    Hi! I wrote an email to Craig Federighi who is the senior vice president of software engineering at Apple to ask him about explanation how does exactly iOS auto-update feature actually works. I was inspired to ask him after reading some Reddit posts and news online about customers complaining that iOS auto-update feature working slow (sometimes even whole month after iOS update release they receive a notification) or not working at all (in my case included).

    Every time the new owner of my old iPhone saves a number on it it gets saved on my new iPhone that I’m currently using.

    I gave away my old iPhone 8 to someone else and logged out of mu iCloud account and even removed made sure that iPhone is no longer connected to my iCloud account. Now every time they save a new number on it, it gets saved on the new iPhone I'm using. What could be going on and how do I stop this? It's making me uncomfortable because I'm wondering if they have access to the content I have on my new iPhone.

    I know that apple does not allow third party apps to read SMS but I can track all my expenses in my android using Walnut app. I'm considering switching to the iPhone and so I was wondering if there's an alternative. Thanks in advance!

    iPhone name, my iPhones name keeps on changing from my names iPhone to something else

    At first I thought I did it by mistake and it said iPhone(4) and then a while later it became iPhone(6) and I just changed it back to my names iPhone from iPhone(7). Is this a known issue? Any fixes?

    I want my phone to ring and vibrate when called, but notifications should only vibrate, no sound

    As far as I know, I cannot get this to work.

    I have the switch on the side of my phone turned on (i.e. my phone is NOT muted), such that when I get called my phone makes noise and vibrates. What I don't want is that notifications (such as text messages) to make sound. But, I do want notifications to vibrate.

    Right now I have turned off sound for notifications for all apps under Settings --> Notifications. The problem is that turning off sound also turns off vibration.

    Is there any way to achieve what I want?

    Safari crashes, white screen

    When I open Safari, it shows white screen for a few seconds, and then crashes. I did the delete websites data in Settings, and restart, but they didn't help.

    Any idea how to resolve this?

    Storage solutions

    Looking for the best solution to store documents and photos, that is not Dropbox/OneDrive/Google. Open to iCloud but in my experience is it's not easily accessible or easy sharing to other apps. I use windows and iOS and just want an easy way to scan docs and upload all of my photos over the years at full quality.

    So YouTube Lock Screen playback via Safari works again. I haven’t installed the YouTube app on the phone, so maybe why I can do it. I’d like to see if more of you can comment with your findings.

    Turn first half of Live Photo to long exposure

    Hey all, I want to see if any one has had this use case. I took a cool picture of a bird in water and it's a Live Photo. Turning it to a long exposure is an amazing effect for the photo, but the birds head is blurry because it moved at the end. I tried cutting the live in half which is good when playing. But when I convert it to long exposure, it also reverts to the full live. Any tips?

    My wife has an iPhone 11. It's almost 2 years old. It does this super annoying thing where it sometimes will turn the screen off during a phone call. The person is still there but she cannot access speaker phone or the dialer or anything at all. I've trying completely reseting the phone and restoring from backup but it still does it. Any ideas of what what would fix this? I would say this happens about 40%-50% of her phone calls so definitely enough to be quite annoying. Thanks 🙏🏻

    I recently updated my iPhone 13 pro max to iOS 15.4 . Prior to updating to iOS 15.4, when I used sites like linktree and other sites (including a website for link sharing that im building) that have 3rd party app links to users profiles, I would click on the link (like snapchat or instagram for example) provided by the persons page, and it would directly open the app associated with the link (provided said app was downloaded on my phone) and directly go to that users profile. I know this is done through universal linking. However, Ever since I updated my phone, when I now click the same links, it takes me to the browser version of the page first, then a pop-up notification asks me: "Open this page in "*****?" once I click open, it then opens the app. The odd thing is that I have a second iPhone that is also running iOS 15.4 and I am not having this issue. On that device, when I click on the snapchat, TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.. links, it directly opens the associated app with no prompt. I also have a profile for all my links and I dont want people to encounter this issue when opening my links. Does anyone know if this is an issue with either safari, iOS 15.4, or my phone/browser settings? is there a better way I can set my links up as deep links or universal links for user profiles on my site for people to post?

    ios 15.4 , not charging above 80%

    iPhone 12 , 6 months old , 100% battery health Using 15.4 , since the day it came out. For the past two days my phone charges till 80% then just refuses to go to 81. Today , it charged it till 80 & even after an hour it was still 80. Tried turning optimised charging off , using different adapter. no change What fixed the issue was just restarting the device. Was wondering if anyone was having a similar issue , I obviously don't want to restart it while charging everyday.

    Can't update COVID-19 QR code in Apple Wallet

    Hello,

    I used CVS to get my COVID-19 vaccines. After the first 2 does, I was able to add it to Apple Wallet using the QR code from CVS website. I then had my 3rd dose and CVS generated a another QR code. When I tried to use iPhone (running iOS 15.4) camera to scan the updated QR code, I have the option to "Add to Wallet and Health". I selected that option. However, I kept getting the message "Unable to add to Wallet. The vaccination record has been added to the immunizations in health. The vaccination card could not be added to Wallet at this time".

    I tried to removed the old COVID-19 card (2 does) in the Wallet app but still can't add the new card showing the 3 does.

    Anyone else has this issue?

    Dream iOS features?

    Inspired by this other thread about dream iPhone features, what are some nice features you'd like iOS to have?

    Here are some of mine off the top of my head:

    1. Clipboard, and clipboard history with pinned (saved) clips. I think Samsung phones have this out of the box, and I think there are keyboards for other phones with this feature. Super convenient.
    2. Separate volume controls for different things/apps. Texts, calls, one app vs. another.
    3. On the iMessage app, a way to archive messages. Again, Google's messaging app has a way to hide messages without outright deleting them. I like to keep records of things, even those 2FA messages, so I'm not keen on deleting threads.
    4. Wishful thinking but support for iMessage on Windows/Chrome (or any browser). I happen to have a Surface Pro which I enjoy very much, the form factor especially, and it's a shame I cannot reply to texts as I'm using it because of the closed ecosystem. Yes, MacBooks are nice, and this is very specific to me, but I like having a detachable keyboard (one less failure point... the joints to worry about). I thought that maybe iPads would first support a full OS before iMessage was made available on Windows or other OSes, but now with the EU's DMA, I may be wrong. If Apple ever makes an iPad with a full desktop OS or a MacBook with an iPad form factor this would be a non-issue, again for me.
    5. I'm sure I'm forgetting some others I can't think of right now. External drive encryption compatible with Windows?

    I actually don't use my phone much, hence the iMessage pain point, but yeah, these would all be nice (for me anyway).
