Posted: 24 Jun 2021 08:25 AM PDT Dear Redditors, I have to say – I'm not an Apple guy. Had some iPhones as a company phone before but it was not my weapon of choice for sure. I'm not that familiar with the whole system yet. But – my son was saving for his first smartwatch and to my surprise instead of deciding on some ugly ones for kids he wanted AW 40mm SE. So after some reading, we thought cellular one will be a better option. He is not allowed to bring a smartphone to school so the best option would be to get him a watch where he can call us in case of emergency. So far so good. The watch arrived, I took my company iPhone SE, started the watch app, and set everything. Except for the modular plan. I got the eSim from Vodafone and my company phone also works with Vodafone. BTW – that might be important – we live in Germany. Had no idea that you have to have two sims for that. I wanted to use Family Setup for this but to my surprise, Vodafone in Germany does not support that function. No way of canceling the contract I signed. I'm grounded for two years now. So I tried my Telekom number in iPhone to set up his modular plan with his Vodafone number. Did not work either. It looks like both father and son have to be in the same network. I find it stupid. OR I just don't understand the idea. Before I sign another contract for something I don't need or I can't use the way I want maybe somebody can help me understand this? · Do both parent and kid numbers have to be in the same network? · Can you set up everything once on the iPhone using the same carrier card, then remove it and still be able to see what is he doing? Will it work? Or family setup is not device-based but carrier-based thing? · Is there anything else I should know about before deciding for a new contract for him for his watch? · The contract I got from Vodafone most likely will be used on his smartphone for data only. 6GB of data should be enough for videos, Whatsapp etc. while we travel for example. The main goal is to have him reachable by the phone everywhere. · If there is anybody from Germany – what would be the best option for us here? I and my wife we both have Telekom contracts. The family setup works only with Telekom here in Germany so he also should get one from them. I ask here because after my last experience with sellers from Vodafone I don't trust anybody. Posted: 24 Jun 2021 08:58 AM PDT Would a series 3 be a smart purchase? I had one before I cracked the screen on it pretty bad. To replace the screen costs just as much basically to just get a new one. It does everything I need it to do I feel like the series 6 does a lot of stuff I honestly just wouldn't use or monitor. I have thought about getting the SE model as it incorporates a lot of things from different models and it's a bit cheaper but as I have stated a series 3 does everything I would need it to do. Im hesitate tho because I don't want apple to turn away from giving it updates or killing the battery on it to basically force you into buying a newer model. I was curious what y'all's thoughts were on the subject and if you could offer any type of advice would be great. Thank y'all and have a great day/night! [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2021 07:49 AM PDT I was gifted an aluminum S6 for Father's Day. Unfortunately, the watch isn't living up to all the hype for me. I'm running the latest software (watchOS 7.5) but continue to run into issues. The first thing I noticed is the "always on display" is not always on. I've tried turning the "AoD" on and off for minutes at a time, coupled with restarts, only to have it work for ~15 minutes before turning off again. The next issue I'm running into is the sleep tracking. The first night I tried sleep tracking all I got was 51 minutes of "time in bed" before it stopped tracking. Last night I tried again and didn't get any amount of sleep tracked. Are these common issues that have to be circumvented with 3rd party apps? [link] [comments]

Battery Drain on Apple Watch Series 4 since WatchOS 7.5 Posted: 24 Jun 2021 06:26 AM PDT Hey, What's the best way to get Apple to look at my watch? I can no longer make it through the day, which only began after the latest Watch OS upgrade. Theres a lot of posts from others with the same issue. I checked Apple's site and it looks like all I can do is ship my watch into them, which I'd prefer to not do without first confirming that's actually needed. I have tried completely resetting and repairing but that didn't make any difference. It looks like a lot of people are in the same boat, so hopefully a patch is coming. [link] [comments]

Posted: 24 Jun 2021 07:43 AM PDT I switch between two braided bands and one solo loop. I wear my solo loop while I work at a hot and dirty steel warehouse all week. When its the weekend I switch to another band and store the solo loop in a box. A couple days later when I go back to the solo loop its always wet/oily. I'm wondering why this is occurring. I'm not able to find an answer on google after five minutes of searching. If you guys have any comments or answers it'll be much appreciated. [link] [comments]
Is it possible to load music onto my sons apple watch? Posted: 24 Jun 2021 07:30 AM PDT He purchased a cellular apple watch. I have apple music free through my verizon account. Is there any way to load music onto it for him without family sharing? My music plan is individual. I don't want to pay for the family if I don't have to since it's included in my plan. Noise level alert while driving with the window down? Posted: 24 Jun 2021 06:50 AM PDT I've been finding out about more and more people with hearing issues, and certainly there is an accumulation of damage as you age, so I tried out the noise level alert on my Apple Watch 6 I'm generally in quiet surroundings since I work from home, but I've seen several alerts for dangerous noise levels. I finally noticed it as it happened … Driving around town (30-40 mph), with my window open and my arm out triggered an alert for 95db. So, can anyone point to anything about whether this is really a dangerous level of noise, or just an artifact of the watch being in the wind stream? Looking at charts online, they compare 95db to a shouting conversation or a subway train, but we were holding a relatively normal conversation at the time. I'm tending to disregard this as a false alert, since were were able to talk and I like having the window down, but should I? I have always put the windows up at highway speeds because the noise is annoying but it never occurred to me that even in town driving could be an issue. What do y'all think? Has anyone read anything specific to this? Should we drive with windows up to protect our hearing , even in town? [link] [comments]

Posted: 24 Jun 2021 04:51 AM PDT So I'm planning to get an Apple Watch SE but I don't know which size and band I should get ( I have a 160mm wrist btw). I was thinking about getting the 40mm one but I don't want the screen to be too small but I feel like the 44mm one will be too big on my wrist. Appreciate any help. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2021 04:38 AM PDT Okay so ive tried to look into this and im either being a complete dipshit (very likely) or its just not clear to me so I figured id ask here. So im planning to join the marines next year and need to get my running times better and my mate is selling a series 3 for a good price so I was thinking of buying it. Its only the GPS one not the cellular. My question is would i still be able to use this to track my running times and listen to spotify/apple music if i were to leave my phone at home while i went out or since its the GPS one will it need the phone to be near it to function at all times? Thanks and sorry if its an obvious Q. [link] [comments]
