How can garmin and other brands continuously measure HR without sacrificing battery life? Posted: 04 Feb 2022 11:10 PM PST My GF has a new garmin device, and to my surprise it continuously measures heart rate while the battery lasts for days. I tried to do a continuous HR monitor with my apple watch tonight but after 7 hours it had 0% battery life left, started at 100. Due to the continuous reading of my watch this night I could finally see how many times my heart rate peaks. Something I have never seen with normal wear. But battery was dead before I woke up. I'd like to see more continuous HR. What can be the differences between devices? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Feb 2022 12:14 AM PST So series 6 shows update ready to install in the watch app, on charger and 100% charged, but update won't start - I always get a 'Installation Paused - to install the update, Apple Watch must be connected to the charger and charged at least 50%' Any advice? PSA: The biggest battery drain is raise to wake, a lot more so than the always on display Posted: 04 Feb 2022 09:12 AM PST I see this misconception a lot all around the internet, and whenever the topic of improving battery life on apple watch is raised no one ever mentions the fact that raise to wake is a massive battery drain, and the no.1 battery draining factor. From my experience raise to wake uses up atleast twice as much battery than the AOD on my Series 5 40mm, with 82% battery health. In my experience, 90% of the time when i'm interacting with the watch I either need to use both hands or siri - therefore raise to wake isn't necessarily useful at all. The whole point of the always on display is to give information at a glance i.e. the current time, complications etc without the need to activate the watch itself. Therefore the combo of AOD on with raise to wake off is completely usable, and a great deal more battery efficient than having AOD off and raise to wake on. Furthermore, with watchOS 8 the watch AOD capabilities are much better than previously, including features such as displaying incoming notification pop ups purely on AOD, and keeping apps 'alive' on AOD rather than the way they'd revert to the time screen in previous versions. TLDR; Having raise to wake off with AOD on allows my 82% battery health series 5 to easily give me 16 hours of battery life every day consistently, whereas when i had raise to wake on (and AOD off) I wasn't able to even get through the whole day and was strongly considering replacing my battery. Posted: 04 Feb 2022 05:12 PM PST The last week or so, my watch has been in a constant boot cycle when it's on the charger. It's the series 3, with Nike+, and today while I was at dinner, it died on my wrist, which has never happened. It was at 100% when I left for work this morning, 13 hours ago, and it saw no use that I'd consider out of the norm for me. Is this software related? Seems highly unlikely that it'd be hardware, being all at once… [link] [comments]
What do you do with the boxes? Posted: 04 Feb 2022 08:48 PM PST Sometimes when I buy something that comes with a nice box, I don't know what to do with the box. If you have cool ideas for making use of boxes, let me know in the comments below, Apple Watch/phone boxes [link] [comments]

Battery drain after watchOS installed Posted: 04 Feb 2022 07:03 PM PST Series 4 and updated to version 8.4.1 with 85% battery health. Last charged to 80% at 12:30am currently at 15% at 10:02. A full charge usually lasts me 2 days. Does any one else have this problem? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Feb 2022 06:50 PM PST I brought a S7 apple watch 2 days ago (cellular version) ands I've been using it as a phone basically. I charge it every night and every day at 2-3pm the battery runs out or reaches 10% and below. [link] [comments]
An I use the cheapest Apple Watch I can find? Posted: 04 Feb 2022 06:40 PM PST Since i have an iPhone XS I don't want to destroy on a handle bar of my bicycle I though an Apple Watch could be handy. I want to be able to control Spotify and get navigation. Are the older series still compatible with those functions and my phone? I don't need offline functionality. I don't need the app on the watch either. I just want the watch as extended controller and monitor for my phone. I know that the app needs a series 3 minimum, but I can't find anything about the series 1 being able to control skipping music. Im not a Watch guy and just want to use it on my bike , so other functions don't bother me. [link] [comments]
Apple Watch Keyboard Keyboard Input Posted: 04 Feb 2022 06:21 PM PST How do i get this to stop popping up on my phone. If im replying on my watch, why would i need to get my phone, then reply on my phone keyboard, so it can send easier on my watch? I got a watch so i dont have to constantly pull my phone out. Please tell me i can turn this off? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Feb 2022 10:45 AM PST I'd been using my Series 6 with iPhone X and the unlock with Apple Watch feature worked like a charm then. I recently upgraded the iPhone and have been seeing issues regarding the unlock with AW feature. What used to be pretty consistent is now super inconsistent and a good bunch of times my phone prompts me to move the watch closer; even then sometimes it works, sometimes not. Like the watch is on the wrist that I'm holding the phone with, how much closer do you want me to get!? IIRC, I first started experiencing this issue after the update that was rolled out a back in January, I guess, before the most recent update. Anyone else facing this issue? Thoughts?
