Open Source iOS remote control app for macOS, Windows and Linux

    Posted: 30 Dec 2021 12:11 AM PST

Hi, I was wondering if people would be interested in an Open Source app for iOS remote control. Unless your iOS device is Jailbroken, I believe most of these tools are paid-only.

Let me give you a little bit of background for my idea...

I have been using Airtest IDE https://github.com/AirtestProject/Airtest as device automation tool for Android and iOS for the last little while, basically it lets you write Python code which can do device automation with image recognition etc. It works pretty well on Android Emulators so I used to use it to setup macro farming where the built-in macro/function was lacking as it doesn't support image recognition. However on iOS devices it is extremely slow apparently due to how XCUITest was designed so it literally takes like a minute for any interactions to execute.

When you load up the IDE you have access to the screen of your device and you can actually remotely interact with it like taps and gestures etc. That part is actually fairly smooth on iOS devices however the screen refresh is a bit laggy.

I was thinking whether we could reuse its code to write a remote control app for iOS... Currently most of these apps are paid (Wormhole is one example: https://er.run/) and there aren't any Open Source software for it. I think this could be an interesting niche market for this tool and I was wondering if anybody would be interested in using it and/or working on it with me. AFAIK Airtest is Apache licensed however NetEase staff mentioned that not everything is Open Sourced so we may need to review it to see what's available and what isn't, but I don't think it should be too hard. The software is mostly written in Python and potentially some Java code for cross platform interface.

Please drop me a note if anybody is interested, thanks a lot for reading!

    How is Alien: Isolation?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2021 01:17 PM PST

I've never played this game before. But I got an iPad 9th for Christmas and I'm looking to add a few games to it. I saw how this game was released recently but I'm very curious how it runs and if it is worth the $15 price tag

Just wanted to recommend RayStorm — one of my favorite PSX era shoot-em-ups, absolutely worth the asking price, and it’s on sale! (or it was a couple days ago when I got it)

For me, it's Million Onion Hotel. What's your favorite iOS game that absolutely follows no rules or defies whatever genre it pretends to be in?

    In search for good games

    Posted: 29 Dec 2021 01:42 AM PST

I know we get these posts all the time but i've tried abundance of games from app store and rarely one sticks with me. I'm looking for a game that i can grind for hours while making good progress. I'm not really interested in text games like mervel, acorns or farm rpg. Some idle games i like are Summoner's greed, tycoon type games, city-builder games (tried most from app store, didn't find a really good one) It doesn't have to be idle game, survival, gacha, action or any hidden gem will do honestly It's a big plus if you can play these games long-term Please help, thank you

Trying to find a game I played for a few minutes on my iPhone ages ago

    Posted: 29 Dec 2021 04:35 AM PST

Game started with you playing as a character holding a sword. You started out in the middle of the woods? Where you could walk, run, roll and chop the tall grass that was there. I are supposed to be going to find someone but I don't remember what happened after as it kept freezing after going past a certain point when walking through the tall grass

Edit: just to be clarify I would have done the purchase history but I didn't get it via the official store… it was through 3rd party but it was definitely a game on the iOS! It was just with let's say "power ups"
