Fresh Install of Monterey without Wifi Posted: 30 Mar 2022 03:28 AM PDT So, I have recently done a complete wipe of a macbook pro 2021. I have an install file on an external hard drive. I run in recovery mode, start the install then it tells me to connect to the internet. Problem is I don't have access to wifi, I have Ethernet but no wifi. I have tried connecting to Ethernet via a USB-C to Ethernet dongle but it does not connect?Does anyone know a potential work around? [link] [comments]

How to delete installEsd in mac? Posted: 30 Mar 2022 05:01 AM PDT Hi, whenever I want to empty the trash it says "InstallESD.dmg" can't be modified or deleted because it's required by macOS. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Mar 2022 03:10 AM PDT Hi. I have an external BluRay writer (Hitachi-LG) that I use for data backup om M-discs. It worked fine in BigSur, but with my update to Monterey, I don't see the BluRay device. I can't even use it to read my existing Blurays. Did Apple really removed any support for physical discs for MacBook Pros? Or is there something I can download and install? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Mar 2022 02:31 AM PDT I have always been a Windows user, so excuse me if I'm not using any proper terminology or lack any of the basics. I recently got the new 2021 Macbook Pro, and I've had no real issues. However, when I first got it, I noticed that the mouse acceleration was on by default and that there was no setting in System Preferences to turn it off. A quick google search showed me that the terminal command: defaults write .GlobalPreferences com.apple.mouse.scaling -1 However, after trying multiple times with different values and trying the equivalent command for trackpad (as opposed to mouse), I didn't notice any change in the mouse acceleration. The terminal didn't give me any errors, and I tried restarting the machine multiple times. I thought nothing of it and moved on, and just decided I could try to use third-party software in the future if the mouse acceleration really bothered me down the line. Again, today, however, I wanted to see if I could make the dock animations (such as the three-finger swipes) faster since it was also bothering me. Once again, google showed me the command: "defaults write com.apple.dock expose-animation-duration -float 0.15" (followed by killall Dock) However, once again, I didn't notice any difference. I tried setting the value to 0 (which should just turn off the animations altogether) and I tried restarting the machine again, but still, nothing changed. Other standard terminal commands have been working fine, so I'm not sure why these "defaults" commands are not working. Does anyone have an idea? [link] [comments] |
