| Messages in iCloud not available as iCloud and iMessage accounts don’t match Posted: 05 Jul 2021 05:11 PM PDT I have an iPhone XR logged into my iCloud account. iMessage back up is enabled. I bought an iPhone 12 and logged into the same iCloud account during set up so my messages would load back up on my new phone. After a week I noticed that some, but not all transferred. Im missing thousands of pictures. I tried logging out and logging back in but now I get this error message I mentioned in this title. I triple checked that the account is correct, but I still get the error and my messages won't load back up. I thought about just creating a new back up on my XR and restoring it to the 12, but I don't want to lose all the new phones and messages I've gotten since I got the 12. Any idea how to fix this? I couldn't resist the urge to power it up and everything seems to be in working order. I'm still letting it dry, but I'm a little conflicted with what to do next. There is a crack near the MacBook Pro logo that I was already planning on getting fixed, it's not on the actual screen and hasn't affected the computers usability(I have AppleCare+ till October). Would it be in my best interest to get it looked at now, or wait and see if the keyboard even requires fixing? I understand that regardless there will be an out of pocket charge for getting everything repaired, but I don't wanna pay for something unnecessary. [link] [comments]  |
| Should I Keep Relocated Items? Posted: 05 Jul 2021 10:28 PM PDT I just updated my MacBook Pro to Big Sur 11.4, and afterwards found a new folder called "Relocated Items". I understand that this folder contains items that are no longer compatible with their original location. I must admit I am not super tech-y, and so I'm not sure if the one relocated item is at all necessary or worth keeping. It is listed as "BootKernelExtensions.kc.j152fap.12485C22024026.im4m" This is a new MacBook and I have basically downloaded nothing (apps, etc.) onto it, it is connected to iCloud, but I don't recognize what this would be related to. In short, does anyone know what this file is, what it pertains to, and if it is worth keeping (and what to do with it if necessary). do let me know if any other information is needed :) thanks! Posted: 05 Jul 2021 07:16 PM PDT The shortcut shown in menu bar is still just Command + S, but I need to press Fn to get it to work (for all apps). Why is that? | Apple ID security questions are not the ones I selected Posted: 05 Jul 2021 04:48 PM PDT The 3 security questions I'm asked to answer when trying to edit my Apple ID account are not the same questions that I have written down on the paper I wrote when I created my Apple ID a while ago. When I go to change the security questions on iforgot I get the error saying that there isn't enough information to proceed. Thing is I've never answered the 3 questions I'm asked and the 3 questions and answers I have written down are never asked by the website or when I go to try to change anything in the App Store or settings. | My camera doesn’t work anymore after updating to iOS 14.6 Posted: 05 Jul 2021 10:06 PM PDT The thing is, I updated my iPhone SE 2nd gen like 2 months ago, when the iOS 14.6 came out. And since then my rear camera as well as the flash doesn't work. I don't know what's causing this issue, but what I know is, this for sure is not a hardware problem. I went to the service center, booked an appointment, and got my phone checked, they told me, "This is not a hardware problem, all the sensor and hardwares still seem to be intact, this most probably will be a software problem. THIS MAY OR MAY NOT GET FIXED SOON." I contacted Apple Support after this, and now they're asking me to go to another service centre and then contact them again. I'm just tired at this point. I won't get this phone replaced, neither is the camera issue gonna get fixed. Anyone else got this kinda problems? It's been 2 months without a camera on my phone. :(( [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 05 Jul 2021 09:16 PM PDT I recently had a v-core failure on a 8 year old rMBP I replaced the v-core chip with a new one but unfortunately blew off some very small 0201 sized surface mounted resistors with my hot air soldering station in the process. Instead of trying to replace the .3 x .6mm resistors I considered ordering a working logic board. After a bit of research I found out you can swap the logic board from the same macbook class. A quick search on https://everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup reveals there are 4 macbooks that have the same ID. One of them is a a few months older and has a better processor. I plan on purchasing this but wanted to check here to first see if what I've done is accurate and second to ask, if it is accurate, do I need to reinstall the OS or can I simply reinstall the logic board and boot from my previous install? | Phone never receives verification for iMessage/FaceTime Posted: 05 Jul 2021 09:03 PM PDT Hey guys, So this has been going on for years… It appears my AppleID is unable to get my phone number verified to use it for iMessage/FaceTime, it only lets me use my email. First, I thought it might the the carrier's problem but I get all other verification texts just fine, it's the one for iMessage that does not come. Then, I thought it might be the phone, so I changed phones, still nothing. Only thing I think might be it is that my number might somehow be blocked by Apple on its servers so it won't come through my AppleID. Any ideas what might be happening? Posted: 05 Jul 2021 08:45 PM PDT I purchased a MacBook air m1 in January of this year, it was doing fine until last 2 weeks where i was using it for 3 hours but the battery won't drain it stayed at 100%, the next Day i will use it for 3 hours the battery is still at 100% and won't drain then the next next day it will slowly drain but around 90% it shut off and when i open it it's at 1%. The battery health was normal until last night where it said i need to send it for repair and it won't charge I already set an appointment with my apple store repair next week and hoping it covers the damage with my warranty. For example, I have to buy minecraft on the App Store now, instead of the little I could symbol being there. Can anyone help me? | Apple refused my in app purchase refund request Posted: 05 Jul 2021 08:03 PM PDT Hello, apparently my little niece spent $249 on a game on my iPad last night when we were celebrating July 4th. I understand holiday sales could look intriguing so I didn't tell her parents. I just clicked thru apple's refund website but it told me 'items not eligible for refund' this morning. I mean, is this normal? I personally can just get over with it by educating my niece or discussing with her parents but I just want to know if there any other outcomes with this issue? | Need "support" making an iTunes song my phones ringtone Posted: 05 Jul 2021 03:26 PM PDT I want to preface this with the claim that apple should really start making their processes more simple, but anyway, I want to make an iTunes song my ring tone. I'm using a windows PC and an iPhone 11, and the track I want to use is called "Planet Sakaar." I managed to make it a 29 second clip on my pc, and my import setting is switched to an AAC file, but every time I try to convert the file, it tells me that "'Planet Sakaar' could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats." Does this mean that the file is protected my a copyright law? It was published by Marvels sound crew, and it was a fairly recent title, so is this an issue with my computer or is it a problem with Apple's licensing? Please let me know if there is still a way to convert the file. Also, why can't I have the word "help" in the title? Kind of counterintuitive for an apple help subreddit. [link] [comments]  |

I replaced the power supply thinking that was it and still nothing, meaning its either the power plug or the motherboard itself. Everything is all there inside, it just doesn't work.
