Yes! An Apple Watch WILL encourage you to SURPASS your fitness goals!!! Posted: 27 Jun 2021 05:12 PM PDT I want to share my experience of owning a S6 Apple Watch for 3 weeks and how much of an impact this device has had on my mental AND physical health. I was in a rough place a month ago. I was sitting at my desk for hours on end working from home, anxious and stressed about my work and caregiving demands, eating poorly, and pushing away my family and friends. I can attribute some of this negativity to the never-ending lockdown in Ontario and the high stress of living through a pandemic. But nonetheless, I wasn't moving as much as I should and I felt very negative about myself - mentally and physically. For years, I was an avid Fitbit user and found it highly motivating to reach my step goal. I'm relatively active (a walk or two a day + sometimes biking, hiking, skiing and swimming) and I enjoyed the metrics it produced. In the 7+ years I've used Fitbits, I can correlate the months/years when I was highly active, feeling like my best self, and simply enjoying life the fullest to when I consistently used my Fitbit. I enjoyed challenging my friends on the app and feeling accomplished on days when I crushed my goals. However, earlier this month, I knew things had to change for my mental and physical health. I was wearing my Fitbit less and less and was tempted to make the switch to Apple. I saved up, read many threads like this one on Reddit, and finally took the leap. I have not looked back for a second. For three weeks, I've consistently surpassed (often by a LOT) my daily goals of standing for 12 hours, burning 700 calories, and engaging in 45 active minute. I wake up eager to make some progress in closing my rings with a morning workout, which has also had tremendous benefits for my concentration on work tasks. I stand up frequently during meetings or at least to stretch when my watch reminds my every hour. I'm more motivated to engage in "different" physical activities based on the range that I can track on the Apple Watch… Latin dance workout before bed? Sure! Outdoor bike ride on a sunny day? You bet! Lane swimming or aqua fit with my mom? Sign me up! Although the number on my scale hasn't changed drastically, I feel extremely HAPPY, ENERGETIC, CONFIDENT, and like the BEST version of myself. If you've read this far, thanks! I'm happy to provide more of a compare/contrast between Fitbit and Apple Watch since I used Fitbit for many years. But in my humble opinion, an Apple Watch has been nothing other than beneficial for my health and well-being. I'm looking forward to using it in more ways and increasing my goals. Best of luck to you on achieving yours! [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jun 2021 02:26 AM PDT I have now been using the Garmin Venu and Apple Watch concomitantly for months, and while neither device is perfect, there is still room for both to grow, but the Apple Watch has the most room in my opinion. Garmin never set out to make a smartwatch. They want to make a sportswatch, and theirs is pretty much perfect. Apple on the other hand is setting out to make a smartwatch that can double as a sportswatch, but it is so limited for the moment. The one things they need to do imho to increase the AW's ability immensely is creating a web interface similar to Garmin Connect on which you can review all your activities, your metrics, your insights, your challenges, workouts etc... They could easily integrate this within iCloud and add options to export data etc. Looking at charts and data on your watch (and even on your phone) is not handy, nor is it pleasing. Unless I'm completely unaware of this I don't think there's an app or appsuite that allows one to do this? [link] [comments]

Are new faces pushed independently or strictly with WatchOS updates? Posted: 28 Jun 2021 07:38 AM PDT I'm a new Apple Watch owner and haven't been around long enough to see when faces get added. So I was wonder if they are updated on their own or only with WatchOS updates. [link] [comments]
Apple Watch 4 broken after first time relaxing in a pool Posted: 28 Jun 2021 10:33 AM PDT I bought an apple watch 4 (44m) from Best Buy back in January. I take good care of it, use a screen protector, and it does not have any damage or cracks, etc... I was out at the pool this weekend and had my watch on while I was wading/relaxing in a pool for a couple hours. I used the water lock setting and used the expel feature a couple times. Later that evening, my watch was going crazy (phantom screen touches, random scrolling) and then eventually shut off. The watch will not hard reset, turn on, and if you put it on the charger the apple logo blinks and the watch does not turn on or show signs of charging. I plan to take it back to best buy to get a replacement since this watch is defective.. if its water resistant.. it shouldn't brick after being casually in a pool for the first time. That was its first exposure to water. Is there something I should say/not say to ensure I get a replacement. I've heard the policy can be finicky regarding water damage.. even though the device should be water resistant. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Jun 2021 10:13 AM PDT Hiya everyone! I am looking to purchase a s6 watch and am interested in the solo loop. My wrist is 5.25 inches or about 13.34cm. Apple recommends a size 2 band, but I've seen that it can be a little stretchy or loose. Anyone with similar measurements have a solo loop? What size did you go with? Thanks, and apologies if this is inappropriate for this sub!! [link] [comments]
Owners of the Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop, how are yours holding up to dirt/stain? Posted: 28 Jun 2021 10:09 AM PDT Was going to pick one up but the demo units at my local Apple Store seem to be pretty dirty - the white strands of the band have turned black-ish. How are yours holding up? If they do turn dirty, can they be easily cleaned up with soap and water? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jun 2021 09:10 AM PDT I just did an outdoor cycle workout and used strava and apple workout. with the workout app a burned 390 calories, with strava I burned 630. If the difference was like 50 it would be fine but 390 and 630 have a huge difference. Which one should I use? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jun 2021 08:44 AM PDT Any alternative to this? Can I have the timer remain on my watch? [link] [comments]
Apple Watch Series 3 screen plate separation - HELP Posted: 28 Jun 2021 12:33 AM PDT

Posted: 28 Jun 2021 10:07 AM PDT Hi guys!!! I'm a little bit upset about what happened :(( Yesterday, I woke up normally and put on my watch. Didn't notice anything wrong at first, but later, I saw that the screen was tinted green and would randomly light up white and green. As the day went on, the screen tinted blue and white. It was still fully functional, and I could easily see the screen. It was perfectly fine when I went to bed, so I had no idea what happened. Today, however, I woke up and the screen was completely black. It had been fine when I went to bed, and I do know it charged. I cannot see anything on the screen, but I do feel the vibrations from certain clicks. I genuinely don't know what happened, especially since it was completely fine two days ago before I went to bed. I do not sleep with my Watch on, so there's nothing that could have happened during the night. Any ideas as to what is wrong/what I can do to fix it??? I have force restarted it several times. I have the Series 3, and I've only had it for just over a year and a half. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Jun 2021 09:30 AM PDT Hi everyone, Just wondering if there is a way to delay the updating of the activities from the apple watch to the iphone. Basically, I'm in the middle of a competition right now, and I dont want the person that im competing with to know that I've progressed on my points until the end of the day, if that makes sense. I'm thinking if there is a way to disconnect the apple watch temporarily from the phone and wifi, and just reconnect at the end of the day. Let me know your thoughts! [link] [comments]
CeX watch straps are they any good? Posted: 28 Jun 2021 03:26 AM PDT I am looking at buying a CeX sports strap are they any good? For reference I am in Australia and plan to go to one of their shops to buy it instead of online for better quality control. [link] [comments]
AutoSleep Smart Alarm vs AutoWake…. Posted: 28 Jun 2021 07:11 AM PDT What is the point of Autoawake when smart alarm is in AutoSleep. Please inform me. I like the heart monitor and it's on an extra $1 to get the bundle for both but no point wasting money if it doesn't do anything special. [link] [comments]
Trouble connecting Apple Watch to Airpods Posted: 28 Jun 2021 07:00 AM PDT I have either the Apple Watch Series 3 or 4, not sure and I also have cellular so I can go anywhere without my phone. I have tried watching so many Youtube videos on how to pair the watch with the headphones but for some reason it will not work. The second I go out of range from my phone the music stops. I love to run and I am tired of having to bring my phone. TIA. [link] [comments]
Went swimming with my S4, now the crown is broken? Posted: 27 Jun 2021 10:41 PM PDT I have an aluminum S4 that's almost 3 years old now. I don't normally get it wet, never showered with it, and typically haven't gone swimming with it. Yesterday I decided to try tracking a swim and put it in water lock mode. Went swimming for maybe 20 minutes, and now I can't get it out of water lock mode. Yes - I know how I'm supposed to do it. Turning the crown doesn't do anything while it displays the "turn Digital Crown to unlock" message. I'm unable to force shut down because holding both the crown and the side button only brings up the "calling emergency services" screen. This leads me to believe the crown is now broken, despite being waterproof. I have also tried running it under water to clean it, as recommended by Apple and still, it doesn't work. So as of now, my watch it stuck in water lock mode and I have no way to get it out. Anything else I can do besides see if Apple will fix it? It's no longer under warranty, and according to Apple's out of warranty service fee page it will cost $349 to repair? The page says screen replacement "and other service" pricing. Obviously if I have to spent $349 I'm better off getting a new watch 😕 Does anyone have experience with getting the Digital Crown repaired? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Jun 2021 09:07 PM PDT I'm having the same problem; ever since the watchOS 7.4 update my series 5 battery only lasts about 6 hours. Previously it would last all day, and the battery health indicator on the battery preferences screen says it still has 93% of its battery health. It's definitely something wrong with the watchOS 7.4 update. There have been no other changes to my watch between the time that it kept a charge all day and now. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jun 2021 05:45 AM PDT Hi -- This has happened to me 2x so far now where on Monday, I'll get the weekly summary report of the past week and it's been wrong. There will be days shown saying that I didn't close all my rings when I know in fact, that I did. For example, I closed all my rings this past Saturday by around 7pm, but today's weekly summary showed Saturday greyed out (that I hadn't completed). This has happened at least 1x in the past, and I thought that it was just a fluke but seems that it is a thing that happens (albeit infrequently)? Has anyone else experienced this? Know of a fix? [Support] Apple Maps app errors on Watch SE on OS 7.5 Posted: 28 Jun 2021 05:06 AM PDT Hello, Recurring issue with Apple Maps getting stuck on turn by turn direction and never updating. This is a watch SE on latest 7.5 OS paired to 12 Pro on latest OS version. Service is T-Mobile USA if that matters. Specifics are I will queue up driving directions on phone, watch will begin mirrored turn by turn directions on watch maps app. After 10-15 minutes the watch freezes on a specific turn and won't update. Maps app on phone continues to work as normal. Factory reset of watch has failed to fix the issue. Any thoughts on what goes wrong? [link] [comments]
Series4 SS apparent water intrusion after swim and won't boot. Posted: 28 Jun 2021 04:54 AM PDT I have a Series 4 in Stainless Space Black. I did some light swimming/wading in a pool on Saturday, and the watch seems to have been less waterproof than advertised. After about 30 minutes, it started messing up (I'd created a swimming activity), but it acted like both buttons were being randomly pressed. When I got home, I took the band off and put it in a small container with silica gel packets. That doesn't seem to have brought it back. Now, it seems to be stuck in a reboot loop when I try putting it on the charger or pushing buttons: the white Apple logo pops up, and then disappears after 3-5 seconds and then repeats. Is there anything else I should try? I see that Apple will 'fix' an out-of-AppleCare watch of this type for $400, but I'll probably get a refurb instead. [link] [comments]
How do I stop podcasts from downloading while charging? Posted: 28 Jun 2021 12:29 AM PDT I was messing around with the settings in the watch app and apparently the watch downloads episodes from podcasts you've previously listened to. There isn't a toggle, and I want to save as much space as possible. I checked the podcasts app on my phone and it doesn't seem to have any settings. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Handy tip if you’re wearing your watch for sleep tracking Posted: 27 Jun 2021 08:26 PM PDT Wear it the other way around with the screen on the inside of your wrist. For the positions I sleep in, my weight is pressing down onto the band and not the screen this way. I find it much more comfortable. [link] [comments] |
