Would love to get previous iPhone generation wallpapers as part of an update

    Posted: 01 May 2022 12:39 AM PDT

I know that wallpapers right now are a part of a marketing move in iOS. If you buy the iPhone 13, you only get the iPhone 13 wallpapers + iOS version wallpapers for example.

I would just love to get all previous iPhone wallpapers (iPhone 7 - iPhone 12) in an update. I'm craving for an iPhone X wallpaper that I'm unable to find in high resolution.

Like if you buy an iPhone 11 you would get all previous one, not the new one (to kinda respect their marketing decision)

iPhone 13 Pro without screen protector

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 04:34 PM PDT

Hi guys, I would like to take off my screen protector after I saw how nice it is to type without it on my friend's phone and it even looked bit crisper. I am on 13 Pro and I was wondering if any one of you is using it without sceen protector, and how is your experience with scratching?

How long do you keep your iPhones?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 04:33 AM PDT

I have the iPhone 13 Mini and I could see myself keeping it for a long time.

Why is the end call button directly under the answer button?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 12:10 PM PDT

When you answer from the top of the screen, you press the green accept call button and then immediately under that is the end call button.

Accidentally cancelling calls is just part of the experience at this point.

    Swap it with another function.

    Edit: for reference https://imgur.com/a/YVt7RYZ/

Edit2: Not "under", directly in line with? In the exact same place as?

How much battery does your iPhone lose overnight?

    Posted: 01 May 2022 07:07 AM PDT

I see a lot of people saying iPhones do not lose a lot of percentage when on standby or idle.. But mine loses about 15% overnight when I didn't even used it.. Plus it is only a month old iphone 13..

Who has went from a 6.7” to a 6.1” iPhone?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 07:58 PM PDT

Looking to get some of the pros/cons from those who have went from a iPhone Max model phone to the regular 6.1" iPhone. Wondering if people who have done it regret it the decision or if they have been happen with the smaller phone.

An Android user asks: what do you like/love about your iPhone?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 08:19 AM PDT

Please read through to the end. :)

I'm an Android user, currently rocking a Z Fold 3. I love the phone, the OS, everything about it. I also (and this is mildly clear in my comment history, I suppose) don't really like iPhones. I recently sold my last Apple device (iPad Pro 11") and am now, for the first time in years, completely free of Apple's ecosystem. I have a PC, my Fold 3 (and my old S21+ is still kicking around), a Chromecast, and a Galaxy Watch 4 as my main devices. I have repeatedly (and uninformedly and ignorantly, perhaps) said that Steve Jobs dying sealed Apple's fate. They'd be gone in fifteen to twenty years.

Clearly that's not going to be the case.

But -- that's the point of this post. I hope the mods let it go through because I really want to make an effort here. I was watching Ted Lasso this past weekend (on Apple TV, which thankfully had an app on my Chromecast) and he said something in the "Darts" scene that got me thinking. It was the quote from Walt Whitman (which, it turns out, wasn't ever said or written by Whitman), the one that goes, "Be curious, not judgmental."

I have been very judgmental of Apple, and iPhones in particular (I'm a phone nerd, through and through), and I don't like that. I want to change it. I hope you guys can/will help me be curious, rather than judgmental.

To be clear, I doubt my mind will be changed here. My Fold is awesome, and I love the Android OS, even after Google mangled version 12 (Samsung took some of the worst parts out of 12, thank the phone gods). I'm not looking to be convinced or swayed or anything. I simply want to know, to really listen this time, to what you guys like and/or love about your iPhones (again, phone nerd). What makes them great? What keeps you from trying an Android? Why do you recommend iPhones to your friends and family?

If the mods let this go up, thank you mods. If it goes up and you comment, thank you for your comment. I'm going to read them all. I don't want to be ignorant anymore, I don't want to cling to my biases and opinions. I wanna know why Apple people buy Apple stuff (the iPhone in particular). I want to understand.

    Thanks.

My Experience as a Lifetime Android User Switching to iPhone: Two Weeks In

Why is there still no confirmation toggle for contacts?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 05:18 AM PDT

There should be a confirmation toggle for calling / sharing / texting certain contacts. It's still way to easy to accidentally text or share with people by accident. Apple should make a toggle that allows you to define a confirmation dialogue for a contact when you're about to call / share / text. This would save thousands of people every year from embarrassment or worse consequences.

Will Apple make a proper white iPhone again?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 04:19 PM PDT

I used to always buy my iPhones in white back in the day, but now I can't stand them.

Imo a proper white phone is fully white (except the screen of course). iPhones now have the full front panel balance, which means onto the sides and back are white.

I get that it's cheaper to keep the same front panel for all colours and uniform, but it stylistically looks worse to me.

Anyone else prefer a proper white iPhone?

Does anyone know which is the latest model of the iPhone that doesn’t force auto HDR and deep fusion and all these hideous processing effects onto photos the way the iPhone 13 does?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2022 08:35 PM PDT

I'm truly shocked by how awful the iPhone 13 pro photos are and the fact that apple has removed the option to turn off auto HDR. Example: https://imgur.com/a/2x2e2Su.

It's like I see a good and normal photo in the camera screen before I take a picture, and then I take the photo and all the highlights get blown out and the saturation boosts by 25% and everything gets auto sharpened. Not to mention the weird oil painting effect that happens to objects in the background or the low-light effects which auto boost the brightness.

I'm trying to shoot with Halide's camera or to use burst mode/Live Photo frames to mitigate it, but it's still a huge inconvenience and none are foolproof solutions. I took the $700 Verizon trade-in deal and upgraded from my XS, but I'd rather pay more money for an older model at this point that lets me actually control what happens to the photos I take. Just wanting to verify which is the latest model I can get that doesn't do this to photos.

What do you think is the best iPhone color ever?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2022 11:56 AM PDT

IMO the Coral iPhone Xr is the best color. However, the Slate finish on the iPhone 5 worked really well with its design and is probably tied.

Psa for people experiencing iMessage activation issues

    Posted: 29 Apr 2022 08:57 AM PDT

Does your iMessage keep deactivating? Are you getting continued "activation unsuccessful" error messages?

Remove your cellular plan and then contact your carrier's rep to re-activate your phone. This has been the only solution I've found to this issue.

    Good luck!

Since the non pro iPhone 14 is rumored to come w the A15 instead of A16, how do y’all think apple will handle it in their lineup to make it different from the standard 13 if so?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2022 09:20 PM PDT

What I'm thinking are 2 options

    1) Apple will keep the standard 13 BUT somehow make some extra software features exclusive to the 14 series like AOD as an example or etc. Maybe add 120hz to make it feel faster if it won't be faster w the A15.

    2) Apple will discontinue the standard 13 BUT keep the 13 Mini as a placeholder for the middle spot between the 12 & the standard 14, if they can't find enough differences for the standard 13 vs standard 14

    What do y'all think?

I undersrand why the iPhone 5 and 5C are considered vintage but not the 5S (yet), but why is the iPhone 6 Plus also considered vintage? Also, why then isn't the regular iPhone 6 vintage?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2022 09:21 PM PDT

    iPhone products vintage worldwide

    iPhone 4 (8GB)
    iPhone 4S
    iPhone 5
    iPhone 5C
    iPhone 6 Plus

IMO, the iPhone 14 Max won't be called Max.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2022 02:38 AM PDT

It just doesnt make sense. With the M1 Pro and M1 Max they established that Max is more premium then Pro, and so really this would just be weird. Seems like Apple, a company known for trying to keep it simple, would never do that.
