Has anyone noticed volume issues in the last few weeks?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 07:04 PM PST

A few weeks ago the volume on my apple tv became way more variable between different apps or even different YouTube videos. Nothing has changed with my setup

Beats flex don’t work with audio sharing

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 06:00 PM PST

Apple TV with 15.2 completely broke audio sharing for beats flex. Anyone else with this issue? You connect them, then share audio. Then it all disappears or it connects then disconnects, then disappears. Maybe I'm just venting but why can't a 2 trillion dollar company put out decent software? Ios 15 has been a cluster and I swear if Tim apple says "and we know you'll love it" about 1 more feature that's going to be broken for the next ten years….how about invest in QA. This all worked just fine before we updated.

Edit. Clean install and reset of Apple TV. I get an error when sharing audio.

    Thanks apple 😆

TV speakers AND airplay speaker(s) not working together

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 07:27 PM PST

TV speakers cut out completely when trying to simultaneously use airplay 2 speakers like HomePod, or Airport Express when using music apps like Pandora or crappy Spotify. Seem to work with video based apps tho. YouTube, Amazon Video, Netflix, Hulu.,,but not with Plex weirdly enough.

I can airplay to ANOTHER Apple TV even but no sound on the ATV doing the playing

Anybody got any info on this? Am I alone? Any way to fix this? Jailbreaking fix possibly?

Is there a way to turn off trailers for other shows that play before a selected show?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 06:31 PM PST

I'm NOT referring to the trailers that auto-play on the home screen; I've already disabled those.

I'm referring to the trailers (ads!) for other shows that play before the show I selected.

Audio stutter on Netflix app since 15.2 update

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 06:53 AM PST

Is anyone else experiencing audio cutting in and out on Netflix since 15.2? I'm using the latest gen AppleTV 4K. I haven't experienced it with any other app.

It'll be fixed when I restart the Apple TV but then it'll happen again after a while. I've restarted the device twice today already.

    Help getting ARC to work?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 01:21 PM PST

I have a Yaber Y21 projector connected to my 2021 AppleTV 4K and I have been trying and failing to get the ARC to work so my Nintendo switch doesn't have to use the crappy projector speakers behind the sofa.

I turn on ARC on the projector, which appears to be associated with the HDMI 2 port. Then I turn on eARC on my applets plugged into that port and a little notice comes up saying an ARC device has been connected (suggesting all's well on the projector). The appletv then goes through the ARC set up process and ends up telling me that ARC is not available. I switch to the Nintendo switch and the projector again says "ARC device connected" but there is no sound. It's silent. If I then switch back to the Apple TV it says "ARC device disconnected" and the setting has been turned off on the projector.

Is there something else I need to do to get it to work? Is it just a poor implementation of the ARC protocol on the projector?

EDIT: the speakers I am trying to use are an OG HomePod stereo pair which are set as the AppleTV default output.

New to ATV. Had a few 'basic' questions

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 05:32 AM PST

I swapped from my Roku. While I generally love the Apple ecosystem, I find the interconnection a bit annoying here. But maybe I just need to configure things properly.

    1. Is there a way to manually bring up the keyboard input on my iPhone. I don't want it prompting me every time the kids are using the thing and I'm working. But I wouldn't mind manually bringing it up as I need it.

    2. Can I disable my iPhone showing what's playing on the ATV the phone lock screen? I don't need to know what's playing or have controls over it.

    3. Do I need to create an Apple ID for my kids to give them a separate profile? They dont need that. Just a "Kids" login.

I think that's my initial drop of questions that I can't seem to find a good answer.

    Thanks all!

Latency - Apple TV vs built-in TV AirPlay 2

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 12:57 PM PST

Hi all, I purchased a Samsung TV last year (can't remember the exact model). It has built-in AirPlay 2 but it bugs quite a lot when watching a movie using screen mirroring. On the other hands the Apple TV in the living room works really well. I was considering purchasing a 4K Apple TV but before doing so I wanted to check if anyone had the same issue with their TV? Would you agree that mirroring should (in theory) work better with the Apple TV?

    Thanks all for your help!

Just want a fast streaming device with NO ADS

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 12:08 PM PST

Hi, I am looking to see some opinions on whether the newest Apple TV might be for me.

I currently use an older Fire TV stick before the remote had any branded buttons on it. It's getting very slow and the home screen is chock full of ads now.

I have to dig for just a simple listing of my apps in the Fire TV and it drives me nuts.

All I want is a streaming device that will work for several years, has no ads on the remote or home screen and has access to all the latest streaming apps with no threat of them being removed (see: Roku and YouTube).

Most of the reviews I read for the newest Apple TV assume you are already familiar with the interface or currently own one.

Also, I do use an iPhone, wife uses iPhone and Apple Watch, and we have an iPad, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

    Thanks

Converted from Roku after a decade or so…very pleased

    Posted: 13 Dec 2021 02:56 PM PST

Just got the Apple TV 4K and couldn't be happier.

Roku software and hardware has been going downhill for the last two years. I finally got angry when my box inexplicably would not give me any type of display. I had been dealing with constant random restarts, freezing, and this isn't a baseline model.

I happened to have also given up on android and got my first iPhone (13 pro max). Always loved my MacBook but never wanted to make the jump to ALL apple (it's an investment, but they function longer). I always knew Apple integrated with other apple products, but the Apple TV box is quite impressive. There are some Android features I miss, but it's worth it for a quality and stable phone.

With Apple TV, The interface is fantastic, the auto play function is better than any I've experienced, and I vastly prefer the mobile remote app to Roku. It's so easy to transfer accounts because the phone has all my passwords in a vault.

From a new convert, I couldn't be happier. I have Roku, Fire Stick, and Chromecast and none of them come close to Apple TV, especially with an iPhone.

Any suggestions on worthwhile functions or apps would be appreciated.

    Elderly parents and AppleTv.

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 12:31 PM PST

My father, in his 80's, is struggling with the cable/appletv remote. His tv provider is Comcast and the options available for minimizing confusing channel jumbles are very limited. He's old so gets frustrated fast. Small buttons, too damn many choices etc.

I've searched for remotes and it looks like the Logitech Harmony is likely the best/only reasonable option in discreet remotes. I was thinking you could use a newer iPad Air and set it up as a remote for the appletv. Place the iPad in a stand that won't move around on him. If I disable autolock the iPad should just stay on negating the necessity of logging on. Has anyone done this?

    Advice is welcome.

I would think someone would invent something to address old-people-remote syndrome. I know I'd buy it at any price.

Adjusting TV volume with iOS Apple TV remote

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 07:48 AM PST

What kind of tv do I need to buy so I can adjust the TV volume with my Apple TV's iOS remote? It doesn't work on a 2015-era Vizio. Wondering what feature I need to look for so I can control the volume with my iPhone remote.

New To Apple TV 4K / Netflix Issue

    Posted: 13 Dec 2021 08:40 PM PST

Just got the latest Gen Apple TV and it's awesome. So much smoother, instantaneous and clean UI compared to Roku, Firestick and that disgusting mess they call webOS 6.0.

My only issue is Netflix missing 3 categories that are super important to me What's New, Coming Soon, Worth The Wait. These categories essentially tell you what's coming to Netflix within 24 hours to months in advance and I can save and schedule a reminder when they're available. Unfortunately I can't find them in the Netflix Apple App. My only work around is to use my LG C1's WebOS Netflix App to see what's going on but I literally don't want to go there, it's embarassing what they've done to WebOS.

Is there any solutions to my problem?

Control “reduce white point” through the control centre

    Posted: 14 Dec 2021 02:25 AM PST

Hi, I know there's an accessibility setting to activate the "reduce white point" - basically triple click of the menu. But I would like to add the reduced white point slider to the control centre.. is that possible? Or can we suggest to Apple.

Reason: basically to control the brightness of my TV. The Apple TV is connected to an AV receiver which is connected to the tv, so all functionalities of the TV is not available through the Apple remote like changing the picture settings of the tv. Thought that this reduce white point (the entire slider to control from 25-100%) from Apple TV would serve perfectly if available through control centre.

Apple TV 4K auto starts after Sleep

    Posted: 13 Dec 2021 05:54 PM PST

Since I bought the Apple TV 4K my unit will reliably turn on after sleep every third day of use. It starts after 2 minutes when enabling Sleep. I wait for the two minutes and then try Sleep again, and it does not turn back on. Notes to Apple support have not helped. I have tried to turn off any apps in the background. I have restarted. Nothing seems to work. Appreciate any ideas.
