Apple TV 4K "Not Responding" in Home since TVOS 14.4? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 06:44 AM PST Has anyone else found that their Apple TV 4K is continuously shown as "not responding" in Home since the TVOS 14.4 update? The TV menus for HomeKit show it is connected to the Home, and changes in the Home app (for example, changing its name) are reflected straight away on the Apple TV device, and the "hubs and bridges" panel shows it on standby as normal (HomePod usually has hub duties). Network connection is by ethernet and there's no issue with that. But for some reason... Not Responding. All day long. [Edit] oh okay so while in standby it just disappeared from the list of hubs in Home literally while I was looking 🤷🏼♂️ [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2021 03:43 PM PST Hey! I'm wanting to create/download a program on my Apple TV that can turn on my TV through HDMI-CEC at a specific time in the morning and turn off at a certain time as well, and display similar information that would be seen on a smart mirror (example). Does anyone know of an app or how I could create one for this idea? Any thoughts are appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Audio Sharing for Apple TV 4th Gen (1080p) Posted: 01 Feb 2021 08:59 PM PST I know that audio sharing with AirPods require Bluetooth 5.0 which the 4th Gen doesn't have. But is there any workaround or alternative for it? [link] [comments] |

Hulu not outputting 5.1 audio on Apple TV 4k ? Posted: 01 Feb 2021 07:33 PM PST I've noticed that whenever i use Hulu, it only seems to output to stereo. Netflix does 5.1, Amazon Prime does 5.1, Apple TV plus 5.1, but for some strange reason Hulu only seems to output stereo. I have a workaround and that is use the Hulu app on my LG CX TV, but i'm just curious to see if anyone else has noticed this, or if there's a reason behind it ? I don't think i've missed a setting. There's nothing obvious in the app settings. Actually the only setting in the app is autoplay. The Apple TV 4k is setup correctly as i'm getting Dolby Vision and Atmos, and everything else apart from Hulu is 5.1. [link] [comments] |
Auto play no longer working after 14.4 update. Posted: 01 Feb 2021 06:58 PM PST After updating to 14.4, auto play next no longer works for purchased shows or AppleTV+ shows. The Up Next widget shows up. The count down ring does as it should, but when it reaches the end it goes back to AppleTV Home Screen, unless you click the play next episode button. Before I reinstall, anyone else running into this? [link] [comments] |
Issue with Morphite on AppleTV 4 HD Posted: 01 Feb 2021 06:43 PM PST Just got an AppleTV 4 last week and finally am getting around to trying some games. Was excited to see Morphite available in my purchased games... but it seems virtually unplayable. Default graphics settings was too choppy to play. Turned everything off and lowered the draw distance, it's doing ok now. The issue is the controls. Seems to be input lag with my PS4 controller. When I let go of the right stick while looking around, it keeps going for like another half to a full second, which makes it impossible to aim at stuff. Other games that are way more graphic intensive work just fine, has anyone experienced this? Anything I can do? [link] [comments] |
Why no Nintendo pro controller support? Posted: 01 Feb 2021 11:31 AM PST I just saw that iOS 14.5 will add support for the latest PlayStation & Xbox controllers. This is really good for them and I'm glad but, I was trying to find out why the Nintendo switch's pro controller hasn't been supported. Is there a technical reason for this, which would mean it will never be supported? Or is it possible that one day it would be (this is my hope. I am patient and a super casual console gamer so I don't really mind waiting). [link] [comments] |
Setting up used Apple TV w/o a Remote Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:46 AM PST Previous owner left an Apple TV (2nd gen, model A1378). I do NOT have an Apple Remote for it. I hooked it up to my display but obviously can't control it. I opened the Remote app on my iPhone (via the Control Center) and it finds the TV (named Backyard Apple TV, I'm assuming named by previous owner) but I can't do anything. My iPhone won't connect to it to control it. I think I need to just reset the thing but don't know how. Any advice? Do I just need to buy a remote for it? [link] [comments] |
New Netgear CM600 router has caused my home sharing to break. Theories? Details enclosed. Posted: 01 Feb 2021 10:17 AM PST Had to replace my router and now cannot access my library from Apple TV. Screen sharing and Air Play seem to work fine. I'm guessing this may be due to my library server having an IP address that looks like 96.xxx.xxx.xxx (same subnet as the router) and the Apple TV having an IP address 192.168.xxx.xxx. But not sure how to fix this. Router connects to the same switch as the library server (let's call it Switch A) . The Apple TV is also hard wired via ethernet but connects on a different floor and through another switch (switch B). Switch B is wired directly to Switch A via a long cable run. Thoughts? Edit: Solved. Thanks u/numtini for helping out. I realized that I have a Google WIFI pod sitting close to my cable modem and acting as a router, and I suspected that the WIFI Pod was using DHCP to assign an IP address to the Apple TV box. Luckily those PODs have an extra RJ-11 port on the back for extending, so I just plugged my library server ethernet cable into the other Google WIFI port and let it pick up an IP address from the router. Voila! Now both the PC and Apple TV are in the same subnet and it works! [link] [comments] |
