Safari on Monterey is seriously messed up

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 09:50 AM PST

I've been using (or at least trying to use) Safari on my Macbook and iPhone for the last few years. Mainly because syncing history, tabs, passwords, etc. seem to work nicely. It's been an okay experience most of the time.

But for the last couple of weeks, since installing Monterey, Safari has just not been working properly at all. Sites aren't loading, watching videos there's some weird flickering going on at the screen, and it has simply been slow AF. Apple claims Safari is the fastest browser for their hardware. But I ain't seeing any proof these days that it actually is.

Because of this, I tried installing Firefox earlier today. And damn, it feels snappy and smooth - even with my ad-blocking on.

Honestly, this is just not acceptable. Core-features should "just work" - right? But it seems I'm stuck with this buggy, mess that Apple calls a browser.

    Any thoughts?

iOS 15's "Voice Isolation" mic mode might be the missing phone noise cancellation toggle

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 10:37 AM PST

In iOS 15, Apple introduced 3 mic modes that are available in the Control Center only during calls. They are Voice Isolation, Standard and Wide Spectrum.
Maybe iPhone 13 users can chime in and see if the Voice Isolation mode helps make their calls clearer to the receiver and restores the noise cancellation toggle's behavior?
EDIT: Looks like these modes are available only during VOIP calls, not during normal calls. Thanks to the commenters who pointed it out!

    AirPods feature that needs added

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 09:45 AM PST

I've thought of this for a long time but I really wish apple would add a feature for AirPods with transparency mode where you could increase the volume of your surroundings, not just the music. Transparency mode is super cool but I always find myself having to have my music at like a whisper to clearly hear what's going on around me, people talking, etc… I also have a bit of hearing damage from drumming so that doesn't help. Thoughts anyone?

Edit: I didn't mention I mainly use the AirPods Max

Thinking about getting rid of Apple Arcade

    Posted: 19 Jan 2022 09:53 AM PST

My wife and I are about to do a digital subscription service reckoning. I'm thinking about offering up the Apple Arcade subscription as one to get ride of. I have one game from there I've been playing (Clap Handz Golf). Not much else has really grabbed me since Grindstone. Is anyone really else really enjoying the service? I find I'm getting more out of Apple TV + then arcade.
