    Why do some apps prevent copy and paste? So frustrating! What is the design concept advantage in preventing you from copying and pasting? All the discussion is about how to copy and paste BETWEEN different apps. I'm wanting simply be able to copy and or paste within an app. The list of apps that prevent this is lengthy. Including sections of the app I'm on right now.

    Restrict app notifications only to a specific focus

    So I have a friend who constantly gets work email/message notifications during the weekend. I wanted to help them set up a focus so their work apps would only send notifications when they were on their work focus.

    I then realized I didn't think this was possible… Focus' only allows you to restrict all notifications except for the selected apps, but as far as I could tell/tested doesn't allow you specify that some app notifications can only come through when a specific focus is active.

    Is there really no way to do this (besides manually turning on/off the app notification). This honestly seems like a huge… limitation of focuses.

    Lock screen / watch face feature symmetry

    The new iOS lock screen is great and you can see that it borrows a lot of the customization with the widgets and portrait photos from the Apple Watch watch faces. But I noticed that some features don't exist on the other device and it would make more sense if these features were all present across these two devices (and hopefully with iPadOS 17 also on the iPad 😤). So here are my 2 points that would make the experience more symmetrical. (Feel free to correct me if they are already present, I don't have the betas)

    1) Link watch face to Focus mode - like you can link the lock screen to a Focus mode now

    2) Share lock screen layout (not just wallpaper) - like you can share a watch face arrangement

    Can you think of any more?

    Not getting texts from only one person.

    My mom and I are having issues with sending texts. Whenever I send a text it doesn't mark as "delivered" but she receives them. Whenever she sends me anything like photos, links or basic texts, they never send. They don't mark as delivered and they never get cancelled either. I just don't receive them. But I can text other people and it'll work.

    Can I disable the "extra Lock Screen" when using Sleep Focus?

    When activating sleep focus and then locking the screen, if I wake the phone again it has an extra prompt that I have to tap "close" on before I can unlock or see notifications (I've enabled notifications).

    I could probably use a different focus type, but the sleep focus is perfect with alarm etc (and this is what it's for). But I really dislike the extra Lock Screen, and I can't find a way to disable it.

    I'm listening to audiobooks when going to sleep, and it's really annoying when I just want to rewind 10 seconds if I missed something, because the "audio player" isn't showing until I tap "close" either, which makes no fucking sense.

    Does anyone know how to disable a home automation while I'm not in my house? It's very annoying to have to remember to turn off some lights that were turned on due to an automation that I only want to run while I am in home.

    Transferring from Google Photos to iCloud

    Want to transfer my photos from Google Photos to iCloud. Is there a way to do it in bulk or make the process less a nightmare?

    I have around 50 GB of images, trying to mass export them from Google and then import by pieces in Photos app is just impossible - you cannot import more than 200 photos at a time, some content is just not importing and you have do do it again, etc.

    Why is there still not an undo or redo selection when copying text in iOS? On top of that they make Paste and Cut so close together

    There's so many micro issues with iOS when you look at it from the perspective of how you use your device and for one I think more of the usability aspect and features to improve on instead of superficial UI cosmetic work they push out year after year it's just loosing it's core productivity and just things you'd think an Apple developer who develops and designs features would notice these by now.

    My biggest gripe is after 15 years we have the same keyboard with horrible accuracy and terrible autocorrection and a backspace button that's placed so annoyingly, my question is why don't they think or notice these. It's frustrating seeing such an amazing aesthetic appeal of hardware get ruined with an OS that undermines the product itself.

    Bootlooped iPad Pro 2018 cellular. Videos from YT don’t work, connecting it to a PC doesn’t show it on the computer as a device. Could the port be bad?

    FaceTime calls not coming through

    My mum and sister use FaceTime to call me. Recently quite often they will call me but my phone won't ring. No missed call no notification, nothing. She says the call goes through as normal and it just seems that I'm not answering the call so she hangs up after a while. So when I get a text with "why aren't you answering your phone" I have no idea what she's talking about because there's no missed call or anything. Same goes the other way. I'll call her, she won't answer and then she tells me her phone never rang. Has anyone come across this and knows how to fix it? I have restarted my phone recently. Both of us have iPads and it doesn't call on the iPad either. Seems to affect FaceTime only, but not on each call.

    Help with my Mother's Messenger app?

    Hello, my mom accidentally deleted our Facebook messenger messages, but they show fine for me. She doesn't have iCloud enabled. I'm pretty sure I've backed her ipad up by plugging it into her computer in the last year. I was wondering if I could either redownload her messages onto her ipad from there, or if I could somehow upload my messenger stuff to my iCloud, log in to her ipad and her account, and kinda reverse engineer it from there? That thread has some of the last pictures of my dad on there and she would really like them on her end again. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. If this isn't the right place, please point me in the right direction!

    is there a way to make my phone only charge when plugged in and not transfer data?

    currently on a road trip and I want to use the built in USB port in my car to charge my phone, but when i plug my phone in it overrides the bluetooth audio and tries to play media from the usb port - which has never worked, it always says it can't detect any media. I'd like to just charge my phone, is there a way to prevent my phone from transferring data? The little prompt doesn't come up when I plug it in

    I've decided to put Spotify aside for podcast listening & give the iOS stock podcast another shot. I have left both apps on my phone to test & one pet peeve so far is that it seems Spotify provides notifications of new episodes a lot more than the iOS stock app.

    Is there a way to change the frequency it checks for new episodes? Why would the stock app be slower?

    Tech help needed

    Ok here it goes. Dad has 6plus on att. Orders new iPhone. 6plus gets disabled before new iphone arrives. Ugh. New phone shows up and works fine. The old phone sim is disabled and says connect to itunes. Family ends up mailing me the phone since i have some experience. I have a windows machine and a mac. Phone not recognized by either machine. Put iPhone in dfu mode and registers connect to itunes on windows. Iphone is on ios 11 or 12. Itunes wants to update to 12.5.5 but there is no room. 3gb update. Still cant unlock phone. I have passcode. Phone has been long paid off with att but i requested a factory unlock just in case. I have tried 3rd party iphone managers imobie dr fone etc but nothing. Since i cant access passcode unlock screen i cant get any data off to complete update. Any help would be appreciated. I would really like to get these photos for my dad for fathers day. Photos are of his bonsai and grandchildren. Before anyone gets snooty, i have the icloud credentials too. Thank you reddit. You are the best.

    What the hell happened to “Find my iPhone” using Apple TV??

    Before the latest update (or maybe it was a few cycles ago) if I invoked Siri on my ATV and said "where's my iPhone?" It would ping my phone in my house and play the sound so I can find it.

    Now it just gives some generic message about using Find My and "sorry I can't help find your device".

    This was one of the best features and now they removed it for some head scratching reason.
