When your watch is put in theater mode, I wish the phone is also so the alarms don’t make noise!

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 02:11 PM PST

    That would be nice 👍

I don't know how to quiet the phone in theater. So is manually turning all the alarms off? Then remember turning them back on when out of theater?

Just sync theater mode with the watch is much better.

Moved to Apple Watch. Well done Apple.

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 03:14 AM PST

I was a long time Samsung phone user from iPhone 4 time to now and used a galaxy watch along side it. I made the swap to an iPhone 12 and Apple Watch SE. I came into this with my eyes open and knew that the Watch would have significantly less battery life according to apples own admission (up to 18 hours as opposed to getting 72-96 hours on my galaxy watch) but the extra features would make up for it (I hoped). Well almost one month in and I am surprised to say that I am getting about 42 hours relatively liberal usage out the Watch. I would say that being that I have owned a smart watch for a while, I do not obsessively try to do everything on the Watch like perhaps a new user might temporarily.. but I do not also have all settings lowered and any features disabled to maximise battery life.

Safe to say that I was happy enough with the thought of getting 1 day out of the thing since the Watch has so many more functions and features, but to get twice that or more, has been great. The galaxy watch was always stylish looking imo, but limited as a smart watch. Whereas this Apple Watch to me feels like a proper smart watch.

Great job Apple, you have done great to be honest. 👍 TLDR : Apple Watch battery life a lot better than I expected, nice one Apple.

Can we talk about the whole messages not syncing dilemma…

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 12:03 PM PST

I LOVE my Apple Watch, and recently got one for my wife for Christmas, but the whole read messages from iPhone not syncing to "as read" on watch has me dumbfounded.

I've searched and searched online and in this sub, and the only answer it seems I can find is "it doesn't work and never has" but I speak with others with an apple watch often and they say they never experience this problem, what gives?

Does everyone else experience this annoying user experience where some messages (most likely SMS only - not iMessages) don't sync to the watch? We have to manually scroll through the watch messages and hunt down the unread messages and tap them one by one to clear?

Since getting my wife a watch for Christmas her excitement has quickly turned into a part nuisance or chore since she finds herself having to manually clear messages from her watch and she keeps telling me she must be doing something wrong, but this is just how it's designed? Many of her family and friends use androids and send SMS texts, is that really the culprit of all this? I also remember with my series 1 and 2 back in the day, I never experienced this.

I've tried everything, turn off both devices and turn on, reset sync from watch app, make sure iCloud messages are turned on, I've just about tried everything.

I find it hard to believe Apple would have designed it this way since it's such an awful user experience and how easy I assume it should be to simply have an option to fully keep the messages in sync across iPhone and watch. Apple is so OCD about UE, why would they do this?

Rant over. Any help is appreciated if this is actually fixable.

    My review: Primria leather strap

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 07:11 PM PST

I was on the hunt for a leather strap for my new AW 7 (first timer) and I loved the look of the Bandwerk Stockholm band but couldn't justify the price. I searched around and found Primria leather. Actually, I stumbled across /u/primria on this sub and he answered some questions for me. I had seen his etsy shop but hadn't connected the dots. Then i took a peek at his website https://strap.primria.com

i chatted with /u/primria via DM and asked if he could do what i wanted. We went back and forth on leather color, stitch type and colour, clasp materials, etc. I had a request to have black connectors to match the Midnight AW and stainless clasp to complement the leather (my personal choice) and he agreed. The strap is double-sided leather, which i appreciated since i was looking for a slightly chunky and solid piece. He offered to paint or burnish the side of the strap and i opted for a light burnish.

For $56 USD (sale price) i was willing to give it a shot. I'm glad i did.

When it arrived i was a little disappointed to find the leather was really orange in color and very stiff/dry. Other than the vibrant color i was pleased. i reached out via email and Herman was happy to offer some suggestions about using mink oil to darken it a bit. i applied a couple coats of neatsfoot oil to hydrate the leather and darken it a bit and it definitely toned down the brightness and gave it a richer tone and really softened it up. I finally put a thin coat of mink oil (about a week between treatments) for waterproofing.

I'm very happy with the result. The neatsfoot definitely did darken things up a bit but it also brought out a few dark spot imperfections in the leather. What can i really say though, its a natural product.

The turn around time was relatively quick (to Canada from Asia), communication was excellent, customization was exactly what i wanted, and the price is right. Time will tell on longevity but i have no reason to believe it wont hold up well. I just wanted to share my experience with anyone who might be looking and give a little shout out to u/primria for his great service and great product.

Do not disturb mode on Watch only?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 09:12 PM PST

I'm looking for a way to enable the dnd mode only on the watch. Every time I turn it on, my iPhone also goes into dnd mode. When I go to settings, I can only deactivate the „mirror iPhone" feature for airplane mode and focus mode. when I Google, it suggests that I can do the same with dnd mode, but that option doesn't exist in my settings tabs ?

    Picto Watch face

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 08:16 PM PST

Hi! New watch owner here, series 7. I'd love to have something like the Picto Watch as a watch face. I had a Rosendahl Picto and absolutely loved it. If someone is interested into minimalist faces and can design it, I bet it would make a lot of minimalists happy! I'd even pay for such Watch face !😎

Adding steps per day to a Watch face.

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 03:52 PM PST

Short question. I got my very first Apple Watch today (7 45mm).

I can't manage to add my steps (per day) on a face. I cannot select "health" as 1 of the sources for a complication. Any idea how to do that or do I have to install a separate app for this? Thank you!

    Series 7 Charging SLOW

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 08:41 AM PST

I've had a Series 7 for about a month, and it is definitely not fast charging. I'm using the charging puck that came with it along with a 20w charger, but it charges much slower than my Series 6 did and even slower than my SE that I still use for workouts charges. Is this a widespread problem, or am I unique here? It's a bummer, because the fast charging is one of the main reasons I upgraded from the S6.

Update: The watch and iPhone are both fully up to date with the latest OS.

Update 2: "Optimize charging" was turned on, even though I have turned it OFF multiple times. It keeps turning itself back on for some reason, which is kinda infuriating. I'll keep an eye on it the next few days and see if that solves it. Thanks!

Bands to go with PRODUCT RED watch?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 10:01 PM PST

Have myself a AW6 product red and want to try some new bands with it (need more conservative colors than the default red band), what are some recommendations for color?

I have a faded/creamy white colored solo loop that looks a bit like the starlight color on apple's website that a friend gave, but thought it looked out of place with my red watch. A pure white might be better, but I wouldn't know without seeing it.

Thought about getting a Milanese in addition to a normal loop, would black be the better color in your experiences?

    Thanks for any replies

    Apple Watch notifications pausing airpods??

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 05:46 PM PST

Hey everyone. Today I noticed that my Apple Watch SE would receive a notification and as soon as I'd raise my hand to read the notification my AirPods Pro would stop playing my podcast and when I'd press on them to continue playing the podcast they wouldn't respond. When I went to press play on my phone it was like my airpods were de-synced and start playing the podcast on my phone instead of my AirPods. Has anyone experienced this before?? Any tips are appreciated 👍🏽👍🏽

Has anyone else noticed burn in on their Apple Watch Series 6?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 05:45 PM PST

When I go to the calendar app or the flashlight app which both have white backgrounds, I can see significant burn in from my watch face complications. Anyone else have issues with this?

Has anyone found a blue jay band for the Series 7 41mm?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 03:12 PM PST

Hello. I'm looking for an Apple Watch Series 7 41mm band that's very similar to the Blue Jay color Apple silicone case for the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Fitness goals and apps for disabled/ elderly

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 12:25 PM PST

Are there any ways to get more function out of workout apps that are more "thank goodness you made it up out of the LazyBoy today" than "ten more minutes and get your heart rate up, you can do it, keep going"? I did read that Apple Fitness is adding features for this but we probably won't sign up for $10 a month when all we need is something like an overview look and reminders to do our balance and weights.

I'm disabled, my mother is getting older and is a stage 4 cancer survivor actively trying to combat sarcopenia and etc. Both of us are rather demoralized by the closing of the rings and are looking for more gentle encouragement and tracking that shows we're keeping up with as much exercise that we are able to do. I have days and weeks where I'm basically confined to bed rest, others where I can do a bit of walking and light weights. We've both fixed our metabolism and weight but would really benefit from more concerted exercise efforts that would be easier with AW tracking.

Buying an Used Apple Series 7 Apple Watch, What to look out for?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 07:45 PM PST

I know I should check the serial # on both the bottom side of actual watch and in settings (have to be the same)

    Pair it with an iphone.

But I just saw a video where the fake Iphone 7 Series Watch's serial # gave all 3 green checkmarks in Apple's Check for Coverage page....So now I'm worried...

Also wanted to ask is it a good way to test the actual apps? In the video the host showed that the fake watches BPM gave him a 60 bpm when he had it test on...air. Will the real watch show an error message or something?

Just want to grab one as a gift for my brother, but now I'm worried. Is the deal too good to be true for $400? Used lightly....

Any help/advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Is it possible to disable sound for the sleep wind-down notification on Apple Watch?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 12:47 PM PST

I don't really want the start of a lullaby to play from my wrist when I'm out later than usual! But don't want to silence all my notifications all the time - any idea if it's possible to mute just this notification? Couldn't find a setting for it under Watch app > Notifications.

    Any help appreciated!

Can the find my app for my Apple Watch be incorrect?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 11:53 AM PST

Recently I went camping at the beach and I took my Apple watch SE(gps), where I was camping had no reception/coverage, I've come back home and can't seem to find my Apple Watch. I used the find my app on my iPhone and it says that my Apple Watch is home so it must have connected to my wifi but I've searched everywhere and cleaned everything and still can't find it. I have a feeling I may have left it camping.it's been 4 days since I've been home so the battery would be flat by now but the find my app keeps showing the last location of my Apple Watch to be at home and for the past 4 days It's pinged the last location as home and has done it for 3 days out of the 4 days. When I leave home with my iPhone and check the find my app Again the last location still says that my watch is home, Is it possible that the find my app is incorrect because if I left it at the beach there is no reception/coverage there? Need help plz because I've literally searched everywhere
