Posted: 02 Dec 2021 10:53 AM PST Every time I try to delete photos or videos they instantly reappear or they'll appear deleted, I close the app and open photos again only to see them there again even after deleting from recently deleted. The same thing happens with messages and phone calls. Every time I try deleting messages it'll reappear as soon as I reopen the app. I've tried connecting my phone to my PC but no matter what cord I use it won't allow me to do more than view the info of my phone on iTunes. I can't store extra photos on my pc or even manually delete stuff there like I used to be able to with my iPhone 8. I just got this phone (the 12 pro max) earlier this year. I have zero space. I'm just trying to clear up some storage but for some reason my phone will not allow me to. What I'm trying to delete isn't even backed up on iCloud either so it shouldn't be that issue. | Posted: 02 Dec 2021 08:41 AM PST I have an iPhone 12 and was using a shitty rope charger to charge it. All of a sudden, I noticed smoke pluming from my charger and I unplugged it immediately and turned off my surge protector. There was a tear in the charger where the smoke was coming from. It's possible that it wasn't solely the fault of the charger because this particular outlet frequently sends out surges hence why I have the surge protector. I don't notice any issue with the phone right now but I can't test if it still charges because I'm at work and that was my only charger on hand. Is my phone safe to use or should I turn it off and contact somewhere for evaluation/repair? [link] [comments] | ||

The backup of the old iphone which is 256GB is 130GB even tho its only 50GB of internal storage and its still saying there is not enough of free space when restoring the new phone from backup. | iPhone 11 stuck endlessly installing iOS 15.1 during initial setup Posted: 02 Dec 2021 09:33 AM PST A few days ago I purchased a restored/refurbished 128gb iPhone 11 from Amazon, for personal use to replace a badly damaged iPhone XR. I do not know what version of iOS it is currently running. I was able to salvage the Sim Card from the old iPhone XR; it did not appear damaged and I swapped it over to the iPhone 11 before turning it on and attempting to set it up as my new primary personal use device. I was able to get through several questions about setting up Siri, Apple Wallet, Location Services and got to a screen that prompted me to install iOS 15.1 (which to my knowledge Apple recently announced it no longer supports?) where the only other option besides beginning the install was "Learn More." After about 2 hours the update had been downloaded but there was now an option that said "Install Now" in blue text with a spinning/loading symbol turning next to it. The Learn More button was still there. Nothing on the screen could be interacted with, and attempting to unlock the phone to even get to this screen was a chore, with me needing to press down far harder on the touchscreen than usual to register a touch on the keys for my passcode. After 2 hours of no progress and nothing being touchable/interactive past the lock screen, I assumed that something had gone wrong and power cycled the device. I went through all of the same setup options as before but the iPhone 11 was insisting that iOS 15.1 needed to be installed and tehre were no other ways to proceed. One hour has now passed and I am at the same point as before, with a barely touch-registering lock screen and an Install Now button, spinning wheel, and Learn More button which all do nothing no matter where on the screen is touched. I currently do not have access to any kind of phone, and the only computer I have to solve this problem with is an Acer Chromebook. How should I proceed? About a month ago my crypto wallet app crashed and corrupted my wallet data, I am now unable to access my wallet. My iPhone backed up the morning before the crash happened via iCloud on my phone. I am wondering if it's possible to access/retrieve the files the phone backed up from the app(Metamask wallet). Online I found multiple backup extractor tools but they can only backup photos and a couple different apps which doesn't include the one I need. The app files have the data I need to recover my wallet but I can't find anyway to retrieve those files from the iCloud backup on my iPhone. Thanks for taking the time to read my message. When I call on Messenger there is no problem at all but when I call via sim card like a normal phone call it's very very quiet and the person I I call can barely hear me ... | iPhone XR vs iPhone XS Max - 3D touch Posted: 02 Dec 2021 08:05 AM PST Just "upgraded" from an iPhone XR to an iPhone XS Max (Black Friday.. carrier made an offer I couldn't refuse.. otherwise I wouldn't have..) I'm experiencing some annoying behaviour, and I'm wondering whether this is normal, or there's something wrong with my phone (this phone was sold as "certified pre-owned", so.. ). Specifically.. I'm finding the 3D touch to be extremely sensitive. Initially, I literally couldn't even use the keyboard to type because it would randomly go into the cursor mode and not actually type the letter I was trying to input. I adjusted the "3D & Haptic Touch" settings to "firm" for "3D touch sensitivity" (default was "medium") and "slow" for "touch duration" (default was "fast").. and that helps some. But I still find that I get unwanted activations when I'm scrolling through a web page with links or in Apple News or Mail. Before the XR, I was using a 6s plus.. and I don't recall ever having this issue. I also notice when scrolling, there seems to be a "dead" area near the bottom of the screen where it won't actually initiate scrolling (ie. slide your finger up.. nothing happens). Again, not behaviour I'm used to seeing with the XR or 6s plus. In case it might be relevant, I'll note that the XS Max is running iOS 15.1 (I didn't want to go to iOS 15.. but I was literally forced to in the setup.. there was no way to get past the screen without applying the update). | Reset network settings isn't removing paired BT devices Posted: 02 Dec 2021 07:37 AM PST Trying to troubleshoot an issue with BT headphones (in general). What's been happening is that when using BT to take calls, after x minutes the person on the other end won't hear my anymore. It's like the mics just shut off. If I switch audio to iPhone, then back to BT, it will work again for X minutes. This happens with my airpods, with my hearing aids, regardless of the paired device. Trying to reset network settings. I'm expecting that all my paired BT devices will disappear after the reset. They don't - or if they do they're right back by the time I type in my password. Does icloud store BT data? Posted: 02 Dec 2021 03:12 AM PST I've recently discovered this issue because I used to have my phone on silent mode ALL the time, but lately I've kept the silent switch OFF. So the problem is, that whenever I have my phone (SE gen 2) in my back pocket, I've noticed that it switches to vibrate only mode. Whenever someone calls me, the ringer isn't heard, however as I begin to pull my phone out, the ringer is then audible at full blast. The same goes for alarms too. Yesterday i was eating at a cafe and I felt this vibration in my back pocket. As i pulled it out, then did the alarm tone become audible. I have a feeling it's tied to the proximity sensor somehow, but after some online research I couldn't really find concrete statements to back my theory, just one other person had the same theory as me. Any others out there that have come across this? Does it only happen on the iPhone 8 body? If anybody's has found the solution to keep the ringer audible at ALL times please let me know. Read description Posted: 02 Dec 2021 01:09 AM PST Help, it already has happened to me a few times already but recently, I was in the showers when my phone dropped on the wet floor so I instantly took it and dried it with a towel. The screen glitched with the apple logo in it so I panicked. As soon as I finished taking a bath, I put the phone in a rice for like 10 minutes and then I took it and I thought it was fixed already bc I was able to use it after. A day after, as I was going to sleep, my phone was kinda low on battery but I decided not to charge it because I was gonna charge my iPad and that's when the bootloop happened again in the morning. It's been 2 days, and I've been trying to hard reset my phone and trying to update it through my laptop which doesn't work because as soon as the process is like halfway thru in iTunes while the phone is in Recovery mode, my phone starts bootlooping again. | Disabling autocorrect on swipe keyboard Posted: 02 Dec 2021 12:32 AM PST I always have autocorrect turned off. I cant stand it and it rarely works for me. But the most annoying thing is when I am typing with one hand utilizing the swipe keyboard functionality. I will finish a word and it will be correct. Then i will finish the next word and it will try to use context to correct the previous word retroactively and it NEVER works. For instance, when I type the word "don't" it will work just fine, then i type out the next word and it will simply remove the apostrophe. I have no idea why it does this but sometimes it will change words entirely to that which are totally unrelated. To add to the struggle, I'll tap on the word to change it back and the correct word isn't even listed, which makes me delete the entire word and retype it manually while only using my left thumb. I hate third party keyboards so I would prefer to continue to use apples keyboard, so if there is a possible workaround, I'd like to know about it.
