| Posted: 21 May 2021 04:25 AM PDT Is there a quality drop or anything when AirPlaying Youtube to AppleTV from iPhone or Mac? Because that seems to me like a very valid use: me messing around on my phone, searching for good videos to watch, having a fully fledged keyboard, accurate touch or mouse selection, etc,... And then commit to watching one through AirPlay and that AirPlayed video does not use the AppleTV YT software but the standard AppleTV interface thus allowing (for example) for using the wheel on he new remote. Am I missing something? (except the fact that I do get that one would be perfectly legit to want to use the remote all the way apart from that, is there a really drawback to my way)? I just wanted to know what advantage does it have that a smart TV (with HomeKit, AirPlay and Apple TV app support) doesn't have? My main points would be having the HomePod as audio outlet and Apple Music. On the other hand Apple Fitness+ is not even supported where I live and LG smart TV can do almost everything. Posted: 20 May 2021 05:25 PM PDT My 43" TCL Roku 4K TV (43S435) can playback YouTube videos like this clip from Gemini Man, in full 4K 60fps HDR10 according to the app's "Stats for nerds." My understanding is that the 2017 Apple TV 4K can play 4K 60fps HDR10 (just not Dolby Vision 60fps) content but, unfortunately, the YouTube app on the Apple TV 4K (2017) can't playback any HDR content. Is there another Apple TV app that has 4K 60fps HDR10 content to test if it's true? Or am I wrong about that? [link] [comments]  | ||
