Gaming on MacBook Air and the battery life Posted: 09 Jan 2018 04:39 PM PST I'm not finding any really clear answers on the web, so I'm hoping you guys can help me out! I have a MacBook Air 2017 which I just recently purchased about 2 months ago and I was wondering if I play games such as Minecraft or Old School Runescape if it'll affect my battery life or anything else. I'd like to change computers in 4-5 years so I want to make sure I don't screw that up for myself. Keep in mind I may play the games for a couple hours a day. Thanks for your help! Simple way to extract subtitles from VOB to SRT file? Posted: 09 Jan 2018 06:26 PM PST Hi! Is there a simple and easy way to extract only the subs from a DVD? Not the whole movie! I need to generate regular soft coded subtitles. I feel it should be easy, but I've been searching everywhere and can't find a good solution! Doesn't have to be free. Looks like D-Subtitler could do it, but it doesn't work on High Sierra. :( Any ideas will be welcome! Yes, this is an x-post. I'm also asking it on /r/mac /r/osx and /r/applehelp [link] [comments] |
Problems updating to High Sierra from Yosemite Posted: 09 Jan 2018 11:56 PM PST I bought a used Mac Pro with Yosemite installed. It works fine for internet but i can't get my iphone to sync with itunesso I thought i should update to the latest version. I tried updating to High Sierra 3 times - everytime the computer comes back up - it still has Yosemite as the operating system like I did nothing. Any ideas? I also tried updating Itunes - when i click update it says the new version that is available and then i go thru the process to update it and it stays the same - what could be preventing the computer from updating? Posted: 09 Jan 2018 10:41 AM PST I opened up my computer this morning, and I can't save anything. Not a .txt file from TextEdit, not a word Doc, no email attachments. Nothing. And not just on my hard drive either, on our local file server at work. Nothing. I can't seem to find anything on this. Any one have any ideas? I did update my OS to 10.13.2 to see if that would fix it, but it has not. edit: I did do the disk utility > Repair Permissions thing, still no dice. What happens when I try to save is I get the beachball, and the application goes into not responding. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Jan 2018 02:08 PM PST So I'm setting up my new Mac Pro, when it asks for my iPhone passcode and I put it in, and keeps saying the verification failed. Any help? https://i.imgur.com/KPz5IFW.jpg [link] [comments] |
Safari acting weird since the update. Posted: 09 Jan 2018 04:18 PM PST Since I've got the update back in December, Safari has been weird. When I reach 5-6 tabs the tabs don't show until I put the mouse on the screen of said tab. Let's say for example I want to google something real quick -> open Tab with the keyboard commands -> type in what I am looking for -> page stays grey until I go over the screen with the mouse. Does anyone have similiar issues, or is it my browser/computer. I also already deleted the history, cache and such. Shall I remove the Bookmarks and favorites too? I use a Macbook Air early '15 with the High Sierra 10.13.2 version. [link] [comments] |
Nervous about restoring work computer with a fresh OS install Posted: 09 Jan 2018 02:07 PM PST My computer is getting pretty bogged down, to the point where I think it's time to erase the hard disk and reinstall the operation system. I've never done this before, and since this is a work computer, I want to be extra careful that I can complete this project successfully. I've searched the Apple support pages, and it looks like a pretty straightforward process to restore the operating system and restore all of my backed up files. I have everything backed up through Time Machine on an external hard disk. I know that's the most important part. So my question is, before erasing the hard disk, besides deauthorizing my Adobe CS account and my iTunes account, what other things I should do before hitting erase? I'm sure it'll probably go fine, but I'm worried about things I don't know that I don't know and since this is a work computer I want to be extra sure of myself before I hit erase. I'm the only Mac guy in an office full of PCs, so I don't have anybody close by that I can consult for guidance. Thanks for your help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Jan 2018 05:22 AM PST I would imagine that there are atleast some people here with an Elgato thunderbolt 3 dock. Would anyone owning it be able to tell me if they also have issues with the sound ports on it? The output port seems to bring along a lot of noise with it that does not appear when using the combo-jack port on the MacBook pro it self. Also the input port makes my voice very bad so everytime I want to call someone, they will have trouble understanding what I am saying. [link] [comments] |

Macbook late 2013 upgrade (Adobe Suite) Posted: 09 Jan 2018 09:06 AM PST I have Macbook Pro (Late 2013) on Mavericks with dedicated GPU and 16GB Ram. Iam using Adobe Suite CS6 (After Effects/Photoshop/Premiere) And it t serves me very well. I want to learn new software (Da Vinci Resolve 14) and for it I would need to use newer OSX? What upgrade you recommand? Is it stable and reliable? Will I be able to use After Effects CS6 on it? [link] [comments] |
