So I was handed down a company work IPhone of an ex employee. Now, the problem is ex emp gave the login code but nobody bothered to ask the apple id details. He moved to competitor. Now obviously I'm not comfortable using this phone without seperate apple id, I want to shift phone to another apple ID. Primarily pictures and contacts. (I'm assuming on the same phone and number, apps will remain). I can't even add any app to the phone and don't want ex employee sneaking on my leads or any market visit pictures so he can know what we're 'looking at'. How can it be done just on phone. We are a sales crew and in a remote office, don't have PC/Mac. They just handed me the phone, said everything's on here and basically 'deal with it'. I'm not an iOS user. I dry off and get ready and when I come back to my phone there is a pretty large dark spot on the bottom left side of the screen. Anything I can do? I notice that after 20 minutes or so, my phone started to get hot, like really warm, I thought well maybe it will cool down in just a sec, but it continued to stay like that for another 20 minutes, I was just downloading apps and putting my accounts on them. Is it normal?? My old phone (Samsung J4 2018) almost never went hot like that, so I was really surprised to see a most advanced phone to do so. [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 19 May 2021 02:20 PM PDT Water damage Hey Reddit so on Monday I was swimming in a hot tub and had dropped it in the hot tub. I immediately dried it off and started playing the sonic sounds to push water out. Now the dumb thing I did later that night is charge it. So now fast forward to today I've been having some issues charging it with a cord. I never get a warning but the connection just doesn't hold for very long. I've tried cleaning the port with a floss stick but nothing really works. It's charging currently but I'm afraid it's just gonna stop again. Advice? [link] [comments]  |

I switched from my 2nd Pixel (former HTC advocate) to iPhone 12 mini because of the size and the MagSafe charging. I am also trying to get away from Google as much as possible. And it is the only real option for mobile phones that I can use for business purposes. But I am extremely disappointed so far with the feature set and apparent lack of proper third-party solutions. So I am going to post a list of things I hope you can help with. This is not a complaint post, it's a genuine call for help. Are there solutions to these problems?
I don't want to like this thing... I just don't want to hate it. I want to be impartial. Mainly I need iPhone for work: my company (a military and aerospace supplier) only lets you plug into their server with iPhone or Windows Mobile which yeah, is defunct. Since I work in a department that depends on portable data collection, including photos and video conference calling, this is as much for my bottom line as it is for my peace of mind. | Swapped to iPhone, looking for alternatives to features liked on previous phone Posted: 19 May 2021 11:01 AM PDT I got my wife the 12, after being on android for 4 years. She's disappointed that there were some features she had on her Galaxy that she can't find alternatives for on iOS. Was hoping yall could lend a hand: 1) Clock app that tells you how much time is left until an alarm goes off. She's looking for a clock app would give her a silent notification ~15min prior to the alarm going off, and count down in the drawer or something similar. 2) Easy access to screenshot editor without opening a separate app. The Galaxy has this feature called "edge panel", that has a set of nice tools, one of which was the ability to take a part of a screen shot w/out having to open a whole new app. You just swipe, press the selection tool, and it'll take a copy if your selection. 3) Easy access to view clipboard history. She also really liked that the panel also gave her the ability to see her clipboard history. 4) Haptic feedback on keyboard. From what I could find, the iOS default keyboard doesn't have haptic feedback any longer. I know that the GBoard app is available (which does have haptic) to use on iOS but for some reason it will switch to the iOS default keyboard from time to time. | iPhone 7 Cellular Data not working Posted: 19 May 2021 03:44 PM PDT iOS 14.5.1 update ruined my iPhone? help My iPhone is pretty old, it's an iPhone 7. So anyway, this morning i got a notification that said something along the lines of "you need to update your phone to be able to use cellular data". So I haven't been able to call or text anyone, which I need to do. My wifi works fine on my phone. I tried updating my phone multiple times, each time it kept saying "update failed". I kept turning my phone off and back on then retrying. After like 20 tries, it finally updated. Once my phone turned on after it updated, my cellular data still won't work. It just says "searching". I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've looked through my settings, there's no carrier update or anything. Nothing i've tried will work. Other than cellular data, my phone seems to be working fine, but it's EXTREMELY slow. Any ideas on how to fix this? also, i backed up my data to iCloud because i was going to factory reset it, but i got a warning that i need cellular data to be able to set up my phone after a factory reset. | Posted: 19 May 2021 10:02 AM PDT I've had my iPhone X for around 4ish years with no issues. Except now for the past 5-6 months I've had issues charging it. Any charger I use or buy will only work on my phone for about 4 days, then will just not charge my phone at all. Some chargers will work but will turn off and on from charging my phone and I will have to keep turning it from side to side. I had my battery replaced and my charging port replaced last week but once again I'm having issues with this charger that was working perfectly fine What should I do now? Is this a common issue ? The touch screen is not properly recognizing me touching the screen sometimes. It thinks that I touching one part of the screen when I am actually on another part. In some cases, it wont even recognize me touching the screen. It will open applications even when I didn't want the open. | Ghosting/screen retention after buying used iphone Posted: 19 May 2021 10:52 AM PDT I purchased a second hand iPhone X recently - I know I know… it's a risk, but I simply cannot afford to buy a new iPhone & this time I've noticed two main issues and looking for some advice 1) when I change pages on the Home Screen sometimes the screen takes a second to switch over to the new icons, it's like a burn-in issue I think? 2) When scrolling through pages on my wife's iPhone X the screen feels fluid & just smooth, on this second hand iphonex it stutters a little bit and doesn't feel as fluid as the wife's phone? Is this a sign of faulty screen or hardware issue and is there anything I can do to solve it? Or is a new screen needed ? [link] [comments]  |

| iPhone 12 suddenly draining batter faster Posted: 19 May 2021 06:14 AM PDT 1. iPhone model and iOS version iPhone 12 , iOS 14.5.1 2. Purchase date, country and nature of purchase May 05, 2021 Reading, UK, Personal use 3. What is the issue, how often does it occur and how to replicate it? Today I've noticed that my battery is draining faster that normal, seemingly inexplicably. I've not downloaded any new apps or increased / decreased average usage today. Normally during the workday, I average somewhere in the region of 2% battery drain per hour, using it sparingly for calls and checking WhatsApp etc, sometimes if my usage is a little higher might average 3% per hour. Today the battery indicated 93% at 1000 and at 1345 it was down to 73%, which is significantly lower than I would normally be at this time of day. I haven't had the phone a very long time, but long enough to get used to what the average should be, and not long enough that that should have degraded. Not sure what's happening. Also I've noted that for a time it will stay on a % and then suddenly drop 2-3% within a few minutes. 4. What caused the issue? I'm not entirely sure, but when I go to the battery usage page, interestingly it shows the phone app as using 13% of the battery, when this hasn't been the case for the preceding 9 days, even though I've used the phone a comprable amount, perhaps 10 minutes longer today than normal. The highest use on any other day indicates 3%. But other than this anamolly, I can't seen anything abnormal going on in that page. I'm happy to supply screenshots if it would assist anyone giving advice! 5. What did you try to resolve the issue and what was the result? I've restarted the phone twice, and check the battery page a bunch trying to figure it out, which has probably contributed a small amount to the drain, but cannot account for the amount. 6. I honestly don't remember why/how this happened. What I do know is she currently has whatsapp installed on her phone but it appears this was downloaded using my iTunes account. Since she does not have my iTunes password, she is unable to update to the latest version. We are also in different locations so I cannot physically get her phone to update it. Without divulging my password, is there anyway I can update her Whatsapp? Or the better long term solution would be to remove my iTunes account altogether but would this delete all her history/chat on Whatsapp? [link] [comments]  |
