What to use to maintain one keyboard/mouse across two Macs? Posted: 02 Dec 2021 10:16 AM PST Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any app recommendations for using one keyboard and mouse across multiple Macs. I'm currently using an official Apple keyboard and an MX Master 3 — the mouse is set up to switch between both, but having to press the button on the bottom of the mouse is a little cumbersome. I've seen Synergy so far that looks good, and I'm not against paying the $30, however I'm wondering what other options are out there that people are using currently. Thanks! [link] [comments]
How to bless a user folder in MacOS 12.0.1? Posted: 02 Dec 2021 07:25 AM PST My daughter is at college and her MacBook Pro died. It was almos 6 years old, so we were planning on upgrading over the holiday. Unfortunately, the MacBook is so dead that it won't even go into target disk mode. Bummer but no huge problem. We have Backblaze. So, I've downloaded her backup and copies her user folder into the new MacBook's Users folder. We'll, MacOS 12 won't accept it. What are my options now? Can I bless it? Or am I painstakingly copying everything over to a new account folder? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Dec 2021 07:23 AM PST Current status: 1 tab, 6.22 GB of memory used. My Finder app is clearly sick and I want to help it get healthy! I'm on a M1 Pro Macbook running 12.0.1. No kexts. Rosetta not installed. No Dropbox. I had this same issue on my old Macbook before I got the M1 Pro. I'm praying there's a way to diagnose and fix without doing a clean install. [link] [comments]
Macbook Air m1 MacOS Monterey: escape key randomly stop working Posted: 02 Dec 2021 09:21 AM PST Lastly, I had some issues with the escape key on my MacBook Air M1, the latest macOS. I don't believe it's a hardware issue because a reboot or logging off and signing in back to my profile fixes the issue. [link] [comments]
Screen glitching on 12.0.1 (16“ M1 Pro) Posted: 02 Dec 2021 05:59 AM PST I've noticed an issue on my 16" M1 Pro MacBook Pro where the screen is glitching in the area under the battery and WiFi indicators in the Menu Bar. It happens when switching spaces and it looks like the screen can't move pixels fast enough but I'm leaning towards software issue because the glitch moves along with that area when swiping across spaces. As soon as the focus sets on a window in that space or the desktop itself, the glitch disappears. Sometimes it turns black, sometimes it's just smeering previous screen contents across and sometimes it's just weird flickers. A restart fixes the problem for about 30 minutes and then it comes back. Has anyone else noticed this issue? I talked to the Support already and they're also leaning towards software. I wasn't able to test it in recovery mode but it also happens in Safe Mode. Posted: 02 Dec 2021 11:17 AM PST Why is everyone so obsessed with how memory things are taking? That's a dynamic process, the OS reallocates RAM as needed. You don't need to do anything about it! [link] [comments]
Let's bay 5 Macs license for CleanMyMac X One-Time Purchase Posted: 02 Dec 2021 10:47 AM PST Hello. I propose to organize 5 people (with me) and buy a lifetime license for CleanMyMac X, which generally costs 450 € but after a coupon with a discount "ADWREMB84A8277" becomes 160 €. So everyone will pay only 32 €, which for me is a great deal. If I receive the amounts from 4 people, I will immediately remove the payment link, and if someone overtakes me, I will return the amount back. When you send the money, write your e-mail so that I can send you the activation key. I know it's a matter of trust, but I have no intention of cheating anyone, I just want to take advantage of the offer. Paymant link:https://revolut.me/r/9OXiUDxfpl [link] [comments]

Help - Restoring from Time Machine backup Posted: 02 Dec 2021 10:27 AM PST I recently bought a MacBook Air (2017) after my MacBook Pro (2017) died. I initially chose to do a clean installation instead of restoring from a Time Machine backup, and I used the computer for a few days. I have changed my mind and now want to use a full backup from the Time Machine. If the current OS on the Air is Monterey, but the back up to be restored is from Big Sur, will that be a problem? Thanks for your help! [link] [comments]

Logic files not recognized on Monterey Posted: 02 Dec 2021 07:53 AM PST I tried to upgrade to Monterey yesterday and when I tried to open logic files from my external drive I received an error stating the file type was not supported or recognized. I reverted to Big Sur and everything was fine. Has anyone else run into this problem? [link] [comments]
Streaming services on MacOS are awful Posted: 02 Dec 2021 07:24 AM PST I just bought a MacBook Air m1 and all my streaming services (Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video) have really low quality while playing. Netflix doesn't have a native app and using it in Chrome is simply unwatchable, seems 480p, square of compression everywhere. Safari improves a bit the situation but still poor quality. Disney+ doesn't have a native app too and the stream is so compressed, almost unwatchable, but better than Netflix. Prime Video is the only one with a native app and the situation is better, I wouldn't say is perfect but at least is watchable on an external fullHD monitor. I have a gigabit connection and my other devices (one of these it's a Windows laptop) can play a really good quality videos on the same streaming services. Why is so frustrating watch Netflix on MacOS? [link] [comments]
Mail app freezes every time I come out of sleep mode? Posted: 02 Dec 2021 07:20 AM PST Any know how to fix this issue? When ever I have the mail app open and close my computer for a long time (7-8 hours cause im going to sleep) it crashes mail when I open the computer back up from sleep. None of the mail accounts connect to internet and the computer starts using a ton of battery and gets a little warm. I am using the M1 PRO 14 inch MacBook pro. [link] [comments]
How to get cmd-tab to open blank window switching into app w/ no windows, without HyperSwitch?? Posted: 02 Dec 2021 06:54 AM PST So clicking on a dock icon for an app that has no open windows tends to open up a blank window. But, cmd-tab'ing to a similar (running) app just has it sit there, and leaves it to the user to understand the situation and start up a window on their own. (Wonder if that's because you can make permanent launcher icons on the Dock even if the app isn't running, and in that case you'd definitely want to open up a new window?) I use HyperSwitch almost exclusively to correct this (somewhat glaring, IMO) oversight... but it's always thinking it's expired, but then letting you proceed because there's no update available. Do any other apps patch this behavior? Or is there some kind of setting that says "however i switch to a running app, if there are no windows open for it, open one"? [link] [comments]
