| How do I stop my Mail app from randomly popping up on my MacBook? Posted: 06 Nov 2021 08:39 PM PDT MacBook Pro 13 inch 2017: Catalina (but has happened my entire time having this laptop regardless of updates) I never 'quit' my mail app on my laptop Bc I need to see when I get a new email, however one of my accounts randomly goes "offline" for who knows what reason. Every single time this happens when I'm on my laptop (and it happens A LOT) the mail app pops up on the screen and takes me away from whatever I'm working on. Even when I'm watching Netflix full screen, it moves Netflix to half screen and the mail app takes up the other half. If I'm typing, it gets in the way of my document and doesn't let me type. Also if I exit out of the mail screen before that account goes back online, it keeps popping up until it's online again (which typically is only a few seconds but regardless SO f*cking annoying when I'm working). Is there a way for me to go into settings and stop it from popping up every time this happens? Or is there any solution other than 'quitting' the app? [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 06 Nov 2021 06:19 PM PDT my ipad 9th gen and apple pencil 1 is coming next week and it's my first time having one of those. i keep seeing people say 'just buy the ripoff ones, it's not worth it buying the real apple pencil.' i heard that it won't work anymore when left uncharged?? that's scary lol. i paid $99 for that and i don't wanna do some mistake that can break it! plus, the 1 and 2 is different especially on how you charge it. i can only afford the ipad 9th that's why i had to buy the 1st gen and i know i'll be using it everyday for digital drawing. it's so weird that you have to stick the pencil in the ipad charger slot lol [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 06 Nov 2021 07:34 PM PDT Hi, I was just approved for a Customer Replacement Unit (CRU) for an older MacBook Pro (2016) that apparently reached a threshold amount of repairs and was still coming back with problems that they finally decided to generously replace it with a 2020 M1 MBP. I have already bought a newish MBP so I am wondering if I can take this unopened CRU MBP for store credit or exchange at an Apple Store? Has anyone had any experience with this? Also, does anyone know if Apple CRUs come with any kind of Apple Care coverage or if a plan can be purchased for it? Posted: 06 Nov 2021 07:20 PM PDT My base MacBook Pro M1 Pro has been great, but the SD card port has only been working intermittently (works perfectly when I attach a dongle). Since I'm still in the 14 day period, I'd like to do an (I hope) easy exchange. I bought this MacBook on education pricing, and since Apple only allows you to buy one MacBook a year with education pricing, I can't exactly just buy a new one and return my current one without paying full price. If I walked into my local Apple Store and asked for an exchange, would they be able to do that, or do "exchanges" typically fall under "return and repurchase"? [link] [comments]  |

I was charged full price for the new phone and an empty box, with FedEx label, was provided for me to return the phone for credit. So I packaged up the old phone and sent it back. After a couple of weeks I got a phone call from Apple, asking for me to call back. I did and the person at the other end of the line, which was an Apple telephone number, said it was a fraudulent call and to ignore it. This evening, a week after the call I received an e-mail from Apple telling me they received an empty box and I will not receive a credit. What's going on? The box was not empty. This gets very annoying, because all of our devices are connecting to all the AirPods. The bad part is, we can't do separate iClouds because we constantly lose our phones inside our house and we always need to use find my to play the sound. To my knowledge, there is no way to play the sound from a separate iCloud account. does anyone have a solution. it would also be good if we can have all the purchases save between accounts. | Posted: 06 Nov 2021 03:37 AM PDT hi, does anyone else have problems with the 11 pro? i've had my 11 pro for almost two years now, and it's super glitchy. ex: every time i delete a photo it reappears, screenshots won't save, every time i open snapchat it crashes, and it is always out of storage etc. (i have 7 apps and 112 photos. it says system takes up 22gb) i have to manually restart it almost everyday and it's super annoying, any ideas to fix it? Training starts next week, but I'm a full time student. They said they would work with my schedule or at least try but I'm not really seeing that in the training schedule. Have any of you worked for apple as a student and trained while you were actively at school (as opposed to on break)? How flexible/supportive are they with student schedules? | WD My Passport 1 TB External Hard Drive Not Backing Up Posted: 06 Nov 2021 08:28 PM PDT Sorry if I don't explain this well: I have a 2017 MBP running Big Sur with the latest updates- I checked that to be sure. I have been using WD My Passport 1 TB External Hard Drive. But something went wrong and now it isn't recognized, won't mount and apparently can't be fixed. I looked up some directions that told me that it might be due to a corrupted file or file with an error. I tried to follow the directions on this link (they are near the end of the article) to check on the "Console" to find the corrupted files. I did find corrupted files- lots of them, but there is no delete option. Am I even doing the right thing? Could deleting these files cause more problems? Would just reformatting the disk help? (I have another WD that I can reformat. It used to be a Time Machine too until IT stopped working as well. Seems like her iPhone only works with wifi, so iMessage is how we communicate or FaceTime. I keep getting this message though. "Free Msg: Receiver unable to receive message - Message Blocking is active." Does that mean she doesn't have wifi access and my texts won't go through? Normally it works but I keep getting that message. I reset my network settings, and she's not blocked on my phone. Would you get that message if she didn't have wifi access? | Posted: 06 Nov 2021 06:41 PM PDT Hi, a few days ago, when I was editing any kind of documents or PPT (docx or pptx), a strange folder ended with SB is show up on the same directory with the files. I google it and found it's a temporary folder that automatically removed after closing the file. Unfortunately, the folder isn't automatically removed in my Mac. It's still there and even can't be removed. When I tried to delete it, it said, "the operation can't be completed because it is in use." How to deal with this, any kind of support is appreciated. I recently bought the Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds and they sound great. However, I noticed that my head started hurting in very specific areas: behind the eyes and top the head. | Trying to move photos and videos from one Apple ID to another and need suggestions. Posted: 06 Nov 2021 02:14 PM PDT Hi everyone, My relatives recently bought the new iPhone 13 and would like to transfer their photos and videos from their old iPhone into the new one. They used to all share one singular Apple ID so one person's calls, text messages, and notifications would occasionally ring for everyone. So obviously they want their own Apple IDs now. However they also want to copy the photos from the shared Apple ID onto their individual ones. So originally I thought I could do this by going onto iCloud website on the PC, logging into the shared ID, download everything into a local folder then reupload the photos and videos onto their individual IDs. However there were a few problems I ran into. First there is no "select all" feature that's in the iCloud website so I had to drag-select them in batches (there were about 1,000 photos and I could only drag-select around 30 at a time). Secondly when I tried to upload the entire folder's worth of files onto the iCloud (again ~1000), the progress bar at the bottom says it's only uploading 267 which is not the correct amount of files. Thirdly when I tried to upload some files individually, it would say that only JPEG format is supported, even though all these files were originally downloaded from iCloud from the other account; I currently have .mp4s, .HEICs, .MOVs, .PNGs, and .jpgs. After that failed I tried instead to utilize the iCloud Photos network folder I got after downloading and running the executable setup for iCloud for Windows. I tried the same thing of logging into the shared Apple ID, downloading the files to a local folder, switching to the individual's Apple ID, and uploading the files onto that account. When I downloaded the files via "Download photos and videos", they're separated into folders organized by year and would also download a duplicate folder from 2007 to 2021 (i.e. a "2020" folder plus a "2020(1)" folder), both folders were filled with corresponding duplicates between them. I had to manually go into each each folder (skipping the duplicates) and extract the files to one local folder so I could easily congregate them and upload them. However when I click the "Upload photos and videos" button, the entire files explorer window freezes up. I currently have 3 frozen file explorers right now due to two additional attempts. Is there an easy way to do this? Suffice to say, I'm really frustrated with iCloud right now. I'm going to try again tomorrow when they return with their phones. PS if anyone knows how to transfer Notes from one Apple ID to another easily in bulk, they and myself would be interested as well. Thanks! [link] [comments]  |
