Genius guys at Apple returned damaged macbook -repeatedly Posted: 02 Feb 2021 05:23 PM PST I have Macbook pro 4 years old when that first touch bar came. The webcam was not working so I sent to them to have a look at it. They informed that screen needs to be changed for it and quoted me almost $500 for it. I asked them to return it back without repair. I can buy $20 webcam from Amazon. Once they returned, screen was damaged. The lower one inch of the screen was leaking light from whole left to the right panel. I sent them back to fix this shit and they informed it's known defect of screen and they would replace it without cost. But then they send another update informing logic board is faulty and asking again $500 to fix it. I asked them to return me back after fixing the screen which you damaged when I sent you last time. Sure enough, they sent it back after repairing/replacing the screen. Now I got it and the ducking mac won't even boot. The initial complaint was for webcam and now I am left with a dead unit after repair. 4 years for that $2000 laptop. They gotta fix this sh!t. What are my options? Email id for higher up executives to held them accountable for this sh!t show? Anything other suggestions? [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Feb 2021 09:53 PM PST Do you keep your macbooks plugged in when using it at home ? is this a wise thing to do for the purpose of reducing cycle counts... ive had my macbook for 6 days since purchase, and Im already down to 6 cycle counts, since i pretty much have to charge it up everyday.. Been using it for online classes [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Feb 2021 10:55 PM PST Hi, I want to add a external monitor to my Macbook pro 16' (2019) but I'm reading a lot of bad stuff so I would like recommendations of people about their setup. I do a little gaming and watch movies but nothing crazy. Main use will be work. My priority was an ultrawide 34' monitor (LG, DELL) but I read way too much bad stuff about blurry fonts and bad scaling. My 2nd thought was 2 small monitors (like 2 x 24') but I'm afraid that my macbook fans will just scream all the time. So I'm open for one large 27'/32' screen as well. As long as it respects these 2 points: - clear/crisp screen, no blurry fonts and weird resolutions/scaling because my work includes a lot of reading - Macbook doesn't heat up and fans are not getting crazy with adding the monitor or the monitorS My budget is around 800$ but don't hesitate to post if you love your setup and it respect my 2 criterias. I really want one ultrawide but after a lot of researches I don't find one that seem to work flawlessly. So please comment if you have an Ultrawide/27'/32' or double monitors and you're happy with it (crispy fonts and your mac doesn't get too hot) . Thanks a lot [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Feb 2021 02:50 PM PST Long story short: - I was visiting family and cracked my Macbook Pro screen by accident so I took it in for a simple repair under AppleCare+. They held it for two weeks and couldn't fix it because of part availability and I had to fly home. So they gave me it back to get repaired at the apple back home. - Apple repair shop #2 looks at it and finds there are broken parts with my logic board (from the last technician putting the parts back together the wrong way and critically damaging parts inside) - Now they have to replace the whole logic board (but parts arent available and the normal lead time is 2-4 weeks) - Then CA announces their SAH order so now they can't fix it in store. So I ask for a replacement since I need a working comp asap. (I run my business on my comp and need it every day to make my income). - Apple Customer Relations tells me they will only offer a mail-in repair (again about a month+ to hopefully fix it, IF they can). I explain I cannot wait that long for the hope of a repair as it will harm me and my business. I need a solution today or 3 days without a comp max. - Well about a month goes by without any updates and they finally tell me they will not issue a replacement and they will only offer a repair. I think it's mind-blowing that after all the back in forth and further damage, a trillion+ market cap company can't look at the situation they've caused and make things right. Let me clarify, I'd happily take it in for a repair if it was only a few days but not a month+. I'm basically being pressured into buying a new Macbook Pro even though they broke the computer. I know that's a lot for the short version. Curious if anyone has had similar incidents with Apple? [link] [comments]

8 core gpu or 7 core gpu for coding with M1 macbook air? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 09:40 PM PST So i'm currently in the process of teaching myself to code. Specifically html/css/javascript and then eventually reactjs. I need a new macbook and i've decided on the M1 macbook air. Will I need or benefit from the 8 core gpu? I'm already going to be upgrading the ram to 16gb. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Feb 2021 05:15 PM PST Hey all, Searched along these lines but just wanted to double check with my unique circumstances. I have 2017 MacBookPro 13" that has randomly started giving me the flashing folder sign, but only sometimes when connected to power and dormant for awhile or seemingly when booting up connected to power. Usually boots up fine after restarting it, twice at most. Used disk utility and that didn't find anything wrong with the Hard Drive, thankfully. Does this sound like another SSD cable issue or a bigger deal? [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Feb 2021 12:30 PM PST Just upgraded to a new M1 MacBook Pro and am totally new to the whole dongle/adapter life. Wondering if there is, if any, a difference between a thunderbolt Dock or Hub? I'd be using it to connect an external monitor (have yet to buy but probably HDMI), a SSD, sometimes an audio interface, and my iLok for pro tools. Not really concerned with portability. Would love to know which one you use and or prefer! [link] [comments]

Anyone else having issues with macOS Big Sur Posted: 02 Feb 2021 11:42 AM PST I have the MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) and it always runs a tad bit hot and the fans get a little loud with Google Chrome. So after I updated to Big Sur, I noticed that the fans were louder and the laptop was running hotter. I also have le random process, "SECD" taking up 121.3% of my CPU. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue. Big Sur...more like big heat surge :D Okay, I'll see myself out. [link] [comments]
Should I Spend the Money to Replace Battery? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 11:18 AM PST Hi, all. I have the Macbook Pro Retina 15-inch model from 2015. The battery is now at around 60% health and the "service recommended" notification has been up for awhile. I have an appointment tomorrow to get it replaced, but it looks like it may cost me around $200 from the prices I have seen online. Given the age of the computer, should I just try to trade in and get a new one? I never really use the battery anymore, but I am afraid of it leaking if I leave it as it is. MacBook Battery Cycle Count 2300 Posted: 02 Feb 2021 11:14 AM PST Hi, I have a MacBook Pro Early 2015, I am having a few battery issues. Firstly the changer was getting way too hot. Like if I am using the Mac and charging it at the same time the changer plug (with orange and green light) would get so hot that my figure would feel burnt. Anyway, I replaced my charger 10 days ago. Got a new one from apple which was like £79 and now I am getting ''Service Recommended'' on my Mac Battery. I think it is quite old now as cycle count is at 2300. So my question is should I get the battery repaired right away or can I wait till the end of this year as money is bit tight this year. It won't be dangerous to keep on using the Mac? Charge Information: Charge Remaining (mAh): 1654 Fully Charged: No Charging: Yes Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 4947 Health Information: Cycle Count: 2300 Condition: Service Recommended Battery Installed: Yes Amperage (mA): 3156 Voltage (mV): 12116 [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Feb 2021 10:14 AM PST Hi all hope you're well, I'e been upgrading my mbp because A i cant afford a new laptop right now & B I refuse to let this die. Ive recently changed the ram in my laptop to keep it functioning, prior to this i changed the hdd for a ssd (great decision) Im running high sierra atm through patches and Id like to know if I can upgrade to a new version as some apps i require updates for aren't working as I require minimum 10.15 os. I also wouldn't turn down the chance for my icons and visuals to improve in the sense of icons features etc. so essentially id like help/advise to upgrade my software and hardware ( whatever else there is i can upgrade im willing to do)
