| A weird serious of bugs leading my MacBook Air to crash Posted: 03 Jul 2021 04:44 AM PDT So I have this weird behavior of my MacBook Air 2018 when I'm switching from my girlfriends profile to mine: - First Safari won't load the icons of my bookmarks I experienced this behavior first immediately when I updated from Catalina to Big Sur. Unfortunately this issue still comes up with the newest Big Sur version installed. I tried to re-setup my Mac by reinstalling Mac OS and loading an older backup but this only stopped the issue from happening for a while. Anyone got an idea what's the issue here or how to fix it? The only thing I'm really going to be using it for is to read books in Apple Books, and browsing in Safari. Maybe an occasional gaming session, but not too often. This iPad is not currently in use for anything. I already have an iPhone and a computer that I use as my main devices. The reason I plan to use this old device is because I can't get a new iPad at this time (might look into it later). Any help/suggestions/advice is appreciated. Thanks for reading! | Best way to switch from Android to iOS Posted: 03 Jul 2021 12:14 PM PDT for me it is only important to transfer all my pictures and videos. I tried using the "move to iOS" app, but it doesn't get everything right. The pictures and videos end up being mixed up and all the dates are wrong. Also there are no albums, all pictures and videos where in one bunch. Is there a better way of moving everything over like with a computer? | iTunes on my Macbook Pro can't find "decent" content anymore? Posted: 03 Jul 2021 12:06 PM PDT Hello there, I've got a Macbook Pro (retina, 15'', mid-2015), running macOS Sierra (10.12.6). My iTunes version is 12.8.2.3. In recent times (i.e. last few months) I've been having troubles to find any decent/relevant content on the iTunes store. I love listening to audiobooks but when I search for new ones, my iTunes can't seem to find them anymore. In fact, it can't find anything decent. Even if I type the titles of very famous/popular books in the search bar, which surely must exist as audiobooks, there are no good results. What confuses me even more is that the display with the results isn't completely empty. In other words, iTunes doesn't say "no results" or something like that. Instead, I get weird and useless stuff, such as book summaries or audiobooks read by shitty amateurs or, if I type the name of an author, a radio interview with that author instead of any novels written by him/her. Could someone maybe explain to me what's going on and how to solve this problem? I'm a bit of an idiot when it comes to tech stuff, so please try to not phrase it too complicated. Also for further information: it can't be an issue about our internet connection because our internet works fine and, like I said, this iTunes issue has been going on for quite a while now. My wife is experiencing a similar problem on her iPhone, so it doesn't seem to be inherent to my computer. I've read something online about how iTunes has been discontinued... is this correct? And that website said something about how now there are individual apps for everything (music, movies etc.)? But this sounds incredibly annoying and cumbersome to me. Isn't the very beauty of iTunes that you've got all of your media at one place? Does this mean I need to get like 5 different apps, one for my music, one for my audiobooks etc. and depending on what I want to listen to, I need to open an entirely different program? | Posted: 03 Jul 2021 11:48 AM PDT I have an older iPad Pro (I think version 1, the 9.7" screen one). I have automatic updates turned off and usually wait a while before updating my iPad just because I heard it's not always wise to immediately update as soon as they are available. I updated it to iOS 14.6 this morning, and went to open a knitting app I use daily. It has many years worth of knitting patterns and notes stored in it. The app won't open anymore. I have tried to do a little research on reverting my iPad to the previous version just long enough to open this knitting app and save all my data in another location, but I can't seem to find a way to do it. The one method I have read about, by going through itunes, won't work because the only signed version of my iOS is the one I am currently using. I haven't found a third party app or any other way to safely return my iPad back to its previous version. My iPad automatically backs up to iCloud every day, so I have a version from last night that was done before I updated this morning. The only full backup on a PC I have is one that I made as a precaution on iTunes this morning after the update. I made it just before I tried messing around with third party apps, but neither of the 2 I tried worked. Am I out of luck? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can try? I haven't used it in a few years so I am wanting to get rid of but first I would like to unlock it and email any pictures to myself. The problem I have is that I can't remember the password. I tried a few weeks ago entering stuff like my birthday and birth year and got locked out for 10 minutes so just left it. Today I plugged it in to charge again and created a spreadsheet so I knew what codes I'd tried. Unfortunately I have only managed 3 because it has locked me out for an hour. | Posted: 03 Jul 2021 11:19 AM PDT I finally purchased a MacBook in May after years of wanting one due to my love for Mac OS (and due to my Windows laptop starting to bite the dust). It's an M1 MacBook Air running Big Sur. So I was working earlier and my laptop froze for a few seconds and restarted. I thought nothing of it, figuring that it was just a random annoying crash. It went into a boot loop for about a minute and eventually booted and I was about to get back to work. I use my iPad as a second monitor using sidecar. As soon as I activated sidecar my MacBook's screen went pink and rebooted. However this time it never fully rebooted into Mac OS. It would get to the Apple logo, the loading bar would appear and occasionally fill up a bit and it would restart. I've tried several times to get into the startup menu so that I can diagnose the problem and the same thing occurs. I've only gotten into the startup menu once. A few seconds after the menu loaded and I moved the cursor, it froze and the screen went pink again. It then restarted and the screen filled with colorful static that slowly filled the screen before entering the boot loop again (Apple Logo and everything appeared, the static went away). This boot loop has been happening for hours. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I tried turning it off for a while but it's doing the same to if upon turning it back on. | A Nursing Student Looking For The Best Option Posted: 03 Jul 2021 07:21 AM PDT So i'm in kind of a bind. I'm starting nursing school in the fall and need to upgrade my 2019 because I bought the base with only 128 gb and need at least 256gb for my program. So in this dilemma I have two options, someone local who I have a mutual friend with is selling their 2020 Macbook pro with 1tb storage and 16gb ram for $1,200 which is kind of a steal, but at the same time I can get a M1 open box 256gb at best buy for $1,044 pre tax. I'm going to be using this machine for the next 2 1/2 years atleast and need it to be able to run all the different nursing programs, 3d models, and virtual labs i'll be using daily and will need the battery to last. I'll also be hooking it up to my ultra wide at home often to use when i'm studying. What is the better deal for me? I honestly have no clue what is best the people at apple said M1 but I wasn't sure if that's because they're trying to sell it or if it will make that big of a difference.
