Why was iPhone 12 series released almost year ago $729 instead of $699?

    Posted: 21 Jun 2021 11:15 PM PDT

When iPhone 12 was released last year, I remember there was some talk about the fact that the unlocked sim free version was $730 and to get it at $699, you had to get the phone from one of the providers along with a term or some to big like that. I think this relates to USA only. Can anybody elaborate please what happened there? Was this the first time there was a price difference?

    Emergency Alerts

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 08:12 AM PDT

Bit of a discussion over at /r/ChicagoSuburbs about an Emergency Alert that was sent to people about a Tornado Warning.

I tried searching here and couldn't really find a good answer. Is there any rhyme or reason why multiple phones would NOT receive the emergency alert if it's been enabled? It's obviously a bit concerning all things considered, but curious if there is some sort of subreddit consensus on why you wouldn't get it.

My iPhone 12 green tint experience so far

Just as some here in this sub, recently I found out my iPhone 12 has a green tint on the screen. Whenever I watch any video or movie on any streaming service with some black or dark scene, there is a green tint all around the screen. It really annoyed me cause black is supposed to be black on an OLED screen not green.

So I went to Apple store nearby, the guy at Apple ran some tests and I also told him to go to a darker place to see it more clearly, but he could not reproduce the problem, which is understandable, cause the issue only happens in certain circumstances, especially with videos. He explained maybe because the backup from the old iPhone contains something that causes the issue. I don't think that is the reason.

So after a couple of days, today I went back to the store, this time I proved the problem by setting a black wallpaper as a lock screen and turn on bedtime, I even took a photo of it and showed it to the guy at Apple, he admitted the problem and told me to he could get me a screen replacement. I asked if I could exchange the phone, not just the screen, but he refused to do it. So I agreed and after 2 hours I went back to take the phone. After one evening playing all kinds of videos, I'm so glad to see the problem is gone for now. I will update if it happens again. Below are the photos before and after it was replaced.

    Photo Vault App Recommendation

    Posted: 21 Jun 2021 09:23 PM PDT

I have a ton of photos of receipts, bills, and other random documents that are all organized into a file structure on my computer. I was curious if there was a photo-vault style, password-protected app I could use to view them that would allow me to upload the entire file structure rather than having to rebuild it?

    TIA!

    iPhone 12 Pro Max Camera

    Posted: 21 Jun 2021 06:11 PM PDT

    Hey guys,

I am looking into the iPhone 12 Pro Max and was wondering about the camera.

I did read somewhere on this thread that the iPhone 12 Pro Max has problems with close up pictures.

Is this true because of the Hardware or something else.
