k, and its wired. When I do a speed test it gives me my normal speed that I have. I don't have any problems with Amazon Prime and Netflix.

    Apple TV 3 (ATV3) Question?!.

    Dear community

    I purchased an ATV3 the week they were released, to this day I have yet to use it on a regular basis.

    It worked for mirroring MacBook to TV, I once had the UFC app, besides that I have never used it and found it of absolutely no significants to my household.

    Today I got an Amazon Echo, so ended up buying the entire Amazon Prime package which includes a decent media platform.

    I have a smart TV however the interface is useless, so I was wondering g whether Apple and Amazon have got over their dick measuring contest and allow cross selling of their services respectively.

    E.g. Can I now get an Amazon Prime Movies app on the ATV3?

    I would be really grateful for any advice as a google shows this was a popular search in December 2017 but can't find any evidence to show this is now the norm.

    Is the dream over? re: Siri Search on ATV(4th Gen)

    Apple touts the Apple TV as being the ultimate experience. But Siri Search only seems to work for mainstream movies and TV shows? F.e., VICE News on HBO Now has almost 300 episodes. I am subscribed to their Youtube channel. I don't want to watch it on Youtube but instead on the Apple TV. So I search the episode title I get nothing, despite being signed into HBO NOW on the Apple TV. Basically episode search is non-existent.

    This is the same Apple that claims to have 'cracked TV'. Yeah right. What a joke. Oh and the remote sensitivity is all over the place. Depending on if I'm on the home screen, different virtual keyboards it will either be over sensitive or under-sensitive. I don't get it anymore. Why did I bother with this device.
