My iPhone trade in experience from hell Posted: 10 Nov 2021 05:23 AM PST TLDR at the end I've been buying iPhones and apple products since 2010. My wife and I both have iPhones, macs, AirPods, Apple TV, The works. I have ALWAYS taken my products to apple for support. I Have ALWAYS had apple care for my iPhones. I purchased the iPhone 13 pro max the day it came out. Apple was offering $1000 trade in for my 11 pro max. Pretty good deal. I followed the steps and sent my old phone back in with the provided ship kit. A few weeks later, I get a message from apple saying my iPhone is jailbroken and they will not be giving me any credit. I'm shocked. I've never even attempted jailbreaking an iPhone. I've never took any iPhone into a 3rd party repair shop (why would I? I already pay for apple care). I spent the next 3 weeks calling apple support, I get mixed messages of "let me run it through the system again" and "I don't know why it says it's jailbroken, everything looks normal on my end" and "we've resolved the matter, you'll be getting the $1000 credit". A week later, my old iPhone returns in the mail. Confused again I go through the same phone process in which they tell me they don't know why it's saying jailbroken, but they will send me another ship kit to "try again" This morning, same email. I've been denied credit because the device is jailbroken. To be clear, I purchased that iPhone from apple, only ever took it to apple for support, and only ever used iOS on that device. Any thoughts? TLDR; apple is denying me credit for my old iphone because they claim it's jailbroken, when there's no way it actually is. [link] [comments]

Anyone notice that the the attention awareness feature's "peripheral vision" got wider under iOS 15? Posted: 09 Nov 2021 02:44 PM PST For those who aren't aware, Face ID equipped phones have an attention awareness feature where the display doesn't auto-lock if your face is within range. I used to be able to move my phone off to the side of my desk and have it lock, but it stays engaged at much further distance since upgrading to iOS 15, far past where you'd be able to to authenticate Face ID. I'm on a 12 Pro Max. [link] [comments]
Does the iPhone 13 work with the Series 0 Watch? Posted: 09 Nov 2021 03:04 PM PST I currently have an iPhone 7 with an original Series 0 watch. I'm planning on upgrading to an iPhone 13, but I can't find anything online stating if it will work with my watch. Does anyone have experience with this? [link] [comments]
Iphone could not be restored because firmware file is corrupt Posted: 09 Nov 2021 03:01 PM PST 2 days ago my phone randomly shut off and went into a reboot loop which I was able to get out of for a while before it happened again and then my phone gives the support/restore screen where it shows to plug into a computer. After doing that it says to update or restore I tried to update then it tells me phone cannot be updated and needs to restore, when I try to restore on my windows it starts the process on the phone and the bar under the apple gets to 75% before I get iphone could not be restore error(9). I then tried on my friends mac and got the message "Iphone could not be restored because firmware file is corrupt". When I search this on reddit I find this is happening to jailbreakers but no explanation why and also I did not jailbreak my phone. Wondering what this problem is and how I could fix it on my own as the nearest apple store is 1 hour away. [link] [comments]
