    I left my iPhone 11 Pro in a cab last Wednesday night at about 11:30 PM. I had Find My iPhone enabled when I lost my phone and for literally the entire time I owned and was in possession of the device (just under 2 years). I purchased theft and lost protection when I bought the phone, and the coverage is good until 10/11/2021. Now here's where everything goes terribly wrong. Within 30 minutes of me losing my phone (and before I realized it was lost) whomever found it managed to figure out (??) my passcode (which was not a series of 0s or a set of sequential numbers, tyvm) and get into my device. All I can think is I left enough smudges on the glass after a masked-up evening out that they were able to decipher it. Once in, at 11:56 PM they changed my Apple ID password, and at 11:57 PM they turned off Find My iPhone. At 5:30 in the morning, they opened an apple credit card and changed my billing information. I know the timing of all of this because I found the emails noting the changes they made in my apple mail trash once I was able to regain control of my Apple ID. The changes they made logged me out all of my other trusted devices, and prevented me tracking my phone, placing the phone in lost mode, or erasing it. The changes also required me to purchase a new phone before I could actually re-take control of my apple ID because although I was still in possession of my recovery key, I couldn't use it without a trusted device and the apple chat support I was using while phoneless could do nothing to assist. What additional havoc the finder of my iPhone caused while they were in control of my apple id is a harrowing story for another time. To get to the point -- over the course of endless support calls with apple advisors who didn't really believe it was possible for anyone to do what they did with the security measures I had in place, I was advised to remove the lost phone from my apple account (due to the fact that my apple id was compromised). Now, since my lost Apple 11 Pro has been removed from the list of my devices on my apple ID I am unable to even start a claim on my theft and loss protection. I have spoken to many, many AppleCare support advisors at this point who have basically told me that because of what the person who has my phone was able to do (change my Apple password/turn off Find my iPhone) and what I did to secure myself afterwards (remove the 11 Pro from my apple account) there is no way for me to even begin to make a claim even though the policy is still active and I didn't turn off Find my iPhone myself. I have the emails showing the changes made while they were in control of my device, the most recent backup of my iPhone 11 Pro (from the day before it was lost) would show that Find My iPhone was active, I have a number of friends and family members who could testify to the fact that they can literally ALWAYS see where I am via Find My, the lost phone itself still shows as covered on checkcoverage.apple.com. I even have a screen grab from when I was trying to activate lost mode from my iPad and getting an error. I've talked to many very nice and understanding support technicians at AppleCare, some nice ones who sympathized to an extent while clearly still believing I was nuts, and one certifiable jerk (I'm looking at you Alex). NONE of the above could help me file a claim. The only thing they can do is give me a partial refund on my worthless $300 AppleCare coverage -- all of $62 if I chose to accept. So reddit, any ideas, spells or incantations to offer that I might try next? Honestly getting this phone covered is really the least of my concerns with what this person managed to do while in control of my Apple ID, but I also feel it is extremely unfair that I will not be covered on a policy I paid for due the skill of the mastermind who happened upon my iPhone. I crave justice!!

    Is Apple Maps as good as Waze at avoiding traffic jams?

    I have a road trip coming up, and I've always been impressed with Waze in the past for saving me a lot of stress when it comes to getting stuck in traffic.

    I like the interface of Apple Maps a lot more though, and if I'm going to be looking at it for 9 hours, the interface matters. Is Apple Maps good about traffic warnings?

    iMovie formatting issue

    Hey there, I'm having trouble editing a video in iMovie. I filmed a short tutorial for a school project on my front facing camera on my iPhone and now iMovie has cropped the video into a square. Unfortunately, I only have an iPad to edit the video and it seems like it doesn't provide me with all of the selections in iMovie that a desktop or laptop would. Is there any way to fix this, short of redoing this whole thing over again? Thanks so much!!

    I fear my Mac is permanently stuck in Windows. Any assistance would be appreciated!

    So I made an oopsie. The other day I decided to install Windows 10 through Boot Camp on my early 2015 MacBook Pro.

    Shortly after the installation, the screen went black and began flashing a folder with a question mark on the screen. Not knowing what to do, I restarted it, and it had the same result. After a few more restarts, it prompts me with a windows installation, in which I complete it successfully. Now the problem is, is that I have no way of switching back to Mac. In addition to that, I'm missing my disk drive, which means I can't even reinstall MacOS. I've tried doing Internet Recovery, I have no Time Machine Backups, nothing.

    When I look in my disk manager in windows, it says I have 198 GB of unallocated space. Am I out of luck here and am going to have to buy another Mac?

    I'd appreciate any assistance guys!

    are the 2019MBP displays compatible on 2020MBP?

    hi, as said on the title. my friend has a 2020MBP with a cracked lcd and i have a fully functional 2019MBP. i was thinking of buying their faulty 2020MBP then have the screen swapped afterwards. does anyone here knows whether itll work? or has this been done before?

    iPad Pro 2nd Gen Replacment LCD dies within a year

    I broke my first iPad Pro and got a replacement through apple. Worked great until today I take it off charging and as I'm reading the charging percentage. Like a wave from bottom of the screen to top it slowly turns black. The backlight still functions, it wasn't under any pressure unless a pillow counts, and had never been subjected to abuse or neglect. I got it last August and within a year it doesn't work. I really don't want to pay 500+ dollars again to fix it as there is no damage that could have caused this through my fault. I'm taking it to repair on Friday to apple and am wondering if they will honor a free replacement if any.

    iPhone 11 Pro replaced 4 times - what qualifies it for a CRU?

    My iPhone 11 Pro died a couple of times on me, in total five times, including today! I've got it replaced as an Apple Care Express replacement so far, but I'm sick and tired of this. Today I spoke with a senior advisor but dodged several times when asking for a CRU.

    He referred to going straight to a physical Apple Store to get my phone replaced. Is there any way to get my 11 Pro replaced for a brand new phone, meaning a CRU (Consumer Replacement Unit) in an Apple Store or should I call them up again?

    What is your experience?

    Why does my bluetooth not work? I'm using a Macbook Air(I don't know what model) running macOS Catalina.

    A CRAZY problem. Every day, i back up 2/5 GBs to my backup drive. Within hours I have NO space left on my Macbook. Almost zero! There are NO new files, NO hidden files, NO files of any kind. Almost impossible to track down. Output of netstat -a | grep -i "listen", show one weird file. THANKS!

    This is one perplexing issue, turned off ALL syncing. iCloud, Google Sync, Dropbox, EVERYTHING. Yet within a few hours my Macbook fills up again.

    Yet, there is ZERO trace of a new file. Very bizarre. Using the netstat -a | grep -i "listen" command, i see a strange file at the end of the list. I was thinking is someone using my box to MINE? Yet no programs are active.

    Any help appreciated, before I reformat the Powerbook.

    When I have my AirPods plugged in, they work great, they charge and the light comes up and it works how it's supposed to. However, once I remove the case from the charger the light turns off and there is no charging that happens. I don't get any response that I even have an AirPods case, meaning that the little menu thing at the bottom doesn't pop up when I open the top, unless I have the case plugged in. I have tried resetting the case and that still hasn't helped. Any help is very appreciated! Also: first generation airpods, never have had an issue with them, about 2 years old

    I accidentally clicked an add for porn. Then a message popped up saying "Your iPhone has been infected with 8 viruses and iOS is damaged 74 percent" then it tried to get me to download an app with a two minute countdown. I clicked the link for the app and it looked shady. 150 reviews and strange names tied to them that appeared very fake. I attempted to download it but I didn't completely authorize the purchase. Is my phone in danger?

    iPod connects to computer but iTunes doesn't recognise it at all

    Hello everyone,

    So I recently plugged my iPod into my computer to sync up my new podcasts to listen to on my way to/from work and found that when I plugged it in, everything that normally happens happened except the iPod is not appearing in iTunes at all. When I plugged the device in, I got the pop-up of my iPod and my AVG virus protection thingy recognised that I had plugged in my iPod to the D: drive but inside of the actual iTunes there is nothing at all. On the actual iPod it even says it's connected and to *Eject before disconnecting* I wish I could do, iPod, I wish I could do!

    So what's going on? Is there some sort of update I need to do for my iTunes or am I going to have to reinstall everything again and fix it like that? Is there just something dumb I am missing and is an easy fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I've got my iPhone X repaired after my pixels died without any cracks. After about 2 months of use the black spot is appearing in the same spot. Is this unusual and should I just get a new phone or repair it?

    Hey! So I'm new here and another sub directed me here about questions regarding support, and I have a huge problem in regards to my xR.

    So before anytime I'd set up an account the OS would always ask me if I wanted an auto generated strong password. This made life easy and secure. I stopped using faceID as I prefer the 4 digit pin. The enormous problem I have is the OS will not ask me or help me auto generate a strong password.

    Because of all the data breaches, and my inability to figure out a solution my man made passwords all became comprised, and it's been absolute hell it's taken a major affect on my life negatively as I have over 80 security breaches.

    Is there anyone that has a solution to where I can get my phone to go back to auto generating strong PW's each and every time without having to use faceID? If anyone could help me it would honestly mean the world, as I can't figure it out, and everything from my social to business account has been affected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Mid-2014 MacBook Pro running slow after water damage/battery replacement

    I spilled hot tea on it and it shut off and wouldn't turn back on (yes, I know trying to turn it back on was a mistake in retrospect but I was panicking.)

    I had a local shop do a liquid damage repair process. They said the (original) battery needed to be replaced so they replaced it with a NinjaBatt.

    It's been running super slow ever since (this was about 6 months ago). I even wiped the SSD and did a clean install.

    I did upgrade to Big Sur, but it was just as slow on Yosemite.

    I reset NVRAM and SMC but that didn't help.

    Nothing abnormal in Activity Monitor.

    Coconut Battery says the battery is fine.

    Intel Power Gadget processor readings look normal.

    To clarify, it runs slow whether on battery OR connected to power. Makes no difference.

    I've read that using a non-OEM battery can cause MacBooks to throttle, but I don't know if that's what's happening here.

    Any ideas?

    Imessage location jumping very confused

    Does anyone have this problem too, when j check my friends location I see their location jump in a sec from a place two miles away back to the accurate location. The places it jumps from are always the same locations.
