Keeping it plugged after reaching %100 or not? Posted: 06 Nov 2021 02:57 PM PDT When using Macbook M1 at home, I would leave the charger plugged in after reaching %100 when I work continuously. Would that damage battery? I feel like it's safer than charging it and discharging it all time (especially when you use it a lot). Also, would it matter if you unplug the charger before it reaches %100 or plug it when it's not very low (like %70 for example)? [link] [comments]

Macbook Air 13inch early 2014 model says "service battery" Posted: 06 Nov 2021 09:47 PM PDT Hey, y'all. Hoping I can get some help here. So I've taken excellent care of my computer since I got it. It's in basically perfect and pristine condition and looks brand new. It is a MacBook Air 13inch from "the early 2014" models or so I read. Just recently, it started dying much faster than normal. After doing some research, I found out how to check the battery life and it says my battery needs to be serviced. I'm assuming if it isn't serviced in time, it will need to be replaced. Other than the battery, the computer works perfectly. And if it's plugged in, there are no problems whatsoever. I no longer have any warranty on the computer, I'm sure. I'm just trying to figure out the best course of action here. I'm a stay-at-home mom with a toddler and infant and my fiance' is a police officer so we don't have too much money. I've looked online and found so many different answers so I figured this was the best place to ask. Do I take it in to get serviced and what kind of price range am I looking at? Should I replace the battery altogether and again, what kind of price range am I looking at? Or should I just purchase a new MacBook altogether? I'd hate to buy a brand new MacBook considering that the battery is the only issue I have. I just don't want things to start falling apart later on down the road. Normally I'd have no issue with getting a new computer because I loooove a fresh MacBook-- but this one is in such great condition and I'd just hate to purchase a new one if it can be fixed by just servicing or purchasing a battery. But as I said, I don't want issues with it further down the road. Thank you all so much in advance!!! [link] [comments]
Does macbook receive messages after being off for a long duration Posted: 06 Nov 2021 09:11 PM PDT I just recently found my old macbook pro that I used to use iMessages with (not with iMessages in iCloud). The macbook has been off for probably 1-1.5 years. I am worried that if I turn it on it will be spammed with all my messages over the last 1-1.5 years since I just let a family member borrow it for a few days without resetting it. I read on somewhere on Apples website that iMessages are only stored as pending on their server for 30 days until a device receives them. All that being said, would all those iMessages that I have received on my iPhone suddenly bombard the macbook? [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Nov 2021 07:32 PM PDT Anyone know of any SD Cards UHS II that sit flush in the new M1 max MBPs? Used to have JetCard in the olden days that used to sit flush but they are too slow and wanted to see if there are any UHSII ones? [link] [comments]
2016 MacBook not powering on after battery replacement. Posted: 06 Nov 2021 05:53 PM PDT Hello, I just replaced the battery in my girlfriends 2016 MacBook retina with an ifixit battery. For some reason the laptop won't turn on now. There's the white light on the mobo that indicates it's getting power but it won't even turn on with the battery disconnected. I quadruple checked the connections and there isn't anything ripped or torn. Is there something I'm missing? I don't think I shorted out the mobo to my knowledge. I'm lost and spent a nice and slow 4 hours doing this to make sure I did it correct. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
14-Inch MacBook Pro Not Recognizing External SSD [1TB Samsung T5] Posted: 06 Nov 2021 10:41 AM PDT I picked up the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro processor earlier this week, and the computer hasn't been able to recognize my Samsung T5 SSD. When the SSD is plugged in, one of two things will happen: (1) the SSD doesn't mount at all and Disk Utility is unable to either mount or repair it, or (2) the SSD does mount, but none of the files are accessible (and Disk Utility is equally nonfunctional). Similarly, the Samsung desktop application (as updated for Apple Silicon) doesn't recognize the drive. I've also had some issues with a WD Passport HDD connecting, though it seems to be working at the moment (reliability of the connection to be determined). Security Mode is not enabled on the drive and the firmware is fully up to date. My to-be-traded-in 15" Intel MacBook Pro has no trouble accessing the drive both straight from Finder and through the Samsung desktop app. My 11" iPad Pro similarly has no difficulty accessing anything on the drive. Therefore, the problem is seemingly with the new 14" MacBook Pro, which is rather disappointing considering the price. I've found some posts complaining of similar issues on the M1 MacBook Air and the 13" MacBook Pro, but haven't seen anything (yet, at least) reporting issues with the new 14" MBP. Any suggestions? Thanks! [link] [comments]

I have a few questions. Planning to buy a new macbook! Posted: 06 Nov 2021 07:36 PM PDT Hi guys, So I've been a lifelong windows user, however it is now time to get a new laptop. I am planning on getting a new macbook! Preferably I would like to buy one with 16gb ram and either 256 or 512 gb storage. I just have a couple of questions before I make the purchase:
I would really appreciate it if someone could answer these questions and help me out here. I can't wait to join the Mac family!!!! [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Nov 2021 06:51 PM PDT Hi all, I own a MacBook and I am learning how to work on it. I bought it to work with audio and video files. I also have a Yamaha CP4 stage piano, I record my music on it and then plug the USB stick in my MacBook and surprisingly the audio wav file is super quiet. I didn't have this issue on my old computer and find it annoying that I always have to increase the volume manually using some software - and also I have a feeling that this was I am loosing the quality of the sound. Or perhaps instead of USB I need to get a cable and plug my piano directly to my computer? Could anyone help? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Nov 2021 10:11 PM PDT This is driving me crazy, I used to be able to have a different profile pic on my Mac and my Apple ID After updating it syncs both my Mac and Apple ID photo together Is there a way to separate them again [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Nov 2021 03:36 PM PDT Hello guys, I'm new on MacOS, so I didn't understand if it's better for saving battery to close programs with Command+Q, or Command+W (or just pressing the red X on the left top corner). I'm trying to use a Mac "as a Mac" switching from windows without minimize them, but I can't figured out if I need to completely close programs or not. It's like iOS where you prefer to never close them? Mostly I care about autonomy, performance looks absolutely beast anyway. [link] [comments]
Is it just me or are there almost no 14” accessories out right now? Posted: 06 Nov 2021 05:16 PM PDT I'm primarily looking for a matte screen protector and maybe a sleeve but haven't had any luck finding anything other than a poorly rated screen protector on Amazon. I feel like I've never had this issue before. Has anyone had any luck finding anything? I haven't tried any sleeves meant for the 13", would this fit this model too? [link] [comments]
MacBook Air SuperDrive on 2010 MacBook Pro? Posted: 06 Nov 2021 02:56 PM PDT So recently I went to half price books and got a "MacBook Air SuperDrive" I got an error on my mac saying it isnt compatible? I don't have a disc drive installed, as the old one died. Please help if you can! [link] [comments]
LG 43un700-b USB C monitor power delivery not working Posted: 06 Nov 2021 03:04 PM PDT Hi everyone, I bought an LG 43un700-b USB C monitor with 65w power delivery with a Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Cable. I am able to get video and charging at 8W, I tested the cable with my 65w Anker charger shows 65w in the laptop system information. I also tested with another cable and same thing. This is with Macbook air M1. Has anyone experienced something like this before or have any solutions? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Nov 2021 06:21 PM PDT Received the Macbook M1 Air 3 days ago and it had a chip in the screen. First thing I did was call Apple support and they opened a return. They issued for a courier to pick this one up and send a replacement out to me. Today, I've been thinking and I can't risk waiting a while to receive the replacement so I wanna go into my nearest store (40 mins via train) and do the exchange in store. Is this possible? Has anyone ever received a faulty/damaged Macbook and they've had it exchanged it in store? One of my fears is that if I go through with the courier replacement, I'll get a replacement that won't be brand new even though that's what I've paid for. If I'm doing the exchange in person, I can make sure that its brand new if that make sense. Thank you! [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Nov 2021 05:43 PM PDT Currently looking into getting my first MacBook and I'm having trouble deciding which model to purchase. I'm leaning more towards the air but I'm unsure if Apple will be releasing a new Air within the next few months. (I would primarily be using it for writing and the occasional Sims 4 binge) any recommendations would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
Looking for an incompressible 13 inch MacBook air sleeve Posted: 06 Nov 2021 06:59 AM PDT Hi there, Do you know those slim metal wallets (e.g. secrid)? It's an incompressible metal shell that holds cards. I'm looking for something similar to fit a 13-inch MacBook air. Such a case would prevent the MacBook from being compressed in e.g. a tightly fitted backpack. Which (in my experience) causes a keyboard imprint on the screen. It's an oddly specific question and I've been unable to find such a case. Does anyone have recommendations? [link] [comments]
Is it ridiculous to buy a new 14” mbp over the air primarily for MagSafe and the camera? Posted: 06 Nov 2021 10:22 AM PDT I use a 17" Lenovo for work (from home) and this year it slid off the couch and landed on the plugged in charger - a usb-C charger. That port is now shot. (Luckily there's a second port.) I'm now upgrading my personal computer from a 2012 mbp and was set on getting a MacBook Air, but now I realize there are only 2ports, both usb-c and I keep thinking that if I drop it the same way as the work one and mess up one port, that would suuuuuck. I see the new 14" pro has MagSafe back (yay!) and a 1080p camera. I don't need the power of a pro (I type papers, and surf the internet, and conduct sessions with clients on a video platform), and it's double the price (though I've been saving up for a long time), but those two things are huge advantages over the air for me. Would that be ridiculous to get the pro when I don't need that power, just because of the MagSafe (and better camera for zoom and shit)? I just cannot decide if it's worth the cost. Lag when accessing the finder from other applications Posted: 06 Nov 2021 03:15 PM PDT Hello, I'm using Macbook Air 2020 with M1 silicon chip, and has recently updated OS to MontereyOS. After that, the applications stop whenever they access the finder. Like when downloading the file from VScode, or uploading the file on Safari. Anyone having the same issue? [link] [comments]
Do you know how to link an iMac and Macbook Pro together? Posted: 06 Nov 2021 11:23 AM PDT I'm working with a remote company that is sending me a 2019 Macbook Pro, I assume this is so I can sign into their server, or access files securely, or other things like that. I'm going to be doing motion graphics for them, and I have a 2019 iMac that was specifically designed for motion graphics. I want to do my work and anything else on my iMac, only using the MBP as a secondary device when necessary. What are my options in using these two devices together? [link] [comments] |
