Apple fixing broken iPhone screen = 50/50 chance of data loss? Posted: 14 Apr 2021 09:29 AM PDT A friend of mine broke his iPhone screen and had it replaced by Apple. They said there was a 50/50 chance the repair would cause him to lose his data. Sure enough, when they returned the phone to him, it had been wiped. Apple didn't just "fix" the phone by replacing it with a refurb. The phone they gave back to him had all the same identifying scuff marks, etc. So we all know that a phone screen is separate from the flash memory chips that contain the data on the phone, so what about the repair process could possibly cause data loss?? Just curious. Thanks for any insight. [link] [comments] | ||
