I would like to prepare for her YouTube playlists in advance. But the sound level varies wildly from one video to the next, that makes it unsafe to put headphones on her head. | NFC Shortcut Automation in Airplane Mode Posted: 28 Aug 2021 12:37 AM PDT Hey folks, Hmmm… I have found very little on the internet about this topic. Does anyone know a workaround? I put my phone in airplane mode when I'm home and use WiFi calling because the mobile service is crap. I just discovered the potentional convenience of NFC tags and setup a couple tags around my house. Well, to my disappointment they don't always work. It took me a couple days to realize the auto-scanning doesn't work in airplane mode, but you can still manually scan tags to setup the automation. I did find that Apple says NFC scanning is disabled in airplane mode. But I can't figure out why considering manual scanning is still allowed. I kept thinking and kept thinking, and I came up with something I really think is cool. The most I can say without spoiling it, is that it is biology themed. As expected, many apps are just way past this version and simply don't support it. Usually requiring at least IOS 10-12+. Thanks! As of now, I think I'll keep it around for note taking, or as a simple bedside web browser. edit: just to clarify, I am not asking to upgrade the IOS, I am aware that this is the last supported version for the 1st gen Ipad mini. Posted: 27 Aug 2021 12:24 PM PDT For whatever reason my monkey hands hold a phone in a certain way that my right thumb hits the keys regular straight on but my left kind of uses the side of the left thumb, so this results in many typos. Finally I found an app called samsung keys cafe that lets me make the left side keys bigger so I can type pretty decent. I googled around and couldn't find much, is there any such app for ios, I'd get an iphone 12 or 13 pro max if there was such an app as I prefer apple devices to android. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Is an iPhone XR still worth buying? Posted: 27 Aug 2021 08:41 AM PDT I've had an iPhone 8 for the last few years. Im still happy with it and I'm not the sort of person who needs the latest and greatest when it comes to devices, so long as their still supported with updates. Recently my iPhones battery has gotten to the point where its just annoying. I wouldn't even use my phone excessively compared to some people, but I find myself having to charge it up during the day which I cant always do. I could get the battery replaced but its probably not worth it at this point as its nearing the end of its supported life. I've been looking at iPhone XR's on a local technology exchange places website and their selling grade A 128GB XR's for £400 locked to my carrier. And they will give me about £120 for my 8. I know some people will recommend just buying a brand new iPhone but I cant be bothered spending that sort of money when i can buy something a few years old that will meet my needs more than adequately. | Spotlight is randomly slow and never shows results Posted: 27 Aug 2021 12:31 PM PDT I'm running iOS 14 on an iPhone 12 Pro. I've had this issue for several versions of iOS, but at this point I am at the end of my rope. Spotlight has become basically useless for me. Sometimes, I'll do a Spotlight search, and results will pop up instantly. But most of the time, these days, it will just pause, and will either show results after 20+ seconds, or never at all. It doesn't seem specific to any kind of result, but I notice it most with app searches since that's what I use the search for the most. Has anyone found a solution to this issue that actually works? I've tried disabling Search & Siri, and I've restored my phone many many times (including once setting up "as new"), and even though resetting the phone occasionally fixes the issue for a time, Spotlight eventually slows down again. It's almost as if the search index is slowly getting corrupted by something, but there's no way to know what it could be. [link] [comments]  |
