I thought it was some spooky thing that the creators have installed in the series but I turned off the subtitles and it doesn't dim anymore! Is there a fix to this? Posted: 18 Apr 2022 07:27 AM PDT At my school, every classroom has an Apple TV (most are 3rd Gen but we are slowly upgrading them all to Apple TV HD) and we use them to AirPlay our screens from our MacBook Airs that the teachers use. Here recently, the teachers have been getting new M1 MacBook Airs, and now we have an issue where the Apple TV name won't show for AirPlay display for the Macs. The Macs are on their own WiFi, and the Apple TV's are on their own VLAN (they are all wired), but we've enabled the VLAN to be accessible to the WiFi Network. There are some 3rd Gen Apple TV's that all of a sudden show up on the list of available TV's only sometimes. We've started to forcefully update them all to the latest Apple TV software update 7.9 with some luck. Any suggestions to fix this? ( Im asking this because I'm a student, and a lot of teachers ask me about this issue since I help a lot of teachers with their tech stuff, and I don't really know what to tell them when the Apple TV doesn't show up on their list. Posted: 18 Apr 2022 05:12 AM PDT Has anyone else noticed that the YouTube app, when looking on the App Store, hasn't been updated since June 13th of last year? Is this somehow just an issue with my setup?? (Yes, Automatic updates are turned on) The app is buggy as hell. Really, it's just awful… and last night, in a particularly annoyed state, I went to the App Store to manually check for an update, and there it was… nothing since June 13th, 2021. And I know there's some that say that Google and Apple don't really get along, and that Google is just trying to make Apple look bad/steer them towards their chromecast devices… and there's most likely some truth to that theory. But the YouTube app on my Apple iPhone seems to get updated at least once a week! (I checked, 6 times in the past month) And I know that Apple TV can be considered a bit of a niche product, but there's millions of us. YouTube updates the app on my phone constantly but they really can't be bothered to throw us a frickin bone and make their app just a tiny bit more usable?! I mean, I certainly don't love YouTube and the shady/stupid way they run things, but if I'm honest, it's gotta be one of the most popular apps, and it's definitely the one I use the most. Posted: 18 Apr 2022 03:30 AM PDT Is there any real difference if I just want to watch 1080p video, AirPlay my phone and have a smooth experience on the user interface? I'm not too fussed about the remote either, unless the new remote is leaps and bounds better. I can buy a decent-ish condition Apple TV with remote for £70 ($90ish including taxes) compared to £139 ($180 including taxes) so feel like it would be the best way to go but just want something that will last me a few years.
