| Bug with new 16” MacBook Pro M1 pro/max Posted: 01 Nov 2021 07:46 PM PDT A bug I found and repeated with other Reddit users has shown if you turn your MacBook all the way off and then plug MagSafe in, it will not charge your MacBook. It will work though if the MacBook Pro is on, or if it's plugged in already when your turn your MacBook off. Help get this seen by apple engineers. [link] [comments]  |

I've read some articles saying that the time span in which you have to purchase AppleCare is 60 days, some say 1 year. I'm very confused. Should I just wait 4 months and buy my Mac from Australia itself? (for reference - my MacBook Air 2015 recently had a display issue, the cost of repair is super high so I don't want to invest in repairing it, I'd much rather buy a new laptop). | Posted: 01 Nov 2021 07:40 PM PDT The weirdest thing has happened with my recent MacBook Air purchase and I cannot figure out what is going on. Apple support has no idea either but I have at least narrowed the issue to Time Machine. Here's the sitch: I have a MacBook Air that's only a little over two years old. I wanted the new MacBook Air with the M1 chip and was going to give my dad the other since his computer died. I bought a WD 1 TB passport external hard drive. I formatted it and backed up my Mac. I then boot up my new MacBook Air M1 and setup from my TM backup. I wait forever. It's finished. I log in. I try to open Chrome. It says I need to install a Rosetta. I opened Safari instead and it says I do not have an internet connection. I tried everything under the sun to get the new Mac to connect to the internet (wifi was working on all other devices and it would connect to the signal but no internet passed to my device). I gave up and started from scratch except this time, I don't install from TM and just go through the normal setup. Viola, the MacBook suddenly connected to the internet. From there I go to Migration assistant and try the TM again. After another hour of life wasted, I have the same issue. No internet connection. I am stumped and I have tried googling a million different search perimeters and have yet to come up with anything. Please help me figure out why my TM is doing this. Additional measures I've taken: I deleted the TM. Made sure that the old Mac was up to date and ran TM again. Same results. Also, when I go to the boot menu of the new Mac (hold the power button until it pops up) and click Safari from there, the laptop has internet access. I exit the boot menu and log in- no internet access. This has me completely baffled. [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 01 Nov 2021 04:57 PM PDT hello everyone! i've had Spotify Premium for years and love it and i've been wanting to buy an iPod Classic for a while because i want to limit my phone usage, i just want something simple to play music, that's it. the only thing that's been keeping me from making the purchase is that i don't know how to put all my thousands of songs into the iPod… so my question is: is there a way to sync Spotify playlists/songs onto an iPod Classic? maybe through iTunes? if it doesn't work with Spotify i MIGHT switch to Apple Music but i'd love to keep Spotify if possible. thank you! | Icloud photo back-up inquiries/issues Posted: 01 Nov 2021 06:16 PM PDT Hi all - I am having ridiculous phone issues and I've tried everything, but nothing seems to be fixing the issues whatsoever, so I'm thinking about doing a clean swipe or factory refresh and then restoring from a back-up. I also have an enormous amount of photos in iCloud photos, but I can't seem to find definitive information re: will those photos delete if/when I factory restore my phone? Furthermore, I"m trying to figure out a way to download/export the photos from the icloud library itself, but it is legitimately massive, so I'm anxious to export to my laptop. Is it possible to plug in an external hard-drive and export directly to it? My other issue is that apparently icloud photo downloading is limited to 500 or 999 photos at a. time - my library is just under 90K, so it'd be pretty untenable to sit and go through in such a miniscule interval. I also have a 13g icloud backup from mid-June, so I'm hoping that that'll also contain the bulk of my photos and data, but I'm also convinced this phone is now unusable, so I'm hoping that that back-up file isn't corrupted. | Posted: 01 Nov 2021 06:00 PM PDT So I got the iPhone 13 Pro and since I've gotten it about a month ago I've had extensive issues with the photos app, everytime I try to delete pictures it just shows them back again, I've had photos that I've talken not load because the higher resolution version couldn't load and sometimes when I take pictures it just loads them in a random order, thinking about returning to the apple store since I'm done with this bs but I know this is a software issue, I waited until iOS 15.1 and this is still not fixed, also must mention I've seen talks about how iCloud Photos be related to the problem but the thing is iCloud Photos is turned off so it has nothing to do with it, I'll attach some examples as reference. Ages ago it was command+f. Then it changed to shift+command+F in the past couple versions of macOS. Now shift+command+F starts the damn visualizer. What's the new keyboard shortcut? Posted: 01 Nov 2021 08:51 PM PDT Today I was trying to share my screen with my daughter and watch a movie using HBO max using the new FaceTime screen share option. (Shows as supported app) She was able to see the controls and hear the sound but could not see the video. Tried multiple streaming apps with no luck. (Tried with both apps that she has installed and others she didn't) I tried through Apple TV as well and nothing. The only app she was able to see was YouTube before we gave up. | Trouble with charging and touch screen on my iPhone 12 Pro max Posted: 01 Nov 2021 07:19 PM PDT Ok so I have a year old iPhone, not cracked and didn't touch the water. Last week, as I was getting ready for bed I plug in my phone and I get the water in charging port notification, I thought it was weird so I didn't charge the phone the entire night. The next day and also the following few days it charged just fine. This weekend, I was out of town, time to plug in my iPhone after a long day, it charges to 20% and then somewhere during the night I get the wet port notification. The next day I had a 9hrs road trip alone, phone died, no GPS, it was great. Somehow, I finally get my destination, plug in my phone, it opens up but the touch screen is totally unresponsive, then I get the notification about the charger again. Few hours later it magically stars charging and the screen works again. Today I had a fully functional screen all day and a full battery, then again tonight the same thing happens, phone screen not responding at all and not charging. I restart it 5+ times and the screen decides to start working perfectly again. This is really frustrating, sometime my phone works perfectly but last night I was planning on going to the apple store. Posted: 01 Nov 2021 07:17 PM PDT TL;DR: Does anyone have a TB3 dock that has dual DisplayPort outputs built-in (NO dongles, NO HDMI), and you are successfully driving two 4K 60 Hz displays with your M1 Pro/Max MBP? Longer story: I'm working with Apple tech support to troubleshoot an issue that I'm having with multiple TB3 docks. I have both Wavlink 8K and CableMatters TB3 docks that have built-in DP outputs, and both work perfectly fine on Intel Macs. However, when using dual 4K monitors if I move the TB3 cable from my Intel MBP over to my 14" M1 Pro, the monitor connected to DP2 on BOTH docks does NOT work. I get no video signal to that monitor. If I change the monitor on DP2 to a Dell 1080P monitor, I get video signal on BOTH docks. Given the docks work perfectly with my Intel mac and dual 4K displays, the issue seems very specific to M1 Pro/Max MBPs or a Monterey bug. I'd like to hear from anyone that either has a working dual 4K DP output dock, or users that are having a similar issue to mine. [link] [comments]  |

I have an old memory stick from a relative from like 10 years ago with 5,000 songs I would love to put onto my MacBook. I'm not sure where he got this music from, whether it be from a reliable/safe source or downloaded from like wire or some random 90's download site. Will it give my new MacBook a million viruses if I transfer the music from this external hard drive onto the MacBook? Can I somehow scan the files before dragging onto the MacBook if even needed? It's not too noticeable but every time i play a sound you can hear a faint static in the background. and when the sound ends you can hear a beep. | Use of Storage in iPad Decreasing Posted: 01 Nov 2021 05:41 PM PDT Hello everyone, I have an iPad Pro 11" from around 2019 or 2020. Lately, I've been checking my iPad Storage and the amount of storage being used seems to be decreasing. For example, last week, it said 88GB of 256 GB used. Today, it says 74.6GB of 256 GB used. Do you know what's causing this? The only thing I can think of is that I set my Safari settings to close tabs automatically after one week. Not sure what's going on. Thanks! [link] [comments]  |
