First time apple watch user - I need some recommendations

    Posted: 18 Apr 2022 05:44 AM PDT

Hello, so a few weeks ago I got iPhone 11 and since I had a chance to try the apple watch I was just amazed and needed to get one. There are a few things I wonder about:

    1. When I want to pick up a call from my watch/make a phone call (using the GPS only version) - do I need to have bluetooth turned on?
    2. I would like to install Pocketcasts which is my podcast app of choice and I do know it had an apple watch version too. I wonder - when I download a podcast in my phone app, will it be mirrored to watch for offline listening too or do I need to download it separately on my watch?
    3. I would like to keep this watch for as long as possible since it's not cheap (for me). How should I treat the battery? On my iPhone I use the 40-80% rule and it works great for me. I know that the apple watch has a small battery, so what do you recommend for the battery health longevity?
    4. Apple watch doesn't come with a charging brick and I use 20W brick for my iPhone - since it's USB-C to lightning I won't be able to use it for the apple watch. Can I use power bank for charging without worrying it might cause some possible battery degradation?
    5. Let's say I start listening to the podcasts using my phone, but then I'll want to transfer it apple watch - how do I do that?
    6. In those cases I'll want to use apple maps on my watch - do I need to have mobile date on on my phone or is the GPS in the watch enough for them to work?
    7. When I switch the apple watch to silent mode, will they still vibrate? E.g. for notifications or alarms/timers?

If all I’ve done was sleep, how is my watch calculating a sleep heart rate and a rest heart rate before I’ve started any at activities?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2022 04:48 AM PDT

My sleep heart rate for overnight is 70 bpm, and my resting heart rate is 63 bpm. How is it able to calculate a resting heart rate (before I've woken up and performed any non-sleep activity) when I've been asleep all night?

I just started wearing my watch to sleep and it's been doing this for the past 3 days. My resting heart rate has also seemed to decrease as a result although I've read that the sleeping and resting heart rate are separate. I'm wondering if something is wrong with my watch.

Edited to clarify a little. I'm interested in understanding how the watch has collected my resting heart rate if all I've done is sleep, which is technically different from resting.

    Bootloop after cleaning

    Posted: 18 Apr 2022 07:09 AM PDT

    Hi everyone!

Hope this is the right sub.

I usually clean my Apple Watch (2 series 42mm) in an ultrasonic bath with just clean water. Never had problems with it. Would also usually recommend this, but this time I used a different ultrasonic bath. In this one it seems that the water gets heated a bit. Not boiling but warm.

Anyway i usually keep checking the bath and this time i saw the watch booting. Since then I tried the Tipps online with force booting by holding crown and side button. With and without charging cable. Since then I accomplished 2 boots which crashed into boot loop within a few seconds.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Bedside mode not working

    Posted: 18 Apr 2022 06:05 AM PDT

Hi all, I purchased Apple Watch Stand hoping to use Apple Watch as bedside clock. But the "Beside mode" is not working for me despite having right setting and updated software on both Watch and iPhone. Please suggest a solution to fix this.

Edit to add more details. -Using iPhone X R and Apple Watch 5 -More about problem: The screen turns off after 5 seconds while on charging. I was hoping to get solution which will keep the screen on while the Watch is charging. It still says Bedside Mode (and not Nightstand Mode) on my watch and phone.

    Apple Watch complications

I love my Apple Watch, I just don't really find useful complications. Which complications would you not like to miss anymore? Which ones do you recommend?

    Watch Band - Large Sizes

    Posted: 18 Apr 2022 04:42 AM PDT

    Hi There,

I'm looking at getting an apple watch, howver I'm on the larger side and seem to have blown past all the measurments on the wrist printout, I was wondering if anyone might have a good recommendation for a band that would fit around 12-13 inches, or if I'm just doomed.

    Cheers
