| Mail app not responding upon opening and slow to launch Posted: 20 Apr 2022 01:30 PM PDT Hi everyone, I hope I can find some help in regards to why the Mail app gets stuck opening on my M1 MacBook Air. I think this started happening ever since the very latest update (not beta), however I'm not 100% sure. When I click on the Mail app it just takes a long time to open, if I right click on the icon it says "Application not responding", checking the Activity Monitor the process doesn't take up any memory until the app actually opens. I've tried force quitting the app, rebuilding it, removing any account that may have had issues connecting to servers, deleting several com.apple.mail folders within the Library/Containers path. Is this happening to anyone else? Is there anything else I can try to fix it? It's very annoying. This is the only app that seems to have slowed down on my laptop. Thank you for any help in advance. I was wondering if there is a better way to use ipad as a drawing screen other than simply mirroring your screen via sidecar. Few awkwardness things I've noticed when trying different apps/setups
Has anyone encountered this dilemma and found any workable solution? Maybe ditching iPad for drawing tablet is the only way but I wanted to check if I can use what I already have, especially since both are always part of my travel setup anyway. [link] [comments] | ||

Of course this requires me testing various alternatives such as mail clients, media player and whatnot, and since I am switching from Windows, where applications leave a lot of unwanted stuff after uninstall I wonder whether I should worry about it when testing apps on the Mac? Posted: 20 Apr 2022 03:51 AM PDT For the first time in 5 years I used my Macbook without WiFi, and it struck me that those buttons (Previous, Pause, Next) don't work in Itunes without Internet. Notification center widget buttons also don't work. As soon as I connect to WiFi, they all start working. Is it supposed to be like? And what logical explanation is behind this? I have a rather old OS (10.14.6 macOS Mojave), can it be the cause? If you have newer macOS, could you please check, if it is the same? And explain me the issue, if you know, what's going on. Thanks! | Posted: 20 Apr 2022 01:05 PM PDT I have a problem with my Mac Mini M1 on 12.3.1. I get no sound when I try to stream music via airplay to my mac from my iPhone or iPad. Sound works again after a reboot, but when I wake the mac up from sleep, airplay sound stops working again. Streaming videos on the other hand works every time, even after sleep and with sound. | Mac suddenly stuttering everywhere Posted: 20 Apr 2022 10:23 AM PDT I'm running Big Sur 11.6.1 on a Macbook 13-inch M1 2020, and all of a sudden today my mac screen is now stuttering every 10 seconds across all apps, no matter what I'm doing. It's especially noticeable when I'm typing or with video playback. I first noticed on video playback in Apple TV, and I thought it was judder, but I checked using playback from YouTube, and it's stuttering there, too. When opening an app in dock, if it has been 10 seconds since the last stutter, the icon animation will stutter. All audio playback is normal. I didn't make any changes to system preferences. I wouldn't even know to change the screen refresh rate, there's no option for it anywhere. I've tried restarting my laptop three times, but the problem is still here. What could be going wrong? | Time Machine Fails for Lack of Space After Monterey 12.3.1 update Posted: 20 Apr 2022 09:06 AM PDT My Time Machine backup is roughly 5.4 TB, from the internal HD plus one external drive. The destination drive is 8TB, which could be bigger but was very much sufficient to store a back plus several older snapshots until I upgraded from 12.3 to 12.3.1. I do not generate a lot of new or revised documents, photos, etc daily so the drive should have plenty of rom for one complete plus a good number of differential snapshots going back weeks. Suddenly Time Machine says my backup drive has just 74GB available and clams it cannot complete a backup and I have no snapshots older than the day after I upgraded earlier this week. I have not seen other reports of 12.3.1 causing this issue but wonder if I missed them or if there are other possibilitiesor solutions. [link] [comments] | ||

I use an app called eqMac as an equalizer for my bookshelf speakers. I turn off the equalizer when I am working on music production and want a flat response. The app shows up as its own audio device, and every time I turn it off and on again, the Alerts and Sound Effects setting in Audio MIDI Setup switches back to eqMac output. I want alerts and sound effects to play through the Macbook's built-in speakers, because when any sound effect plays through eqMac into my bookshelf speakers, it's extremely loud and annoying. I've tried to delete and download them again but it still doesn't work. The applications name comes up in the left corner but disappears after 5 sek and it just shuts down. | Battery Health drops 98% to 92% in 1 WEEK - MBA M1 (Monterey 12.3.1) Posted: 20 Apr 2022 07:28 AM PDT I'll cut it short: I've owned my MacBook for almost a year now - battery life has been exceptional. I always had optimized charging on (although never worked for me) and rightfully steered clear from apps like AlDente for as long as possible. ..until last week, and I regret it by all means. I set the charge limit to 80% and used my mac plugged/unplugged 50/50. Battery health dropped a % or two, so I thought it's a simple case of miscalibration (as mentioned by the AlDente developer here) and I can eventually fix it. When I saw it go down to at 93% yesterday I immediately uninstalled it and started the recalibration procedure as suggested. But after charging it fully at 93% BH, I see another sudden drop by 1%. I'm panicking. Have I messed up my perfect laptop? Is there any hope with the recalibration process? PSA: To those considering AlDente for their MacBooks, please don't. All the criticisms are true.
