| Posted: 26 Feb 2021 06:47 PM PST So i spilled a bit of gatorade on my laptop. It has a cover but was closed and facing down. So the spill was on the back side of the keyboard side of the laptop. My dumbass panicked and didn't protect the vent holes. I also open the laptop many times while attempting to pat dry. The screen started flashing. And i powered my laptop off. While turned on, The screen no longer works at all. My keyboard doesnt light up. I'm sure water got to the logic board. Is there at home fixes that might work? Or taking it to repair is my best bet? Recently I noticed I have been around 60% at the end of the day. I checked the charging and noticed the battery recharged to 80% and stopped charging. Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:24 PM PST I don't know if I just noticed this problem since I got my keyboard or if it's BECAUSE of my keyboard that this is happening but my macbook keeps waking up from sleep and makes my keyboard start glowing as a result. I've been unplugging my keyboard thinking that was the reason for the wake ups but I can't confirm that my mb is really sleeping anyways since it's closed. I did run terminal to see why it was waking up but there wasn't anything particular. I did have a past issue with my mb being hot in the morning after sleep and changed a few battery saver and usb port settings to fix it but now I have to deal with whatever this is... I can't figure it out and I can't be pulling my keyboard out of the port every night. It's not good for the port. Please help :( [link] [comments]  | ||
| Help with external display connectivity to Macbook Air '17 Posted: 26 Feb 2021 06:02 PM PST I have purchased two adaptors for my Macbook Air '17. The first was a Belkin Thunderbolt 2 to HDMI which worked for two months or so, then just stopped connecting. My external display remains inactive and does not recognize the connection. I start with the mac closed, plugged into power and HDMI then use an external keyboard to wake it up, which has worked just fine for me. Now nothing happens. Keyboard is fine. Does not connect when open either. So I went to Apple Support and asked what would work after which they suggested the Belkin MiniDisplay Port to HDMI, which is not Thunderbolt but works similarly? Don't know much about that. This also does not work. Anyone ever have problems like this and is it fixable? When I go to the display preferences menu and manually search for displays, while plugged in, it still does not detect my monitor. [link] [comments]  | ||

On Windows I have my music library in a network drive and use Musicbee to sync a playlist with the tracks I want to my phone. | Posted: 26 Feb 2021 12:03 PM PST So I am a new mac user, coming from using a 1440p 13 inch display windows laptop and everything was way too big with the default resolution so I changed it to 1680x1050 and the text was a lot closer to the size I'm used to. The only issue is that now the text is blurry and kind of hurts my eyes. Comparing my old laptop with it side by side on the same webpage and with the font being basically the same size, the MacBook looks significantly less sharp. I turned off the text smoothing through terminal but it still isn't as good as my old laptop. Is this something common? Pretty sad here. I have a Macbook Pro 13-inch 2019. Today, after a very frustrating meeting I took my earbuds off in a frustrated manner and when I tossed one aside, it hit my Touch Bar and cracked it about half a centimeter on the left side near the thunderbolt ports. The touch bar immediately turned funky colours and went pixelated and now is mostly black except for the escape symbol (thank goodness) which is visible. Now my AUX port isn't working. Are they connected? How does a tiny crack on the left side of the Touch Bar near the thunderbolt ports made my AUX port (on the right side) stop working? If I take this to a repair shop, will replacing the AUX port and not the Touch Bar be doable and moderately simple or have I screwed myself? Kinda freaking out because I work online and need to use my headphones everyday. I bought the laptop of the Apple refurbished site in July 2020. So I'm unsure where I stand with warranty and possible fixing. But I am in Colombia right now, where there is no Apple Store anyways :( My friend suggested I get bluetooth headphones so I'll probably do that immediately. Looking for any suggestions or advice one might have. I remember a few years ago my AUX port on an iPhone 6 stopped working and someone recommended resetting something in settings and it actually worked?! Top of screen at toolbar is jumping up and down and driving me insane as I use my MacBook as my primary work computer. I have reset SMC and NVRAM also formatted drive and did fresh install of latest Big Sur yesterday. What is strange is it does not do this in Recovery or Safe mode. Could this be a screen cable issue? I then tried to download an app from the App Store but i couldn't so I restarted the MacBook. After that I open it, I type the password all good but when I get to the desktop i was moving the cursor without the cursor moving. I could click apps but the cursor was stuck, like having an invisible hand. I close the screen and then I open it and nothing. Screen is black. After a few seconds the keyboard goes dim and I try to press the power button. Still nothing. What do I do? I need the MacBook because I have transitioned to all digital and I have all my homework on there. I could use the iPad but my school uses adobe connect and the app is so bad on the iPad. | What is the current status of M1 MacBooks and MS Visual Studio? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 09:04 AM PST I know there's Visual Studio for Mac. But the few videos uploaded show a bunch of issues and application crashing. I'm starting college this fall, and I'd really like to keep my MacBook Air, it's my first go at MacOS and I love the tech behind the M1. However, come the spring semester we will be delving into Java and C# I and II. The latter will be through MS Visual Studio. The professor suggested a windows laptop since MS VS is free at campus (I believe the community aspect of Visual Studio for Mac is free as well, though I don't know if it's limited). TLDR: Is the M1 capable of running Visual Studio already without bugs/crashes, or should I just exchange it for the sake of school for something else? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Help! Why do windows on my mac keep disappearing Posted: 26 Feb 2021 02:16 AM PST Hi all, have an issue on my 2020 Macbook Air which is driving me crazy. I often work split-screen, e.g. with Microsoft Word (which I'm working on) open on one side, and a passive app for reference like a browser / PDF app / video chat on the other side. However, the passive app frequently just disappears, leaving half the screen empty. It reappears exactly as it was when I click on the dock icon, but it's an incredibly annoying issue as I'm constantly having to summon it back. I've googled around but can't find a solution.
