    Siri suggestions won’t stop appearing in my widget stacks.

    In several of my widget stacks (iOS 15, iPhone 12 Pro) Siri Suggestions appears and suggests that I add it to the stack. No matter how many times I decline or remove it from the stack, it's back again later asking me the same thing.

    I just want my stacks to be as I built them. How do I get Siri Suggestions to stop trying to get me to add it?

    Apple iOS Mail app functionality

    I am using Gmail on iPhone Apple stock Mail app. Today I needed invoice pdf of my Apple Pencil purchased from Apple store. I searched my mailboxes with "Apple Pencil". I didn't find anything but I was sure that I got invoice mail from Apple when I purchased it. Then I downloaded Gmail App and searched on that with same wordings. Results were there. I found the invoice.

    Curiously, I did the same search in my MacBook sock mail app. There also I found the desired mail.

    So, did I make any mistake in iOS app or functionalities of stock mail app are poor?

    Maps mispronounces “south”

    I'm driving around today for the first time with direction volume turned on, and it's pronouncing "south" as… "saa-gew-tee" or "saajew-tee" or something. It's truly bizarre. Anyone experiencing this but me?

    iPhone 13 Pro - Battery drain caused by Apple Music + Fix

    My battery can only keep up for 8 hours, without using the phone at all.

    Looking at the battery usage, I see "Apple Music" taking +40% battery in background. I am not listening at any music. I only have iTunes Match and "Show Apple Music" is disabled in the settings of Apple-Music.

    I delete yesterday at noon Apple Music, now more than 24h later, I see same battery drain, and I can see that +40% of the battery is lost because of "deleted application" ...

    Decided to create that reddit thread, in case someone could help. Google only talk about great battery life on iPhone 13, so maybe I am alone ?

    Probable working solution:

    I just did a "Setting Reinitialization" to see if that can help. I am trying to avoid configuring the phone as a new phone. It seem solved, will report again in a few days

    2% drain during 10 minute phonecall? new iPhone 11 pro 100% battery health

    I was wondering whether this is normal, 2% every 10 minutes means roughly 8.3 hours of call time for a 100% charge. My iPhone is brand new with 100% battery health. And my signal is 4 bars. I was also using regular earpods. 2% seems excessive. Is it normal?

    What is the shortest path to: Transcribe some speech, send it to an arbitrary server (of my own)?

    I would like to do something very simple with my iPhone:

    1. Say something "to" an app, which then transcribes it and gives me a chance to preview and edit.
    2. After pressing a button, have the text sent to a server:port of my choosing.

    Obviously a simple HTTP "POST" would be easiest, but I can set up a server to deal with anything, so long as it's reasonably uncomplicated (for example, I could just pipe it over ssh...I'm not too worried about the transport details.)

    I could even do something indirect like have my server fetch it from another server that is a compiled-in default, so in theory, something like evernote, _could_ work. This would be suboptimal to me, depending.

    This might be a good r/swift question, but I would like to pull this off with zero programming, preferably. I am a "programmer", but I'm not crazy about learning he whole iOS dev stack just now and I'd be starting near zero.

    It would be great if there was an existing app that did this. That might be a long shot but I would take, say a github example project written in Swift that was "close enough". I can see going to the trouble of DIY in that case. No big deal.

    Any way to stop Photos widget on Home Screen from auto-playing? Or send an individual photo instead of the whole memory?

    Love the photos widget. Helps me remember life. It's a fun way to relive memories daily.

    Since iOS 15, I have two complaints, and I'm wondering if there's a fix.

    Auto-playing of the memory slideshows is rather annoying, especially since audio starts to play. I DO NOT want audio to play. I work in environments where silence is essential, and audio being forced on me by any app is intrusive. It makes me not want to use the widget. If it's not a memory (and just random pics iOS has chosen for me), it's different, of course. This is a Memories issue.

    Also, I love to text pics to friends when they pop up. "Hey, remember this?" Now, I have to send the whole video. It's nice to have that option, but I don't want it to be the ONLY option. Any way to send a single photo from within a Memory?

    I've sent feedback to Apple about it, but thought I'd ask to see if perhaps I'm missing something. Thx in advance!

    Focus turns on when entering location but will not turn off when leaving that location?

    Really can't figure out what's going on with this. I know my current phone is my location indicator in iCloud as I use it to trigger homekit automations.

    Moving a mp3 from iPad file system to music app

    I have an iPad Air 2 and I have just downloaded some music from my Google drive but instead of going to the music app it went into the downloads folder in the file system. This means that I can't repeat the track, which is something that I want to do.

    I don't have access to a PC at the minute so I was wondering if there was a way to transfer the track to the music app without using a computer.

    Is this possible? Thanks.

    Is anyone else having issues where their custom pages in focuses aren’t saving?

    Is it possible to sign in with a certificate in Safari?

    I succesfully installed the certificate as a profile but don't know if I can access it from within Safari.

    Does Safari not support it or maybe am I missing something here?

    Messages and contact sharing/requesting

    I submitted this as a feature request but wanted to post here and see what this sub's thoughts were.

    It would be a great feature to allow the request and sending of both the person you are messaging with and your own contact information (i.e. a contact card which you could limit/select what was in there).

    It would basically be an extension of the "Preferred Name & Photo" feature already in iMessage but with a few tweaks/options.

    This would be particularly helpful in a group message situation where you may not have everyone's number who is in the group. Instead of having to ask people to identify themselves or text someone else in the group to tell you who is who, there could be a "request contact info" button or something that would allow those in the group to send (or not, or limit to specific info) their contact info with the push of a button.

    A couple of notes/ideas in this vein:

    • iOS can see when you're texting with someone you don't have saved (it already does this if someone texts you and says "Hey it's Jamiroquai - what's up?" and it will say "Maybe: Jamiroquai") so implementing a suggested send/request contact info would be simple
    • could also set up to automatically prompt when it's the first time you are texting with a number
    • could even prompt you if someone texted you "Hey can you shoot me your email address?" and it would suggest your email as a response (or have the list of your email addresses, if multiple, and you click which one to send)

    How do you leave specific subreddits on your list while blocking out the entire Reddit site on the iPhone?

    I listed specific subreddits I want to keep open while blocking the entire Reddit site. Yet when I enable the block list and want to go to a specific subreddit I whitelisted, it won't let into that subreddit unless I unlock the entire website.

    Battery drain from camera app. I had accidentally opened the camera from the Lock Screen. The camera was open for a second before I noticed it, and so I turned the screen off. It appears to have remained open in memory for 37 minutes while I didn’t touch my phone and drained my battery.

    Why can we still not sync all messages when using iMessage in iCloud?

    I use iMessage in iCloud for strictly one reason, so messages sync properly between my phone and Mac. However, it is a beyond frustrating experience on the phone where, even though I have ~13gb of messages total, 20gb of free space, yet only 1~2gb of messages will ever stay locally on my phone at any given time.

    This creates an absolutely wonderful user experience where pictures I sent as recent as earlier in a day or the day before are no longer locally stored and I have to tap to download every single time. This also doesn't help when I need to search for a piece of info I know someone texted me ages ago and it doesn't show up on my phone because none of that is locally stored/indexed and no way to force that, always have to use my Mac to search for what I need because everything is synced on there by default.

    So why is it so hard to include an option to sync and store all messages locally if storage space allows? This is how iCloud photos has worked forever, giving you the clear option to either always keeps original photos locally, or opt for only syncing them when necessary to save on local storage.

    This is something I suggest every few months on Apple's feedback site and it just seems like such an oversight that leads to a rather clunky user experience especially with recent videos/pictures never being retained locally.

    15 hour screen time issue. I opened my screen time and noticed a website that I visited for maybe 1 minute was responsible for 15 hours of screen time. This didn’t seem to affect my battery much, but still feels like an issue.

    iOS 15 - Videos playing audio with a black screen

    A few days ago I posted and asked for help regarding this, but didn't get any so I looked it up online and found a fix for a bug that only plays the audio and doesn't show the video.

    Settings > Safari > Advanced > Experimental Features > Turn off "GPU Process: Media"

    This should fix it.
