| Infrared Flash On Non-X + iPhone Posted: 05 Jul 2021 09:57 PM PDT I was using an infrared camera to view things, and brought my phone in front of it. I noticed that the front facing camera was flashing light somewhat rapidly. I couldn't see it with my own eyes, so I assumed it was infrared. I came to this subreddit after searching the internet for the same problem, with unclear results. A few others had the same problem, but their problems were settled to be a feature with iPhones that use face recognition to unlock it, such as iPhone X or 11. The problem with this is that I have an iPhone 8 Plus, which doesn't have face recognition with infrared built-in. I wrote this post because I don't know if I should be concerned or why it happens. | Posted: 05 Jul 2021 04:52 PM PDT My iPhone X can usually go a whole day without a charge. I use it in my car for an hour a day on lunch/breaks so the brightness is turned up then because I'm outside. Sometimes outside, like today, it drains almost 50% of my battery in just 30 minutes of use. This doesn't happen often but it happens once in a while, including before I updated to iOS 14.6. Sometime the 4G won't work for a few minutes either when I first use it on lunch. Not sure if the issue is related. I looked at my battery information just now and it said Service and clicking that gave me the "your battery's health is significantly degraded" message. I've never gotten that message before. I've had my phone for three-and-a-half years and the battery was at 92% capacity when I last checked a few weeks ago. It has been at that level for a while. It's at 89% capacity now. I've read people are having battery issues with iOS 14.6. Should I go in to Apple for a repair or is this just an iOS 14.6 issue? [link] [comments]  |

I cannot get itunes to recognize the device when it is on the starting screen for the restore before I put a password in. [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 05 Jul 2021 07:51 PM PDT I have an iPhone SE 2020 and I dropped it into the sink, the screen got all weird and the cameras got blurry, I put it in a sealed container with silica gel and the screen went back to normal, the cameras however are still filled with moisture. Of course maybe sometimes I break this rule because you got to use the phone of course. I also use the apple OEM lightning cable and some anker and belkin products. And I do have a 20 watt car charger for fast charging. Within the span of 20 days. June 15th my phone dropped to 94%. Now today July 5th my phone dropped to 93%. I've had this mini since launch. I'd like to erase everything on my phone before doing so because I don't like the idea of handing it over with everything still on it. My question is will deleting all contents and settings also erase everything I have backed up on iCloud? When I get the new phone I'd like to have everything (contacts/game progress/pictures etc.) from my old phone synced onto the new one. | iPhone not charging after water? Posted: 05 Jul 2021 01:57 PM PDT So last night before I went to bed, I must have gotten some water in the port of the iPhone. I got the message saying there was some water when I tried to charge it so I left it alone to try and air dry it. I also tried using my blow dryer to dry it out too. Still didn't work. I woke up this morning and decided to try the "iphone in rice" trick and i turned it off. I was able to turn it back on and it was charging. However, I just learned that the rice trick is NOT good for drying out a wet iphone and I tried to charge my phone again and it would not charge. Do I need to bring this into the apple store and get it replaced or do I just need to wait for the phone to dry on its own? Is charging it dangerous for the phone? [link] [comments]  |

It is on contract with virgin and I'm due an update in December. Everything was completely fine with the phone until I went to call my mum one day in January after I got the phone and it said unfortunately you don't have enough credit to call this number, but I am on a contract so I do not require credit. I thought this was strange so I called my friends phone who was sitting right next to me. The phone started ringing her as an abroad tone and the call didn't go through to her phone but someone answered speaking a different language. We were really scared and I tried to forget about it. Since then (January 2020) when people ring me my phone rings as an abroad tone and my texts to people change from an area code of +44 to an area code of +32 randomly and the +32 area code is Belgium? | Trouble porting phone number to new iPhone 11 Posted: 05 Jul 2021 04:29 PM PDT Hello, I recently got a new iPhone 11 replacing a 7 and transferred the data from my old phone with the option of keeping them next to each other and transferring over Bluetooth. My new phone has since been working great, but my texts have been going to my old phone. When I text someone from my new phone, they are receiving from my email, not my phone number. Trying to solve my problem, I have now added my number manually to my new phone at the Apple ID in settings, which sent a verification to my old phone and it worked. I turned off iMessage and FaceTime and signed out of iCloud/Apple ID on the old phone. However, on settings on the new phone, my number is blank under "phone," and, though iMessage and FaceTime show my number as an option for send and receive, they have a loading symbol so that I can't check them (it actually warns me that I am about to remove them if I click and were to continue). Small text at these places says waiting for activation, and I now get an error notification sometimes saying the same thing, which leads me to settings where I can't find anything new to do. My carrier is Verizon and appears to be registered on the phone. What do I need to do? Thank you! [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 05 Jul 2021 10:58 AM PDT I've had my iPhone XR for a couple years now and it has been working like a charm. A few days ago I noticed that it was a little difficult to press down the power button, and it felt really "squishy" with no clicking sound/feel. The power button still functions as normal, except sometimes it's hard to press (need to click twice to turn phone off). The odd thing is that when I leave my phone to sit for a while, it becomes "squishy". If I click the button a couple of times (2-5), the clickiness returns to normal and the button is fine. If I set my phone again and wait a few minutes, back to squishy. It occurs with and without a case on. I first figured that something got lodged in there, so I tried to clear any visible dirt. My case blocks most dirt anyways. Not sure what else to do really. There are no Apple retailers near me, except for third-party, and my warranty is well up. Other people I've read that had this issue bought their phone like this and it was a defect. Any help, tips, or personal experience is welcome. [link] [comments]  |

| Forward notifications from iPhone to Android? Posted: 05 Jul 2021 10:20 AM PDT I use an iPhone for my business and an Android for my personal phone, and I'm wondering if there is a way I can be notified when I get a call/text to the iPhone. I don't need the calls themselves forwarded, but I would simply like to know if I received one and if so, from whom. I own my business and the iPhone, so I don't need to worry about permission or anything like that. I just don't think I'll get enough volume to my iPhone to justify carrying it around all the time, but if I do get a call, I would like to know right away. I learned too late about Google Voice, which probably would have done exactly what I needed, but oh well. Are there any settings or apps that would allow me to mirror my iPhone notifications on a non-iOS device? I can find plenty for mirroring Andriod to iPhone but not the other way around.
