    Just wondering if it would be a noticeable upgrade going from an early 2015 13" MacBook Pro retina to one of the new 2021's? This one has the ports already albeit no usb-c. Kind of silly but i think i would honestly miss not having the lit up apple logo!

    Issues with the M1 MBA Trackpad

    Hello! I realised my M1 MBA trackpad was unresponsive today. Drag from one end to another does not register the tracking properly. I tried restarting and all but to no avail. My current software is also at 11.6 Big Sur. Anyone facing this issue or have a fix?

    Migration from Macbook pro mid 2012 to Macbook M1 Pro 2021

    Hey guys, what's up, I'm going to buy the new 14" macbook m1 pro soon, and I was wondering if I'm going to be able to migrate from a macbook pro mid 2012.

    It's only to transfer all my files and apps faster to the new laptop.

    It would be awesome, if you could comment, maybe you did it with a m1 before or something and it works fine. Thank you!

    Should I Replace the Battery on 2015 Pro or Bite the Bullet?

    I have a 13 inch early 2015 Pro that's in perfect condition and still running smoothly after all these years. It's hit the 750 battery cycle mark and today I got the battery service notification which has made me wonder if it's time for an upgrade. I'm still hesitant, however, because I really love this model: it has USB, HDMI, thunderbolt ports, memory card port and a headphone jack and still runs incredibly smoothly. The only issue is the battery which is beginning to drain alarmingly fast.

    I am tempted by the new 14' model, but it seems like it's just a remake of my 2015 one with a better screen. I am not a graphic designer and do not need to run heavy apps on it which is probably why it's only now beginning to show its age.

    What do you all think? Is it worth investing in a new machine if it'll last me another nearly 7 years? Is a battery service/replacement worth the money at its age? I'm just not sure I want to lose the functionality of the 2015 model.

    macbook air keeps waking up and reconnect to power

    mac wakes itself up from hibernating!

    I have changed the default sleep setting to hibernate after fighting the issue of battery draining while mac is sleep.

    Now, a new issue pops up: unless I close the lid, the mac keeps waking it up (I saw its login progress bar pops up) when it's connected to power.

    Even if I close the lid, it would keep creating the charging sound (the sound that you hear when it's being connected to power) frequently.

    This machine is driving me mad now, seems it frequently gets confused and try to re connect to power and waking up.. Any hints?

    My machine: Macbook air M1. Current OS is 11.3.1 and I am using an app called Al Dente to limit charging,

    Same specs m1 macbook pro or air ? 250$ difference

    Im a graphic design student, and planning to buy an m1 macbook but can't decide which one to get, they are both 16GB ram and 256GB SSD, the air costs 250$ less and im on a tight budget so its a big difference to me, I will use it for graphic design (photoshop, illustrator,indesign ecc) and maybe some light video editing ( i like edits and might get into after effects )

    Should i get the pro or the air ? Will the fan make a difference ?

    MBA M1 Base Model in 2021

    Quick question: is the M1 base model still worth buying now? The alternative would be the base model 14" MBP, however, I wouldn't utilize any of the additional features other than the ports. The main thing I'm thinking about is the RAM.

    My use cases are mainly: * programming in Python (heavy lifting is done by workstations or servers) * editing images (< 30 MP images) * occasional editing of videos (I have no idea what I'm doing there so...) * (if possible (not necessary): playing CSGO (or comparable games) once a month)

    I sometimes think that the 256 GB will bottleneck me earlier than the 8 GB RAM, however, I can simply get an external SSD (which I work with anyway) for each project. I can't upgrade the RAM though.

    MacBook Air 8GB or 16GB RAM?

    I'm sorry if this should be in the mega thread but I'm buying a MacBook Air today, it'll my first ever MacBook and I'm not sure on what RAM to go with.

    I'll mostly be using this laptop for video editing on premiere pro and davinci resolve. I would like to edit both 1080p footage and 4K GoPro footage. Will mostly be editing shorter videos (around 2-5mins) but maybe occasionally edit something longer (around 10-20mins)

    I'll also do some photo editing and some stuff on word for my uni work.

    I can either upgrade the RAM or upgrade the storage to 512GB but I can't afford both. So what do you guys think I should upgrade? Do you think 8GB RAM would be enough for me?

    MacBook Air not showing any images on many websites

    Pretty much what it says in the title. MacBook Air isn't showing a lot of images on websites, and getting constant security pop ups for sites. This happens on safari and Google chrome. Any advice?

    Monterey causing overheating of older MacBooks?

    I have a 2015 Macbook Pro i7 16GB RAM. Since installing MacOS Monterey, my laptop is running much hotter. Usually after booting it up it would immediately idle in the 30-40c range. Now when I boot up, it gets up to 80c, then gradually cools down to about 50c.

    Docking station for M1 with DP 1.2 and power supply

    Hi folks!

    I have an AOC AGON AG271QG 27 inch 165Hz monitor which has a DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4 outputs. It does not have USB-C.

    Currently I have it connected to my desktop PC using DP cable and I can push full 165Hz at 2K no problem.

    I'm now replacing the PC with MBP M1 2020 and would like to find a docking station to accompany it. Ideally I would like to use a single USB-C cable and get:

    - power supply (60+ W)
    - 2K@165Hz video
    - 2+ USB 3.0/3.1/3.2 ports
    - SD/microSD
    - optional: Ethernet, combo audio+mic, HDMI, ...

    Can you recommend a docking station that fits my needs?

    Macbook 13" leather sleeve patina/aging quality?

    Best dock for dual HDMI monitor for the new 2021 m1 max MBP

    Currently I have at my home office dual HDMI monitors that I want to work with the new MBP.

    Which dock do you recommend?

    For now I cross with Caldigit USB-C HDMI dock, but don't sure if it's the best choice.

    What to you guys think?
