iPhone There is 1 thing i really respect about iPhones, and that is its design. The fact that you can see a phone 100 feet ahead and recognise it as an iPhone is something Apple deserves a lot of respect for.

The design im talking about is the similar one in the car industry mostly. You can look at a car and without a single badge on it see its a BMW, Audi, Potsche etc.....

Bmw has its signature grill, Porsche's 3 lines that are on every car and so on and so forth, every car company has some thing, a few lines and curves that distinguishes it from every single other car.

(I have to add that im a car guy and i know these few lines and curves that most people dont, i do agree that most todays cars look similar but without exception every car company has these few small things)

And when it comes to iPhones, if i told you to draw me an iPhone, not a single specific phone, not a 13, X, 6, 5, 4, or the first one, just an iPhone that is every single iPhone and not a specific on at the same time, what would you draw?

Looking from the front it would either have a notch, or big forehead and chin with a button in the middle of the said chin. BUT, looking from the back, the camera WILL be in the upper left corner with the flashlight to the right of it (the exception would be 2g, 3g, 3gs, these phones didnt have a flashlight, Xr, 11 and 12, 11 and 12 pro models do have a flashlight to the right of the upper camera). And not a single iPhone goes against this rule, the camera isnt in the middle, lower, to the right or anything!

Other phone companies just dont follow the design language that their predecessors established. Samsung did this with their flagship phones untill the S8 then it just shat itself.

I see so many great designs on phones one year but then the manufacturer just drops it the next!

Unpopular opinion- rounded iPhones were more comfortable to hold than the new boxy ones, especially with all that size

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 08:42 AM PST

I bought my first iPhone in 2017, it was iPhone SE (1st generation) and now I have iPhone 12. So I never got to use the rounded design that sported in iPhones 6-11. But now when I hold the old iPhones like the 11, they seem to be more comfortable in hand. They fall in to my hand in a much nicer and natural way while the 12 feels more like pricking in my palm. What does the community think?

App Store search takes too long? Here’s a walkaround:

    Posted: 20 Jan 2022 01:10 AM PST

Try to search for the specific app you want in Spotlight (swipe down on home screen) and it should load much faster.

I noticed that at least on older devices since upgrading to ios 15 which i kind of regret, but i've been using this method since

How many of you use strictly iOS built in apps?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 01:52 AM PST

Just curious as someone who owns an iPhone but uses Chrome, Spotify and Google drive etc.

I have a PC so these apps naturally fit my ecosystem needs, but I wanna know what you guys do!

    iPhone Longevity

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 02:32 PM PST

I would like to know what iPhones are still up and running strong... iPhone 7 here! ...5 or 6 years later...I've been trying to wait until the 14 comes out. 7, 14, 21, and so on... That's my plan anyway.

The 13 however does look pretty tempting to me! (The marketing strategies these days are crazy)

Let's talk about how long iPhones will truly last, and how a longer lasting device would most certainly be better for the environment! In my opinion, the longer you can hang on to a device the better!

Please comment with your iPhone model, thoughts and opinions below! 👇🏻

The Apple News app is really nice.

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 10:07 AM PST

I recently got a three month trial for Apple news, and sort of scoffed at the idea, because there's so much free news around. That being said I gave it a try. They may have a paying user after my trial. I found that I really enjoy the stories and it's abilities to select other stories I like it's pretty good. As a blind user I really enjoy the fact that the interface is fairly clear and when using my screen reader there is not a lot of junk in their stories like that you see on other websites. To be fair I don't subscribe to those websites so their interfaces may be clear too.

Finally I'll just say the fact that they have an audio tab is also nice. I found myself enjoying the Apple news today morning briefing that's sort of like NPR. It's pretty quick and a nice news rundown for the day. not to mention some of the in-depth stories that the magazines do that are read out loud. Overall I think it's a better value than I once had projected for this! Wondering if anyone else is enjoying the Apple News app?

Does anyone here animate their Live Photo wallpaper? And if so, why?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 06:42 AM PST

I just got my iPhone 13 Pro, and it's got a Live Photo wallpaper by default. I held my thumb down and made it move, and then it hit me that I'd probably never bother doing it again (at least on this phone).

I'm just surprised Apple still goes to the trouble of making these; I don't recall ever seeing anyone do it in the wild, and even though it uses a LOT less battery than the continually moving dynamic wallpapers, it seems like a lot of effort (getting to the Lock Screen, holding down a thumb or finger), just for a couple seconds of movement.

Genuinely curious if anyone here does it more often, and if so, why? To show off a new phone? To impress your friends?

    Edit: spelling

    Awful Polishing Cloth

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 01:20 PM PST

So I foolishly bought apples horrid $20 polishing cloth. I saw online that cloth wasn't really better than a normal microfiber cloth but nothing that says it would be worse. So imagine my anger & frustration when I used the $20 cloth on my iPhone SE2 & it actually put more crap on the screen. My normal cloth did a better job. I mean seriously Apple?!?!? Maybe this is just me though.

Is release of new iPhone SE3 even necessary right now ?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 08:43 AM PST

First gen SE was released in 2016, then 2nd generation in 2020. The 4 year gap looks really good considering how iphones last at least for that period of time if maintained well.

I fail to understand why Apple is even bothered with SE3 so early only like 2 years after release of SE2.

Is 5g the main reason? On what scale is 5g deployed by the way. I mean in terms of global scale and the US specially. Here is the map of global coverage of 5G.

Other than 5g, there will be a processor upgrade which would be helpful but does it even matter to an average user?.

I do not see a bigger battery and an ultrawide lens is not possible right ?

This phone series feels special because it comes once in a while, with ofc great features and at affordable budget for many.

So the 4 year release schedule came down to 2, who knows it will come down to releasing of new SE every year !!

iPhones are just better than Samsung phones because they're soooo much smoother and apps are actually optimized

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 04:33 PM PST

I just bought the 13 pro max after having spent a near decade on Samsung phones. As soon as you start interacting with the phone the difference is apparent. Samsung fanboys are in denial here and want to act like the feeling is better on a Samsung but they're objectively full of shit.

Then you go to apps and the experience you get on an iPhone compared to the same app on a Samsung can be striking. You can immediately tell, "Oh, they actually give a shit about the app on the iPhone."

Anyways, It feels good to be back on an iPhone. I missed iMessage and FaceTime. No more, "Hey, can you download google duo?"

I got the MagSafe charger to work as it is supposed to!

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 07:38 AM PST

The main issue with MagSafe is that it heats up and results in wattage drop but I found a fix to it! I put my Phone faced down near the window ceiling, and as the weather is quite cold and windy, the MagSafe didn't heat up! In fact it was quite cold the entire time which resulted in peak charging wattage for most of time! I got my 12 pro to charge from 6 to 87 percent in exactly 90 minutes with a 61W MacBook brick which only peaks at 10-12W. I think I can definitely push it to fill 15 watts with the 20W brick.

Can someone confirm if the iPhone 12 in black has a blue tint when looked at in sunlight?

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 10:57 AM PST

Hey, I noticed that the iPhone 13 in black has a blue tint. Because of that I wanted to to know if the iPhone 12 in black has the same "problem". It really bothers me because I just want a classic jet black iPhone.
