Can anyone tell me why is apple following a random ass dude on Instagram lmao

“Why is Apple’s M1 chip so fast?” : This is a great (almost) entry-level analysis that’s helped me, a computing dunce, understand how Apple managed it.

    What iPad to buy now?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 07:37 AM PST

I am looking to buy an iPad but I am debating whether to get the current 2020 iPad Pro (128gb), iPad Air 4 (256gb) or wait for the potential 2021 pro, any thoughts?

SMC errors flooding console - an unacknowledged issue with every M1 Mac?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 06:24 PM PST

Hey all, there's other threads about this online but I figured it prudent to make another to bring more attention to this problem while everyone is still within their holiday return periods.

As you may or may not be aware, there's currently an issue that appears to affect all M1 Macs on all versions of Big Sur that Apple hasn't acknowledged yet. It's been reported here on Reddit as well as MacRumors and Apple's own forums.

The issue can be recreated as follows - open Console on your M1-based Mac. Select "start streaming" and then the tab "errors and faults" to weed out the normal activity. You should see an error populating in rapid succession:

KERNEL - Failed to write key xxxxxxxxxx to SMC with error code 86

The key numbers, represented by "xxx" above, vary. SMC resets don't appear to solve this, new installs don't solve it, machine replacements and recreating before doing anything else after setup - still there!

The very-very-woefully-software-unqualified techie in me wants to postulate that it could be an Intel-based operation in macOS trying and failing to write to a now nonexistant Intel SMC.

That being said, I don't want to throw gas on the fire as specific error codes pertaining to kernel-level activity are well outside of my knowledge. If you know more about why this might be happening, please chime in! If not, see if it's happening on your machine as well! Across multiple forum threads, I have not once yet witnessed someone who doesn't have a Console flooded with this same error, and its been happening since before 11.1 as well so its not something new.

The title of this thread is not intending to be dramatic or start a "-gate," I'm just an M1 owner puzzled by this issue and hopeful to see it resolved via software before the return period is up.

When is the optimal time to upgrade to the newest Macbook Pro?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 07:30 AM PST

I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2017 2.3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5. I had a thought of upgrading to the newest model, as right now may be the highest valuation for my current mac when I decide to sell it for an upgrade. I'm going to do it in 1-2 years anyway if I use this that long. The newest model just keeps grabbing my attention. Should I just ride my computer to the end? Or is it worth upgrading now while I can get a decent amount for my current one? Thanks :)

    AirPods making my iPhone freeze

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 08:20 AM PST

I recently bought an Apple Watch and now every time k try to connect my AirPods to my iPhone 8 it freezes up and doesn't connect. My only found solution is to turn off Bluetooth on my Apple Watch, connect my AirPods to my iPhone and start playing something and then turn Bluetooth back on. I hate doing it because it's supposed to work all together easy breezy. Any solutions or help would be appreciated!

    MBA 16GB or MBP base?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 07:56 AM PST

Hi I'm a web developer working on WordPress and React / Node.js projects. I use the internet a lot for research and entertainment.

I also like to play League of Legends.

I have $1,500 apple credit and can either buy base MBP that seems the only difference is it has a fan and Touch Bar.

I'm stuck between the two and it seems like I'm leaning more towards MBA 16GB because of the extra RAM that is within my budget. I already ordered the MBP but I can cancel it just wanted to get a second opinion as it seems that the MBA 16GB for $1,300 after tax may be the way to go because MBP only has a fan that may be useless along with useless Touch Bar.

    Mac mini the great choice

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 06:05 AM PST

I am looking for a computer, that can edit 4k Video in davinici resolve. I am considering getting a mac mini m1 16GB because I heard it is optimised for Davinici Resolve and video editing in general. Or would I be better of building a PC on my own?

iphone 12 stolen, find my phone gives me a position even if the phone is turned off? how?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 01:01 AM PST

yesterday my iphone 12 pro max got stolen while I was skiing,

as soon as I noticed, we called it a couple of times and it was ringing, then I kept calling and it just stopped ringing, so it was shut down or put in airplane mode.

As soon as I came home, I went to Icloud.com and with Find My Phone, I put my phone in Lost mode, left a custom message (150$ reward, phone blocked, please return),
but on the Map in the Icloud website, it doesn't show anything about the iPhone's last position, it just says the phone is offline.

Now, I restored my last backup to my previous iPhone, then I opened the "Find My" app on the phone, and here I see my iPhone 12 on the map!!

How is this possible? I see that there was a last position in my city 12 hours ago, around 8 hours later that my phone got stolen.

So I'm wondering, how can the "Find My" app show me the last position, even if the phone WAS NOT turned back on (the Lost mode I activated still is not active, it says that it will be activated as soon as the iPhone gets access to internet), so this is not clear for me, I should also see the last position of the iPhone on the icloud website right?

Finally the only thing I can think of, is something I read some time ago, about newer iPhone having a way to get traced even if they are turned off, because they can somehow comunicate with other iphones?

Do you Think iPhone SE 2020 is under warranty for the following reason?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 04:19 AM PST

Hi! So i got this iphone SE 2020 4-5 months back and already i have a very frustrating problem. The volume up button of my phone works fine but it doesn't press/click. It has been more like a touch button now. Like the button doesn't go in or make any click sound at all. Although it does work when i press it, i am not sure if this is eligible for warranty. I am pretty sure it is going to deteriorate with time if nothing is done with it.

Do you think i can claim my warranty?

The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time please try again later

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 07:30 AM PST

Hi, I kept receiving this error message for more than 10 days on my 4th generation iPad since trying to re-download a purchased app from the App Store. It happens for any app I want to download that is tied to my account. I tried to resolve this issue by signing out and re-signing in the App Store and iTunes Store but didn't work. I signed out from iCloud and restarted the device before I signed back in and this also didn't work. I am out of options as I contacted Apple support and they didn't tell me it's an issue with the Apple servers. Someone please help me. Did iTunes Store stop supporting vintage products such as the iPad 4th generation?
