Why does iOS insist on forcing me to use safari? Posted: 19 Jan 2018 10:20 PM PST When in Messages or Facebook Messenger and some other apps, links only open in Safari. I literally can't find anything via google on how to resolve this. I loathe safari cuz its a terrible browser. Especially the mobile version. You can't delete it and even if you disable it, apps just open links in a broken safari. And it saves all your previous links so safari always seems to have 30 tabs open even though I never use it. I feel like I bought a pair of $700 shoes that have that crumpled up paper stuffed into the toes but the shoe maker insisted on super gluing the paper in place for my own good... [link] [comments] |

Need help with the headphone jack on my iPhone 5S Posted: 19 Jan 2018 06:53 PM PST Hi everybody n.n So, this is the situation: I went hiking and in my backpack I had among other things my iPhone 5S and some bananas, I realized too late that this was a bad idea and the bananas had squished and gotten into the headphone jack, lightning connector and everything you can think of. I cleaned everything as best as I could but the (fortunately only) damage was done and only the left channel on my headphones was working, I tried with others and nothing, it was definitely the headphone jack. I bought the replacement part and fixed it myself with no issues at all, turned on the phone and my Mac recognized it and was charging, the mic works, the speaker too, everything... except the damn headphone jack, same as before, only the left channel is working. This is so confusing because i don't think it's the piece's problem anymore, and I already checked in the accessibility settings and the balance is set for both channels in stereo. What could be going on? Going to and apple store is not really an option as I'm running low on cash but I don't know if this is something I can fix. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jan 2018 11:06 AM PST Without getting into the gritty details, i've been getting out of order read receipts from order read receipts on iMessage from someone, and I'm 99% sure it is them toggling their read receipt on their phone on or off to whenever it is convenient for them. I'm posting this to ask if a) anyone else experienced anything like this and b) could it be a bug? i've done research and this seem like a bug in iOS 7 but not since then. [link] [comments] |
Iphone SE 64GB I can interact with the phone without touching it. Posted: 19 Jan 2018 02:30 PM PST Here's a video of the problem: https://imgur.com/tU6e8Xe You can see in the video that I'm not touching the phone, but I can still interact with it. This has been going on for 3 days now. I have tried factory resetting it and all that and I haven't dropped it lately. I thought it had something to do with static electricity, but I tried discharging myself and it still happened. It also seems only to be affecting me. When my sister used my phone nothing happened, but when she gave it back to me it started happening again. The phone has never been repaired and it's over 2 years old so no warrenty. Any help at all is greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Unable to update iOS or download apps - iPhone 6 - help needed! Posted: 19 Jan 2018 01:04 PM PST RESOLVED thank you Hi, I have an iPhone 6. Memory has been full for months (lots of travelling so lots of pics.) Because of the full memory I haven't been able to update the iOS for some time. I have deleted apps in order to clear space and take more photos. Today I finally got around to transferring all my pics to my hard drive and deleting them all from my phone, yay! So I have loads of free memory. I have tried to reinstall my favourite apps to no avail, I am logged in etc, just trying to download the apps back from the cloud but the thing just goes round and round and round and will not download. I have tried to update the iOS and I'm having the same problem. Took about 15 minutes doing its thing then just gave me an error message. So, I have memory. I have battery and I'm on charge. I'm on wifi. I have logged out and back into iTunes. I have reset my phone (home and power button) But still, nothing will download. Can anyone help? Please?! Thanks in advance!! [link] [comments] |
Switched from 6 to 8+ ... what do? Posted: 19 Jan 2018 08:49 AM PST So I got my iPhone 8 Plus today and so far I like it. What's the really cool stuff I have to try with this new phone? Until now I found out I can fly little plains through my apartment. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 19 Jan 2018 03:42 AM PST Since I upgraded to iOS 11 on iPhone 7 Plus, iMessage's no longer able to verify the phone number and fully activate it. The SIM card is from Gabon (+241) and I'm at this location. Before upgrading to iOS 11 (from 10.3.3) I used iMessage with no problems, it would verify the phone number and I could to start conversations from the phone number instead of only from the e-mail address. Somehow, on iOS 11 it removes the zero (0) after the international phone number code for activating iMessage and FaceTime, and without the prefixing zero the phone number is invalid. In countries like France, you must remove the zero after +33 if you want to dial the number in international format. But that does not apply to all countries. I had to turn off "Dial assist" to place calls using the international format become it would remove the zero when placing a call in international format but that persists in regards to iMessage/FaceTime activation even with the "Dial assist" turned off. I already tried all obvious potential solutions - restarting the phone, disactivating/reactivation iMessage, changing the region of the iPhone, changing the location for iMessage on the Apple ID, changing the phone number format on Settings/Phone (to international format and back) but so far it keeps on trying to verify the +241 XXXXXXX number with a missing zero after the +241... Any expatriates or travelling people experienced this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jan 2018 03:26 AM PST So earlier tonight my Iphone SE starts to glitch out. It was registering presses all over the phone screen while the top of the screen flickers. It no longer register physical presses so I forced reset it and restore from a backup from the previous night. Now it is usable but the touch screen is sometime unresponsive and it seems as if the center of the screenis constantly pressed down. I purchased my phone unlocked from Amazon last September. I have tried factory reset to no avail. On a possibly related note or coincidence. I updated my iOS to 11.2.2 last night. Ever since the update the phone keep asking me to register my credit card on my wallet. [link] [comments] |
