With Apple Music Hi-Fi, the case for "Audio pass-through" on Apple TV just got a lot stronger Posted: 17 May 2021 08:54 AM PDT Apple TV has had "Match frame rate" and "Match color depth" for video for a long time now, but it has missed equivalent features for audio. With the launch of "Hi-Fi" Apple Music going up to 24-bit, 192KHz, I'd really like to see "Match resolution/frequency" option(s) so that I can output 24/192 to my AV receiver. Apple's press today says "Hi-Res Lossless also requires external equipment, such as a USB digital-to-analog converter (DAC).", so they should update tvOS to support external DACs (in this case my receiver) via HDMI. EDIT: /u/ersan191 correctly pointed out that "pass through" is not exactly what's needed, but anyway, the key thing is that I'd like the Apple TV to be able to output more than 16/48 over HDMI. Posted: 17 May 2021 08:59 PM PDT I have a plethora of issues with HBO max as do a lot of you. But I'm also running into problems with Disney+, Audio and subtitle change languages upon start app. Anyone else? [link] [comments]

Just when I thought YouTube app couldn’t get any worse Posted: 18 May 2021 01:42 AM PDT They updated it, and made it even worse lol everything is black except the videos and most things are now hidden. Wonderful. [link] [comments]

Watching “Trying,” why is bottom couple inches of the screen always out of focus? Posted: 17 May 2021 05:36 PM PDT Really enjoying the show, but keep getting distracted by the bottom couple inches always being out of focus. Is that just an "artistic choice?" Or am I the only one seeing it? [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 May 2021 09:02 PM PDT Any benefits to me upgrading my Apple TV 4K to the new gen before upgrading my tv? I have a LG C8 with Sonos Arc audio. I imagine non-hdmi 2.1 tv capability will be my handicap in this situation If I do end up getting the G1 with hdmi 2.1, will that open me to max utility running Apple TV to TV and outputting eArc [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 May 2021 10:56 AM PDT I have an apple TV 4k in bedroom and livingroom and since the latest update I have been having issues with the sound getting out of sync with the video. This is happening with both units. I have bought router cables and hooked them directly up to the internet router and that has not solved my problem. I've tried several different things to fix the problem with no luck. The videos will play for a while and the sound gets more and more out of sync until the video finally freezes and crashes. Has anyone encountered this before? Does anyone know how I might be able to fix this issue. It is driving me insane. --PS, streaming works fine like on youtube or netflix. It is just when I try to home share something I've downloaded. Thanks guys! [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 May 2021 07:36 PM PDT I've seen some posts of people getting an oops something went wrong message on the app. For me it recently just stops playing and exits the HBO app back to the Home Screen. Then when I go back in I have to try a few times to get the movie or show to play. My software is updated and I did a restart. Any other ideas? Thank you Edit: also whenever I reload the app and start the show again the subtitles are in Spanish. I keep English subtitles on usually but weird it switches [link] [comments]
YouTube not responding to Play/Pause Posted: 17 May 2021 06:38 PM PDT For some reason in the past week or so, I've noticed that the app doesn't respond to the Play button anymore. Sometimes you can swipe up and get the progress bar and it will start working somewhat. Anyone else see this? tvOS 14.5 (18L204) [link] [comments]
FINALLY!! Ireland gets some sort of app integrations. Posted: 17 May 2021 01:20 PM PDT I've only got Disney so far but hoping they do the same for Prime Video and Discovery etc. Any other Irish users seeing this? I've been asking for this for a long time! https://imgur.com/a/id4DzFq/ [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 May 2021 04:34 PM PDT Trying to find out if Apple TV buffers to control for video quality over slower internet connections. I live in a very rural area with one line of internet coming in. I have the fastest internet option, however, it's not always the speed I'm supposed to get. When watching movies sometimes my image will show at a lower resolution and sometimes digitize (and occasionally hang but that's not super frequent and seems to be more weather related). I'm wondering if the Apple box would smooth this out. Broader question is what does Apple TV offers over a smart TV? I'm planning on subscribing to Apple TV+ (That stupid Ted Lasso show got me!) and a year subscription comes free with an Apple TV purchase - so is it worth $130 ($180 - $50 yearly subscription)? I don't have an iPhone (don't even have a cell phone), nor a home pod house, so I'm not concerned with how it integrates with those (I do have an iPad and Mac though so if there's something interesting about how it works with those.... ) So does it buffer? Is it worth $130 if you have a smart TV or should I just buy a new fishing rod? Thanks [link] [comments]

Color Calibration shows how uneven the makeup on actors is? Posted: 17 May 2021 10:23 AM PDT Is anyone else noticing with the calibration, it really shows off actors makeup? I am especially seeing yellowish tint around mouth and eyes. Just curious. I might uncalibrate and use TV settings to calibrate how I used to have it. [link] [comments]
Confused with the new high audio from apple regarding Apple TV! Posted: 17 May 2021 09:58 AM PDT Does this mean the audio in movies will be even better? Do I need atmos equipment to hear the benefit or will my Sonos 5.1 system sound even better note I have the beam and not the arc so no atmos yet. Is the atmos sound very impressive?
